Jimbo here...born in Chicago and grew up there. I've always been a ND/Cubs/Bears fan....hate the white sox. Joined the Peace Corps in 1988 and did reforestation work in the Philippines for 2+ years. My real job is building golf courses, primarily in SE Asia now.....Thailand, Philippines and my latest project is in Cambodia. Unfortunately I don't get to see much college football at all over here. Life is good.

Hey Jimbo. Sounds like a great career meeting people from other countries and trying their foods. Per chance if America has any military presence you could catch ND games on the Armed Forces Network? May be tape delayed.

Glad to have you at DD, you make us international now.:yo:

My name is Chris. I grew up in Fort Worth, TX and reside here now. I graduated from Notre Dame in 2000. I lived in Dillon. After ND, I was a Holy Cross Associate in Colorado Springs, CO. In 2001, I took a job teaching and coaching at my old high school in Fort Worth, where I remained until this past school year. In '05, I started graduate business school at UT-Arlington. I have completed an MBA and a Master's degree in Accounting. I will start a new job with PwC next month.

I got married in 2005. My wife went to St. Mary's University (in San Antonio). We have a 3-yr old son. Sully179 from this board is my little brother.

Derek (Irishwave), I was an RA in Dillon when I was a senior. Whose section were you in as a freshman?

My name is David and I have a Notre Dame problem...... and I love it. I grew up in Kalamazoo MI, which is about an hour north of SB. I have been to many games, both home and away, but mostly home. The first game I went to was against Air Force with Tim Brown being a sophomore or junior, can't remember. All I know is he ran back a punt he had no business running back, and I was hooked into ND. The next game was USC vs. ND at home the year after ND the won the National Championship. Fight in the tunnel!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I have been a fan for many a moon, and love all that ND stands for and tries to be.

I am 36, a protestant who loves the Catholic faith and feels we have a lot more in common than different, and am married to a wonderful woman who is now a ND convert. We live in La Plata MD. She and I have three children, two boys and a girl. All three are being raised to love ND, and do! I am a elementary school VP, love Manchester United and Notre Dame Football. Love to play soccer, got hooked recently on Triathlons.

Cool story. My father was diagnosed with brain cancer (not so cool) about 4 years ago. Wrote a letter to CW asking him to just sign a get well card to my dad (who is also a ND fan). Turns out CW had a letter typed to him, 3 paragraphs long on the official ND stationary basically saying: you have supported ND for many years, now we the ND community support you! TOTAL CLASS!! My dad kept that in his Bible for years. He has it at home now in his ND book collection. Dad is doing great, and is as healthy as he can be.

I tend to write on the social issues, but love to chime in once in a while on the other issues of the day. I recommend Domer Domain to all I come in contact with who are ND fans.

God bless!

Wow, David! That is great news about your dad! Everyone I've known who contracted brain cancer has not lived more than a year. (We just lost a family friend three weeks ago)That is great that he has gotten well! Here's to a long life and great memories for both of you! Go Irish!

My name is Chris,

I'm 40 years young, my nickname on the site is derived from the area I live, Northeast Pa. I was born and raised in the hotbed of Penn State territory, but it never diminished my faith in my favorite team. I've been a fan since birth. My dad is an ND alumni and a member of the Sorin Society on campus, and always goes to every home game due to the level of contributions he makes to the university each year..

I'm married with 3 children, my youngest died from S.I.D.'s when he was only 2 and a half months old back in 2003. His death put a lot of things in perspective for me with life. Life is short, enjoy it, you never know what can happen at any point in time, no matter how prepared you may be for something, you never really are. I just enjoy being around family, friends, and my swim team.

My occupation is an Accountant, however my true passion is coaching swimming. I've been coaching at a local YMCA for the past 4 years and recently produced a national level swimmer as well as 4 all-state swimmers. I coached in the Philly area for 6 years during the 90's as well. My middle child, Donovan, is a rabid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and I may be losing him to swimming due to it, but............I don't care, would rather see him happy than force him into doing something he doesn't want to do (swimming).

Absolutely proud to be part of the board, love hearing everyone's banter back and forth, wish we could all get together at a game and hoist a few sometime together.

Hi, my name is Robert, and i'm an Irishaholic. I basically dream of Notre Dame wins and National Championships. Lately I have had these dreams more than before. My doctor can't help me, my friends can't help me...my own wife is without answer for what I have.

I came here seeking support and to be with other's with a love of The Irish. I will just keep coming back!

Hi my name is Heath I am 31 and live in Indianapolis. I have a beautiful wife and 2 year old daughter and just recently found out we have a another little one on the way. I've played Football since the 3rd grade, mostly on the line, In Highschool I played O line (lined up against other teams best d-lineman), D-line, and fullback. In College I played Center for a Div III school. Got recruited by some Div II schools as well. Have coached some Middle school football in the indy area as well.

I have loved ND ever since I can remember...it runs in the family...I am also a big Cubs, and Bears fan. Was stoked when Zorich went to play for da Bears. My Saturdays are planned around the ND game. I recently purchased a HD DVR this year because we had two weddings in September. Best purchase ever.

Hi, my name is John and I like the Fighting Irish. For real, i REALLY like the Fighting Irish. I like 'em so much, I watch em on TV. Like, almost all the time. Sometimes I even drink beer, eat chips and other junk when watching em play.

So, I was born in Gary, IN. Grew up watching the Irish. Still go to road games now and then. etc.

My name is brett, I'm 31, married for just under a year... Have been a big ND fan all my life. played football, wrestling, track and golf through high school. played football at butler university in indianapolis...was a 3 year starter...was a double major in marketing and admin... after my playing days were up I had a couple pro tryouts and was offered to play in a european league, which would have been fun, but no money (12k /season pre-tax) and the injury concern was too much, as my body was pretty chewed up at the end of college...

I traveled a lot when i got out of school and have made it a priority to go to a new football stadium every year...have several former teammates who coach around the midwest. one of my best friends is a coach at dwenger and he gets me some good info on those kids, another good friend is a coach at zionsville and he has been helping lueders deal with the recruiting process and his dad, who sounds like the dad from friday night lights the tv series, not the movie...also i have a friend of mine who used to work in the SID department who has hooked me and a few friends up with tickets from time to time. we were on the sideline for the purdue game a few years ago, which was unbelievable. i have another friend who still works with the team on a daily basis and from time to time sends me a text or e-mail about what he is hearing around the hallways...

overall...I enjoy the board and think of it as a nice release from the commodities world in which i work...also i just got an i-phone the other week, so some of my evening posts will seem a bit choppy, because i'm still learning the keyboard and it takes too long to type anything in...

Hey,

I am Ndirish8! I am a huge sports fan and the Irish lie closest to my heart. I am currently 17 years old, 18 this month! I am a senior in high school from St. Louis, Missouri. I have followed Notre Dame Football all my life. I truly knew the Notre Dame program at around the age of 12. My favorite sports are football and baseball. I have played both sports my entire life, and now I announce games for school. I also enjoy playing golf. My family is extremely important to me as well. But ND has my heart baby! My room is gold and features a coach wall, heisman wall, heart wall (Rudy, Bleier), and best players wall. The Play Like A Champion sign hangs above my bed. I plan on attending UMSL, SEMO, or John Carroll University to major in Political Science. Subsuquently, I am going to attend law school at the University of Notre Dame. I am gold and blue through and through!!!

Hello All,

My name is Randy and I am 40 and have been married for almost 19 years to my best friend. I have 3 beautiful children (son - 16, daughters - 13 and 6). I have been a Notre Dame fan for 30 plus years. As a kid, we lived way out in the country and only had an antennae that picked up 3 local channels. My sister lived in Evansville and had a wonderful thing called cable. I used to stay at her house on the weekends and ESPN used to show ND games on tape delay, early Sunday mornings. I absolutely fell in love with the Irish while watching those games, so long ago. I loved everything about them. The tradition, the gold helmets, Rockne, Montana, you name it, I ate it up.

I would have to say that my favorite players have been Chris Zorich, Rocket and Tim Brown.

I have been to 4 games and each have been a religious experience. I was there for Lou's last game and I cried because I knew I was witnessing the end of an era.

Aside from being a diehard Irish fan, I also live and die with the Yankees, Dolphins and IU basketball. I am glad to now be a part of the Domer Domain community.

Go Irish!

    • The players are getting paid because there is a market that wants to see success on the field.  Because that market watches, advertisers pay a lot of money to be seen while that market watches.  In return, that advertising money comes back to the school in the form of millions of dollars in various ways.  Paying for better players means even more value for advertisers and more money for Notre Dame to build buildings or fund programs. The average student who goes to Notre Dame doesn’t generate millions of dollars for the school.  If they decide not to go there, someone else will fill the spot so they can have access to the excellent education funded by the football program and its players.  I don’t see why the university would pay students to come (except for the absolute brightest) when supply and demand is in Notre Dame’s favor in a big way.  The alums are part of the market that wants results on the field so their money goes towards those results which in turn increases value for Notre Dame, too.  Paying kids to come doesn’t have much benefit to those alums either… I get what’s being said about working hard to pay for your kid to go to college, but there are just too many folks in the same boat while a big source of revenue for schools is football…the value of the school increases if football thrives.  It’s simple business, unfortunately, and ordinary students are the consumer.  Nobody pays consumers if they want to stay in business.
    • OK, fine, I'm getting excited.   We've been winning a lot of these. My take:  Golden commit forces Zackery hand?  Takes the last ND DB spot? It's nothing but expeditious!  Was always the answer.  No other reason to move up his commitment.   I expect he will commit to his dream school for a shot at the Natty!  The synergy is real here.  It's the staff, too, but it's bigger.  Like minded kids.  And they're all conspiring to come together for the title shot, and this staff has them convinced it's in South Bend!
    • Slight nit, take the government out of guaranteed student loans.  Single handedly has been the biggest cause of soaring tuition and crushing debt for borrowers. Otherwise I'm in between as far as NIL.  It's chaos currently and we are still in Flux with the changes that have happened and stuff that's still to come.  We are far from settled in this shifting landscape of college athletics.
