However, I only agree to a certain extent about Notre Dame. Jenkin’s didn’t seem to get the changing CFB landscape, but I feel Swarbrick was getting there. The jury’s still out on Becacqua and Dowd, but I’m excited to see where they take the Football Program! I also feel Freeman is the best coach to be able to adapt to this new CFB landscape as well. This means joining a conference will not be necessary. Well, at least for a while. The only disadvantage at this point is not being able to get a guaranteed bye in the playoffs. That means Notre Dame will have to play one more game every year, but doing that will only make them stronger!

The thing is, they don’t really have a choice. Also, this team is much more talented than everyone thinks. The defense is elite, and the offense could be very good too! We all know TE and RB are elite, but the only question marks I see is at QB and WR. There are some playmakers there that could shine bright under Denbrock though! I know it’s hard, because I can be a bit of a pessimist when it comes to NDFB, but with all of these positive changes to players and staff, I’m trying to look at it with a lot more optimism! I do believe in 2024, Notre Dame will finish’s the regular season 10-2, make the playoffs, and get all the way to the semifinals, but lose there. 2025 is the year they win it all! Watch!!

The PAC-12 is gone, which really is sad to see. And it all started because of the SEC taking Texas and Oklahoma, which then led to USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington to leave for the B1G. And it looks like Clemson and FSU will be leaving the ACC, likely for the SEC, so I’m sure the ACC will die too. As @irishwavend said, 🤬 those conferences!
May 26, 2024May 26 ND is either going to have to join a conference or be happy scheduling Cincinnati as its biggest game of the year. ND is going to lose the USC game. Ultimately Florida State and Clemson will join the SEC. The SEC and BIG 10 will have so many members and such tough in-conference schedules that the big teams won’t want to schedule ND. I suspect over time ND might get to schedule Vanderbilt and Wake Forest, but not Ohio State or Georgia or Clemson. ND will be forced to join a conference. It’s just a matter of which conference and when. And by that time, much like Nick Saban, I may be done with college football.
May 26, 2024May 26 Author If they do not act now, ND will be considered a Group of 5 level school in a few short years Go to a college that pays you to play football? Or go to a college that does not pay you but has touchdown jesus? Lol

I'm not a fan of the approach to creating new topics (usually just a negative rant), but at least those topics have some value and can be worth a discussion.

I would say, wanting to cut off your nose to spite your face is pretty stupid. And that is exactly what ND fans who still want them to be Independent are doing. They are either not comprehending or intentionally being obtuse about the realities of ND football and the CFB landscape. I want ND football to compete for a Natty over the next 5 years. Some fans just want them to get left behind and drop further from relevance. If that is too mean, sorry I suppose. Edited May 27, 2024May 27 by NDLincPark

May 27, 2024May 27 Every once in a while I see these threads and am glad I put two people on ignore in my years on this board. The thing about ND to conference is the only way its happening is if the conferences say Notre Dame the only access you have to the playoff is if you join a conference. ND does not care about losing the top seed bye because they will get a "bye" on Conference Championship Week. The only way ND will join is if/when the conferences exclude ND from playoff access. ND has one of the most valuable brands in college football which includes their own TV network in NBC/Peacock. They have a seat at the table in these playoff discussions AND Pete values independence. So I don't see ND changing course anytime soon but i've been wrong and well documented to be wrong in the past.
