  1. I think it’s nice that there is a schedule announcement and we still don’t know what school he is choosing. I feel like every pick gets leaked early. A bit refreshing to me.
  2. Thank you - and yes Chris Badger is who I was thinking of - I forgot the exact situation, so thank you.
  3. Seems like things are trending in a positive direction with Davis Andrews - 4* Safety out of Utah. Solid player. Will be interesting to see where this goes - I believe he is planning on going on his mission after HS before college which would mean he is really a 2026 recruit. I am blanking on the name and don't have the energy to go look but I think we had this situation once before with a recruit and he never ended up attending ND (I could be mistaken).
  4. I’m not saying they are misreading it necessarily… I truly don’t know. I feel like it’s a lot of “I know something I just can’t say right now…trust me” and they default to thinking they know more than the coaches quicker than others. In the time I’ve been following ND/recruiting this is about ad good as defensive recruiting has been. We aren’t in the top 4/5 but def sitting in the top 10
  5. I feel like this is kind of IB's/BD's schtick - they say they say just enough to get people riled up that there might be some big problems or someone isn't doing enough to try to gain engagement. I've had to stop following them because it always seems like a lot of words without much substance and I can only take so much of a washed up D3 WR trying to explain how he knows more than everyone else - including non-washed up D1 coaches. Just my $0.02 - I know other's have different opinions.
  6. I hate the fact that I am commenting on this thread but Synoptico is right. The situation isnt much different at OU vs ND - he probably starts the year as a rotation player and looks to earn the starting job by the end of season at Oklahoma.
  7. Forgot about Lambert - the fact he skipped his PSU visit for Harvard is good news for us. Would be a huge get. I don't necessarily disagree on KVA at the moment. I feel like whenever he visits a school it becomes the new favorite and OSU was the most recent. I could see any school being picked and maybe it is wishful thinking but we should know within a month or so.
  8. With Big out for a bit I thought I would drop a few relevant 2024 updates. Carter Nelson (TE from Nebraska; top 100 player) is committing tomorrow. High on NDs board and one time looked like an ND vs Georgia battle. Seems like hometown Nebraska did a great job closing and think he stays home. Justin Scott OV tour ended and I feel like it went almost as well as it could have for ND. Southern schools have faded and it seems like an ND/Mich/OSU battle with ND/Mich out front. I think his next visit will be very telling. If ND can get him on campus in the next month I like our chances, if not then its not a great sign. He does have on OV left which he hopefully uses at ND For the OSU game but who knows if there is a wild card out there. Kygstonn Viliamu-Asa - has visited his 3 leaders - ND, USC, OSU and things seem to be a bit merky... or merkier than before. My gut is it is 40% ND, 30% OSU, 30% USC. So ND is the most likely destination but it is still more likely he goes elsewhere.
  9. I more or less agree with this sentiment. I get the sense the staff is essentially recruiting a 20-22 man "normal class" then adding 5-7 "diamond in the rough" high potential low floor players. I think there will be a lot more players outside the normal rankings we are used to. If we get a 25 man class I think you can assume 15 make it to their senior year at ND. I hope this evolves but this is the sense I get now.
  10. I think he was more or less told he could commit on his visit but if he waited there likely wasn’t room
  11. I am confused by this post. 5 of the 6 games are being broadcast on NBC - the only game that is exclusively on Peacock is Sept 16 vs Central Michigan. I have to think replacing that game wont impact viewers at all. There is really no change from last year.
  12. I think there are always conversations going on behind the scenes... It was pretty common knowledge that Hartman was likely to be at ND before he put his name in the portal. Probably not much different.
  13. I think after todays games we will start to get a little more traction on the big remaining piece.
  14. I'm excited for Micah Bell. Growing up my favorite player was Allen Rossum - I have always thought a playmaking corner, who also returns kicks, was the coolest thing in football. Granted I am no longer 8 years old... but the idea of another corner like that gets me excited.
  15. I don't think the transfer portal (this year) and a 23 QB are mutually exclusive. A transfer portal QB is going to help is in 2023 and maybe 2024 by bolstering the QB room in the short term. Missing out on a QB this year is unlikely to impact us in 2023 or even 2024 (unless it were someone who could compete as a freshman). The concern for me is depth in 2025 where you have Angeli as a senior, no junior, Carr as a Soph, 3*/4* Freshman (assuming we dont go back to back 5*). And if one of those guys were to leave we are in a world of hurt.
