As of today, I do not think ND is even interested in him. HOWEVER, this transfer QB stuff has been massively on the down low and behind closed doors. It will be really interesting to see what happens with this QB stuff.

I am irrationally holding out hope for Sam Hartman

Interesting in regard to Virginia Tech WR Kaleb Smith... not sure whether I like it or not. Definitely would be a solid player that you can rely on, but I would almost prefer ND to focus more on the young talent at WR.

Tend to agree on the behind the scenes stuff.  I would certainly take the Okie State kid though if there was interest.  Given his performance against us at least in the bowl, the staff would remember him.

Just read up on him and saw he dipped post injury this year in stats.  But wondering what good rest and rehab off-season could do.  Perhaps to his baseline which wasn't terrible.

Guys, no worries on the wr front…Salerno returning

Although that does give us a sure-handed punt return...although limited big play potential.  He is what he is.  I don't hate it.  Glad he wants to come back.  Can't blame him.  A good sign of the feeling on the inside if nothing else.

I still don’t understand the knocks on this kid. All this initially-non-scholarship, slow, white wide receiver did was show the coaching staff in the film room, in the locker room, on the practice field, and during games that he offered something more than the more highly recruited scholarship players did. That’s it. How can you knock a guy like that?

I don’t understand why we can’t coach up our guys who have more talent…. We have guys with tons of speed and quickness.  Why aren’t they returning punts?  Or playing WR?  We should not have to go to the well like this…

But, nonetheless, good for him.  He’s outworking the other fools, so he’s earned it.

Comes NIL ready

Sam Hartman signs with menswear brand Mizzen+Main

Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman is in the holiday spirit.

The redshirt junior posted an Instagram ad with the menswear brand Mizzen+Main this week. As part of the agreement, the brand is letting Hartman gift presents to 20 of his teammates. It’s a generous offer from the brand and lets the quarterback thank his teammates ahead of Wake Forest’s Friday night Gasparilla Bowl game against Mizzou.

Vayner Sports facilitated the deal and represents Hartman. The quarterback has built a solid catalog of NIL deals, participating in activations with Wahl Grooming, Candy Digital and Bojangles.

Hartman was sidelined from the season opener after he underwent surgery for a non-football injury. He returned for the Vanderbilt game, however, finishing the season with a 63.1% completion percentage with 35 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

He has yet to announce if he will leave for the NFL or enter the Transfer Portal, but he did announce at the end of November he would not be returning to Wake Forest for a sixth season.

The quarterback holds an On3 NIL Valuation of $772,000. The evaluation ranks No. 45 in the On3 NIL 100, which is the first of its kind and defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by their On3 NIL Valuation. The valuation also ranks No. 24 in college football.

Yes or maybe even the QB for WF. I can’t remember his name but he throws a nice ball too.

Hartman is the WF QB.  I've watched a few Wake games over the past couple seasons, I like Hartman.  Their RPO can be really good and Hartman runs it well.  Rees need to figure it out and apply it here IMO.  Hartman woumd be a great mentor to the QB room also given his experience.  He isn't a statue like Coan but he isn't Book either.

He fits for ND.  He's battle tested.  Realistically the safest bet in the portal to secure for us.
