  1. Classic. You just won the internet.
  2. Hey, we won a huge game! Enjoy the moment, folks!
  3. Faith is indeed da man! And, thank you. That is very kind of you! This thread and the whole forum brings back so many good memories, that is no lie.
  4. Faith, I see you! Keeping this thread alive! You, my friend, are the epitome of "a trooper."
  5. It is a good time to be a Notre Dame football fan. Really, with what the Notre Dame women bb, hockey, soccer, lacrosse, track and field, cc, and fencing teams have done over the last 5 years, it's a great time to be a ND fan, period. (Oh, and don"t forget the Garth Brooks concert and the upcoming presidential debate on campus.) I have enjoyed these years as much as I did the Holtz years. With fewer ulcers. That BC loss almost killed me. Go Irish! Go Domerdomain. And Happy New Year, brothers!
  6. ND grad, 'nough said, of course he is welcome. Interesting question tho': is he getting a graduate degree from FSU?
  7. We were truly tested and we won 10 games. Our only losses came at the hands of the top 5 teams in the country. I am happy with that. No apologies. If we are talking about my own life where I am in control (for the most part) and I know unequivocally (for the most part) where the blame lies for my losses; then I am not going to be satisfied and there will be blood. And sweat. And tears. And some gnashing of the teeth. But when it comes to Our Lady's football team, I am a fan: a guy who enjoys and appreciates my team and this game. A guy who supports our players and coaches and the university. Not a critic or an activist or someone who feels entitled to make demands. Certainly not a hater. Because ain't nobody got time for all that.
  8. ...the new banner and... a sunny late October afternoon stroll around Saint Joseph's Lake. https://www.instagram.com/p/_lBBLsQvZr/ http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg141/donjuan190/f04c06ea-0e5e-4529-8a7b-3e9628cc581c.jpg
  9. Theodore Roosevelt would disagree. Losing while striving against great odds is only failure when it leads to quitting. For the man who struggles on, "at the worst, if he fails, at least [he] fails while daring greatly."
  10. Has anyone mentioned that the Irish played, all in one season, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best teams in the country? Yes, there is an argument to be made that other teams were better than Ohio State and/or Stanford; but there is also a strong argument that those two were better than any other team not named Alabama or Clemson. What's more, no other team in America can say that they were tested to that degree. Even Alabama, playing in the SEC and championship tournament, really only played the 2nd best in team in America and maybe one other top ten team. It was a pretty good Michigan State team: good enough to catch Ohio State napping but, based on the Spartan's performances against Alabama and Iowa, not nearly as good as either Clemson or Stanford. And after Michigan State, the quality of the Tide's competition falls off precipitously with no one else in the top ten. Granted, Notre Dame went 0-3, and if you want to argue that a miss is as good as a mile, then maybe you think there is no merit in pitting yourself against the best. Me, I like to think playing competitive football against the very best in all of college football will pay dividends down the road. Iowa was a better team than Notre Dame this year because, what, they beat up on the Illinois State Redbirds, the North Texas Mean Green, and the Iowa State Cyclones? Or was it because they beat Pittsburgh on a 57 yard field goal? Please do not tell me that it was because they lost to Stanford by 29 points. C'mon, man.
  11. Modern day Notre Dame is Father Hesburgh. In reality, there is no way to separate the two. If you want to criticize a coaching choice in which he was involved, that is one thing. The original statement went way beyond that. I would strongly object to anyone using those words or showing that kind of disrespect for Our Lady's University while at the same time claiming to be a fan of her football team. Showing such disrespect for Father Hesburgh IS disrespecting the University of Notre Dame. That priest went far beyond earning our undying love, appreciation, and deepest regards: his tremendous contribution and lifelong devotion to Notre Dame demand it.
  12. Exactly. That was perhaps the most thoughtless post I have ever read on this forum.
  13. As I recall, at one point we had commitments from both Bosa and Day. Am I just dreaming that? Can you imagine?
  14. You start the guy who you think gives your team the best chance to win. Then let the cards fall as they may. Also, in this day and age, and in Kelly's system, if you are the backup, you can count on seeing meaningful minutes of PT down the road.
