2022 QB Steve Angeli is Irish!

Recommended Posts

I like this kid's highlights. Love his fakes and reading defenses. Has excellent size, good arm strength, and great character. Definitely seem well developed and quite advanced for his age. He also had offers from Ohio St, Michigan, LSU, Miami, Penn St, and Oregon. That speaks volumes to me. This kid has great potential. Eager to see what bigtime qb/offensive coaching can do for him.

Watch his junior highlights below (scroll down). Clearly the kid is big and moves the chains. He can run some also.

Wiltfong thinks pretty highly Mr Angeli. This, along with BigHead's comments, give me a certain level of confidence with this commitment.

247’s Steve Wiltfong had this to say about Angeli:

“I think that Steve Angeli becomes one of the best throwers of the football on Notre Dame’s team right away. Maybe he’s not as mobile as some of the guys in the room like Tyler Buchner, but I think that his arm talent and ability to throw the football will be at a different level than what we’ve seen at Notre Dame under center lately, “said Wiltfong. “I think he’s an upgrade for Notre Dame from a pure throwing standpoint. With that, he’s a guy that has a ton of potential.”

“I think that he’s shown on film that he can throw the football and he can make accurate, strong throws out on the move. I think he’ll stand in the pocket when pressure is coming and he can stand in there and make a good throw. I think that the ball comes out smooth and quick. This is a guy that Notre Dame can win games with.”

When was the last time we banned a poster. Asking for a friend

Oh F you. I’m not saying anything inappropriate, sorry if I’m not going to toe the PC line and call this a “great signing”, it’s not. He’s a low end P5 QB.

What film is Wiltfong watching? 90% of his highlights are friggin Bootleg medium passes.

It’s too late now. He’s the QB unless he decommits. I haven’t heard anything s IU him being able to stretch through field with his arm. Until then, I’m assuming he’s a bust and ND rushed into this commitment

In todays world where players transfer if they aren't starting by year 3, I think Angeli is a good pick up. If Buchner is the real deal Angeli might be more willing to sit 3 years. The staff just needs to follow up with another high 4 star next year. I think this news was hard for some fans to take because Allar looks much more exciting on film and a few writers said he has a higher ceiling. Angeli is never going to be Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields but he can develop into a Mac Jones if they get him some playmakers at wr and rb

That’s the thing, ND is very unlikely to be able to recruit that level of skill talent around the QB. And I feel bad ragging on the kid, and I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think he’s the QB ND needs.

I don’t like Allar better simply bc his film is better, I like him bc he has the potential to be that elite QB. Don’t get me wrong, he could also be a tremendous bust bc he’s so unpolished but I think he’s worth the risk.

I like this get for ND. he throws a great ball and has a strong arm and he doesn't have a lot of playing experience so his best ball is in front of him. I like this get for ND.

What have you seen that makes you think he has a strong arm? I don’t see it.

For what it is worth I did actually read one of these paid analyst say he saw him at a camp and he had a strong arm. The writer did say Angeli short pass was extremely accurate and that his long passes he could throw with ease but accuracy not as good as short pass. He said something to the effect you can tell he has a strong arm because he doesn’t have to put his whole body into it. That he had no doubt this kid had a strong arm and that better accuracy on the long pass will come as he develops .

Oh in this guys opinion he thought he would easily be a four star if it wasn’t for the Covid.

I forgot where you were on the ground evaluating this kid. I'm sure all the staff has is the single set of videos you're watching. They couldn't POSSIBLY have any other input or data to work with....... There's a reason he has the big offers he had and it isn't from the same superficial information you're reviewing.

I put more stock into actual game play than camps. His game film isn’t great.

What evidence do you have the staff actually knows how to recruit QBs? I haven’t seen any evidence they can recruit & develop talented QBs.
