lol yeah, I’ve been there.  Every member of my family went there except me.  Have relatives working there now.  You’re welcome to disagree, but Westwood beats South Bend all day every day.

I agree that for sports, most of LA are fair weather fan posers.  But living near the beach is good living.

They have the weather but it takes two hours to go a mile to the beach.  Florida is so much better.  South Bend sucks no doubt, but college life at ND kills UCLA.

I 100 percent respect your opinion.  I just don't agree.  That's OK for both of us.  I think at UCLA, there's a lot more to do than sports.  I think at ND, that's kinda the main activity to revolve around.  I loved it when I was there, but I've also been to social events at UCLA, and they did not suck.

I hear you.  After ND, I lived vicariously through my SEC friends and chased a lot of ladies….only to realize they were really dumb and marry and ND girl I met in Atlanta who likes to drink beer.  I feel like that constitutes a win.

LOL. A win indeed.  And in the spirit of the conversation, I’m really happy with the UCLA girl who settled to marry me!

I definitely wouldn't kick my Miami (Ohio) wife outta bed for eating crackers.

"Right crackers?" - he says looking down at himself...

Miami of Ohio has a reputation that is better than Miami of Florida. Good for you IrishGuy.

I may be starting to like this transfer portal.
Probably better to get unhappy players out of the locker room. They see their paths on the current team, and the incoming players at their position.
Coaches see it too.
Bring in guys who have shown they can do both college and football, who have shown meaningful performance in real games at the college level. Not as risky as unproven high school recruits.

What a bummer! 😢

Lots of rumors and sources that this was a mutual decision and there’s some very clear mental issues going. Outbursts, fights and arguments at practices, bad mouthing ND to recruits, etc. Hasn’t been with the team for weeks now. Hopefully he gets the help he needs

Oh, man. That’s so unfortunate to hear. I hope he gets the help he needs as well!

    • ND is in a position to sit and watch what happens.  Inevitably more shake-up will occur in the landscape of CFB, so why does ND need to join anything while everything is still shifting and evolving?   Nothing makes sense right now long term for conference geography and scheduling.  The moves that have been made are setting up for a different system entirely, most likely 64 teams +/-, and divisions or leagues that will make more sense geographically with a playoff system.  Football is going to break away from the current system under the NCAA, conference affiliates, etc and forge something akin to the NFL I suspect.  Until the ground stops shaking ND can stand pat.  We won't be denied a seat at the table when all is said and done if we want to be apart of what's coming.
    • this isn't about money, I would venture to guess everyone else will force them... no longer are we as special as some remember us being...times are changing and I'm resigned to the fact that we will be forced to adapt...
    • This is a filthy lie!  You no good son of a parakeet!  That’s why you’ll never accomplish getting banned!
    • ND is scheduled to get at least $70M a year without Joining a conference. $50M NBC + $18ish CFP + ACC Basketball $. They also probably get at least $50M from home game tickets and concessions.  They have also spent (or will spend) over $500M on football related facilities in the last few years and have one of the larger endowments for FBS schools. They do not need to be in a conference for the dollars. I am not convinced that recruiting will depend on being in a conference. I look at Penn State as a former independent with a blueblood history who joined one of the two premier conferences yet they seem to be recruiting no better than ND over the past 5 years.  From a schedule perspective, I think that the SEC is still only playing 8 conference games and it is yet to be seen that ND will not be able to schedule a decent schedule. Also, there is a good chance that the top 48 or 64 schools will leave the NCAA for a yet to be named organization which would make conference affiliation for football meaningless. From an NIL perspective, I do not see how joining a conference will change how ND conducts itself. Finally, ND should "always" have an invitation to join a conference if it turns out that becomes a necessity.  IMO, many of the arguments that ND needs to be in a conference seem to ignore that many of the ways in which ND "limits" itself recruiting are self-inflicted and probably not going to change even if they join a conference. If anything, losing the uniqueness of independence might hurt recruiting assuming since ND will then start to look more like a Northwestern, Stanford, or Vanderbilt.
