Lacrosse

We need a Lacrosse Thread. ND is #2/4 and whipped up on a highly ranked Duke team last week and play # 20 PSU tomorrow. The game will be on UND.com. I didn't get to see them beat Duke but they were very exciting to watch last year. Go Irish!

Irish Lacrosse will always stand out to my boys.....After a lot of losses in football and one in basketball that we actually got to see in person, ND lacrosse finally pulled through and beat PSU last year when we went to watch them. After the game we found a lacrosse ball on the field and several of the lacrosse players were incredibly polite to my boys and signed the ball. We were totally hooked last year and watched them every chance we could get. They were really good.

I know they lost 5 players to the MLL league and got a couple players hurt against Duke so who knows what this year will bring now. Hopefully the PSU loss was just a hiccup and they have a great year again.

Hey Okie,

I haven't heard so far. I know they were not playing for PSU. I know it happened during the Duke game, which fired them up. I think not having them for PSU deflated them. Hopefully they come back and regroup.

Big win for the Irish LAX team today at #19 Hofstra. The game wasn't on so I had to look at the Hofstra website for information. Apparently Notre Dame scored with 12 seconds left to take a 5-4 lead. Hofstra then went on to score with 4 seconds left to send it into OT where ND finally took care of business and ended it at 6-5! GO IRISH!

Let us know when they will be on tv. Anytime a team is top ten we have a shot at the title.

Hey Okie,

They will be on ESPNU next Sunday, March 11 against a very tough Denver team. Denver is currently ranked 11, and that will go up because they just whipped up on PSU 14-6. It looks like Denver has a great offense this year. ND's defense has been GREAT this year but their offense has been stuck in second gear. They will need to score more than they have been to beat Denver.

Denver @ ND today at 1:00 on ESPNU. Big game for ND.

I actually went to see UMASS take on Penn State yesterday...good game. UMASS beat PSU in OT. Not quite as good as watching ND win but watching PSU lose is close.;)

#7 Notre Dame beat #9 Denver 10-9 in triple OT. Great game. ND started out on fire and built an 8-4 Lead. Denver dominated the faceoffs and tied the game at 8. After some back and forth ND came through to finish them off. Very exciting game. I think they play at OSU this week for thier next game.

Hey Wave,

I am glad to see someone else watched it. I found ND LAX on tv about 3 years ago and I am totally hooked...obviously, I am going to PSU games to see the sport live. Good, high energy game with a lot of adrenaline running around. I will be trying very hard to get a league started in my home town for youths next year. Very entertaining!

ND 8

OSU 7

First, that's 10 in a row over the Suckeyes! Notre Dame really struggled with the face offs. I think they had like 7 out of 20 or something ridiculous like that. Kemp, their goalie, played a good game and they were able to hang on at the end. 5-1 with the second toughest schedule so far is pretty good. GO IRISH!

    • The players are getting paid because there is a market that wants to see success on the field.  Because that market watches, advertisers pay a lot of money to be seen while that market watches.  In return, that advertising money comes back to the school in the form of millions of dollars in various ways.  Paying for better players means even more value for advertisers and more money for Notre Dame to build buildings or fund programs. The average student who goes to Notre Dame doesn’t generate millions of dollars for the school.  If they decide not to go there, someone else will fill the spot so they can have access to the excellent education funded by the football program and its players.  I don’t see why the university would pay students to come (except for the absolute brightest) when supply and demand is in Notre Dame’s favor in a big way.  The alums are part of the market that wants results on the field so their money goes towards those results which in turn increases value for Notre Dame, too.  Paying kids to come doesn’t have much benefit to those alums either… I get what’s being said about working hard to pay for your kid to go to college, but there are just too many folks in the same boat while a big source of revenue for schools is football…the value of the school increases if football thrives.  It’s simple business, unfortunately, and ordinary students are the consumer.  Nobody pays consumers if they want to stay in business.
    • OK, fine, I'm getting excited.   We've been winning a lot of these. My take:  Golden commit forces Zackery hand?  Takes the last ND DB spot? It's nothing but expeditious!  Was always the answer.  No other reason to move up his commitment.   I expect he will commit to his dream school for a shot at the Natty!  The synergy is real here.  It's the staff, too, but it's bigger.  Like minded kids.  And they're all conspiring to come together for the title shot, and this staff has them convinced it's in South Bend!
    • Slight nit, take the government out of guaranteed student loans.  Single handedly has been the biggest cause of soaring tuition and crushing debt for borrowers. Otherwise I'm in between as far as NIL.  It's chaos currently and we are still in Flux with the changes that have happened and stuff that's still to come.  We are far from settled in this shifting landscape of college athletics.
