Hello everybody, and welcome to DomerDomain.

This thread was created to give everybody the opportunity to introduce themselves, and to tell us all a little bit about you.

Feel free to tell us as much or as little info that you want the DomerDomain family to know.

You can also add a picture if you would like.

Also, as things change, feel free to come back and edit your profile as much as you need to.

I'll get the ball rolling:

My name is Chris and I am 35 years old. I was born in Pasadena, Ca., in the shadow of the Grandaddy of them all, the Rose Bowl.

I have a 20 month old daughter, and I have been married to my wife Erin for almost 9 years.

I am a basketball player first, but absolutely love the game of football. I played High school ball and tons of semi pro leagues after that across the L.A. area. Having a nice paying job immediately after school kept me from playing any D1 ball, and I regret it very much.

I can also catch anything thrown within a 5 foot radius of myself. ;)

The Lakers (and Raiders/Rams) always came first in our family, but my grandfathers love for Notre Dame football was handed down to me and a few select others.

I helped run our family printing business for over 15 years, but have since left that field to pursue a career as a financial advisor.

I love the Lakers, Dodgers, Duke Basketball, and the Denver Broncos, and of course, Notre Dame football.

Go Irish!

Hey all!

My name is Chuck and a single father of a beautiful daughter that I am raising myself. I am just a tad over 40. I was born and raised under the Golden Dome's shadow in South Bend, Indiana. I had always dreamed of going to Notre Dame but just didn't have the grades. I did attend Notre Dame's Junior College, Holy Cross Jr. College. After realizing I wasn't going to go to the actual University, I decided to join the U.S. Army where I served in Germany. Upon my return home, I eventually became a local FM Disc Jockey here at U93 (WNDU 92.9 FM, owned by Notre Dame at that time) and some others. I had the pleasure helping with the Lou Holtz Radio Show for a couple of years. That was fun but after realizing being a DJ wasn't a very stable career, I took paramedic courses and worked with a local ambulance service. I then realized I wanted to be more a part of the action and not just cleaning up after the action so approx. 9 years ago, I became a South Bend Police Officer. Yes, I do work as many home games as possible at in-stadium security.

A local Catholic school boy, I did play some football in high school at center. My wise mother raised me up to be Notre Dame Football fan and even took me to my very first ND game, Montana's great comeback against Purdue. That got me hooked. Due to my position, I have had the pleasure to meet many great players and coaches. I must say that my absolute favorites have to be Tony Rice and Marc Edwards. Mainly because both of these fine men are the absolute nicest, most humble guys you'd ever want to meet and if you ever met either one of them just one time, they leave you feeling like a long lost friend. Great representatives to Our Lady's University.

Well, that's me. Nice to meet you!

My name's Chad. I'm 24 years old. I'm a senior at Rutgers University. I live in Gloucester City, NJ (about 5 mins from Philly right over the bridge & 40 mins from Atlantic City). I dont have any children, but I treat my 2 yr old niece like she's mine. My younger sister had her when she was 18 and the baby's dad is a deadbeat, so me & my dad are the men in her life. I played Football, Basketball & Baseball in HS. I was good at Football & Baseball. I was dumb and didnt go away for football b/c I had a gf, now I regret it, but I get to coach which is my new found love. I love all Philly teams (Eagles, Phillies, Flyers & Sixers) plus the arena teams like Soul & Wings. I love everything that is Notre Dame and I'm also a Duke Basketball fan. My all-time fave ND player would have to be Rocket Ismail. I was 4 years old when we won the NC and I remember the rocket and playing Bill Walsh' College Football and using the '88 Nat'l Champs and always running back kicks with #25 lol. My recent favorite was Brady Quinn and my fav current player is prob TE - Kyle Rudolph or WR - Michael Floyd. My all-time fave Duke player is PG - Bobby Hurley.

Growing up my favorite #'s were 7, 11, 21, & 84

My football #'s in midgets were 12 (Randal Cunningham when he was Eagles QB), 33 (my uncle's HS #), 59 (Mike Mamula when he was drafted by the Eagles, but switched when I was a frosh b/c the # was cursed), 66 (switched with one of my teammates b/c 59 was cursed, his only gm wearing 59 he broke his ankle), & 84 (my HS football #)

My basketball/baseball #'s were #11 (Bobby Hurley's Duke #), #7 (Hurley's # for the Kings), #42 (Elton Brand's #) & #21 (my HS #)

I played Varsity Football for 3 years and Varsity Baseball all 4 years. I was recruited in the 2002 football season. The biggest schools I got letters from were: Buffalo, Fairfield, & Monmouth. That was my biggest regret, not playing in college. Then on top of that I pledged a frat my frosh year instead of going out for baseball, so I turned to coaching my soph yr.

My name is Aaron. I'm 20. My birthday is July 31. I'm a history major at the University of Maine. I plan on teaching or going to law school. I drive a 2001 Ford Focus SE. I'm the oldest of four kids. We're the traditional Franco-American, large, Catholic family. I've had a job since I was 11 years old. I grew up playing baseball and I'm pretty good at it. The highest velocity I've ever faced was slightly over 90 and I could hit it. I was a pitcher and also played 3rd base. I also grew up playing basketball. Besides Notre Dame's sports teams, I'm a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Celtics, St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Rams, and University of Maine Black Bears- particularity our hockey team. Despite living in Maine, I hate the Red Sox and Patriots. I think most of their fans that live up here are ignorant to the respective sports. They're also arogant. It doesn't get much worse than that. Yankee fans, don't get your hopes up, I hate them too.

I graduated from Bangor High School in '07 as a member of the National Honor Society but got rejected from Notre Dame. I'm now on the Dean's List at UMaine though so it's okay, I guess. Although I wanted to go ND since I was seven. I've always thought it was funny that Notre Dame was a french name for Our Lady but that the school's mascot is the Fighting Irish.

Anyway, I like movies, PS3, Coke products (except M. Dew and A&W Cream are delicious) and good rap music (not hip pop garbage/most of what's been released by major labels since the turn of the millenium). Just a pretty normal 20 year old.

The name is Tim. I am 27 and was born and raised in Colorado. I joined the Marine Corps at age 18 and it has been the greatest decisions I have ever made. Unfortunately after 9 great years it is time for me to move on and be successful at something else. I get out in July and am nervous about the decision to say the least. I am happily married and looking forward to the day I might have kids.

I am a huge fan of three things….1. America 2 . Notre Dame 3. Bacon. I really love Bacon.

I played Football (LB) & Basketball (PF) from the day I could walk, through high school (and even in the Corps when I had time). My favorite football player of all time is…….unfortunately not a ND guy, but Steve Atwater #27 (God could he hit).

I've always wondered how really, really fat couples do it.

I HATE….. LAX airport, politicians and gravity.

Even though I’m a 27 year old Marine I still enjoy the simple entertainment from childhood like coloring, puzzles, and throwing rocks at little kids.

My name is Jeff Meunier, I live in Santa Claus Indiana. I graduated from the University of Evansville with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in '06. I currently work at an Aluminum Smelter as an engineer for them. I played linebacker, and was an All State offensive linemen in HS. I have 5 siblings all but one are engineers as well, I'm the only mechanical the others are Civils. I recently (2 years ago) began playing ice hockey. I am engaged and will be married this August. I grew up in a Catholic family and one of my first memories was actually watching ND play at one of my Uncles houses. I am also really into racing (real racing aka F1), F1 is basically engineer porn. I really love dark beer. Knowing all of those things you actually know me pretty well.

I'll give you guys 5 guesses where that first picture was taken

For a long time Steve Atwater was my favorite pro player as well. My "lucky" number is 27 and in Highschool I wore #54 (27*2) partially because of the way he played.

Hey there DD'ers! My name is Joel and I am 43 years old. I am married to the woman of my dreams and we have 4 wonderful kids (2 boys, 2 girls). We live in Buchanan, MI. which is about 20 minutes north of ND. I am a high-end car salesman (Audi's & Mercedes) and work at Gurley Leep Motorwerks just east of ND. Love the cars! I have been a ND fan my whole life. Growing up our guest bathroom even played the ND fightsong when you turned the light on. A friend of my fathers (A Michigan grad) once said I think "I p'd on your floor but I wasn't about to turn that damn light on!"...lol! Another family friend (Purdue grad) lost a bet to my father and got back at him by fertilizing a giant "P" in our lawn. No-matter what my dad did, it always grew in thicker and darker that summer. We got him back...don't worry! So as you can see there was always ND stuff going on at our house. I played hockey, soccer, football and baseball growing up. I was recruited as a kicker in highschool but decided to play soccer instead. Didn't matter much though as I blew my knee out the summer before I went to college...that sucked. For you recruits reading this...keep that in mind when they talk about the 40 year decision...all it takes is a split second and your future changes! Allright, all-right, I'm off my soap-box...lol! Well, that's enough about me...oh, I like The Colorado Avalanche, The Broncos and The Rockies (lived in Denver for 10 years).

p.s. The pic above is of my kids playing football while we were tailgating at an ND game!

My name is John, i am 24, and I was born in Toledo Ohio. I am an Irish and Italian Catholic, who was born to be an Irish Fan. Some of my first memories are family gatherings based around ND saturdays. Growing up I never missed a game, and that tradition has never ceased. I live on Catalina Island now, and I run the local museum. I am probably going to get some crap for this, but, I went to the University Of Florida. Thats right a Gator Alum. During the 2006 season I was a senior at UF and I only watched 3 or 4 of their games because i am completely consumed by ND football in fall. (Maybe you guys know why i defend tebow now) Any way I am a Gator fan, with that said, I would choose the Gators loosing every game for the next 50 years if it meant a NC for Notre Dame in the next 1-3 years. So i guess you know where my heart lies.

go gators! GO IRISH!

My name is Terry. I am 39 and have been married almost 13 years to my Auburn Tiger Alum wife. I live in Fishers, Indiana and have 3 kids under age six. I am a chiropractor and I own 5 medical spinal rehab clinics here in the metro Indianapolis area. I used to watch all the games on TV as a child. Two of my three kids have been to numerous games already with me. They love it. I'm planning on taking the whole family to the spring game and possibly the breakfast.

Guess I should give this a shot seeing as I'm one of the most misunderstood people on the board :)

My name is Jeff. I'm 37, been a Notre Dame fan since 1988. Back before I started to follow college football, Spike Owen and Roger Clemens were my heroes. I followed Longhorns baseball religiously through the pages of Baseball America in the days before all sports t.v. stations and the internet. Heck, I wanted to be from Texas so bad as a kid that the word "y'all" somehow morphed into my vocabulary where it remains today.

In high school I played offense and defense. I was a huge Chris Zorich fan. When his mom passed away, I changed my uniform number to #50 in her honour (Canadian spelling). One game I got double teamed and jammed my neck. I had to be strapped to the board and they had to cut my jersey off to slide me out of my shoulder pads. I asked them not to because of what it meant to me and I cried as they cut it away.

Growing up Catholic, I knew the importance of Notre Dame, but it wasn't until Rocket's near magic against the Buffs in the Orange Bowl that I realized how much I needed Notre Dame football in my life. I'm not pleased to say I have skipped weddings (of not so close friends) rather than miss a game. I even planned my own wedding well after bowl season so that I could make sure I didn't miss a game. I bleed blue and gold; however, I am very critical of some things that have transpired over the years with coaching hires and player personnel.

I have taken some heat on the board for statements about not being sold on Jimmy Clausen...and even more heat about my disdain for the accolades placed on Brady Quinn. I would like you all to know that I want nothing more than my beloved Irish to succeed, but I'm not afraid to be critical of decisions or players.

I have a wonderful career in brain injury rehabilitation. I love my job, my agency, my clients and co-workers. I absolutely LOVE to go to work each and every day. I am also the proud father of a fifteen month old girl who is the love of my life. Ever since she came into my life, Notre Dame football is no longer the most important thing to me. I have sworn and yelled a heck of a lot less over the last two seasons because I have some perspective about what is truly important in life.

I love it here at DD because we can agree to disagree without slandering each others' mothers...you guys rock and I'm honoured (Canadian spelling) to disect our guys with you each season as I have for the past few years.

    • The players are getting paid because there is a market that wants to see success on the field.  Because that market watches, advertisers pay a lot of money to be seen while that market watches.  In return, that advertising money comes back to the school in the form of millions of dollars in various ways.  Paying for better players means even more value for advertisers and more money for Notre Dame to build buildings or fund programs. The average student who goes to Notre Dame doesn’t generate millions of dollars for the school.  If they decide not to go there, someone else will fill the spot so they can have access to the excellent education funded by the football program and its players.  I don’t see why the university would pay students to come (except for the absolute brightest) when supply and demand is in Notre Dame’s favor in a big way.  The alums are part of the market that wants results on the field so their money goes towards those results which in turn increases value for Notre Dame, too.  Paying kids to come doesn’t have much benefit to those alums either… I get what’s being said about working hard to pay for your kid to go to college, but there are just too many folks in the same boat while a big source of revenue for schools is football…the value of the school increases if football thrives.  It’s simple business, unfortunately, and ordinary students are the consumer.  Nobody pays consumers if they want to stay in business.
    • OK, fine, I'm getting excited.   We've been winning a lot of these. My take:  Golden commit forces Zackery hand?  Takes the last ND DB spot? It's nothing but expeditious!  Was always the answer.  No other reason to move up his commitment.   I expect he will commit to his dream school for a shot at the Natty!  The synergy is real here.  It's the staff, too, but it's bigger.  Like minded kids.  And they're all conspiring to come together for the title shot, and this staff has them convinced it's in South Bend!
    • Slight nit, take the government out of guaranteed student loans.  Single handedly has been the biggest cause of soaring tuition and crushing debt for borrowers. Otherwise I'm in between as far as NIL.  It's chaos currently and we are still in Flux with the changes that have happened and stuff that's still to come.  We are far from settled in this shifting landscape of college athletics.
