This would have been closer, but McGraw simply is not as good a coach as Geno. There's no way Lloyd would play as out of control as she does if she played for Geno. There's no way there'd be so many uncontested open shots. There's no way we'd turn the ball over as much. They are simply more disciplined and tougher.

The team shot 32% and Loyd was 4-18 from the field.

That is horrible. And they still only lost by 10 after UCon hit some big 3s down the stretch to close it out.

Close but no cigar again. If you replaced Loyd with Diggins tonight then they would have had a shot.

Just got back from Oklahoma's. UConn is really good. Awesome defense, and they were hitting the shots. Okie says look out for next year. Seriously, UConn is losing some serious talent, and all of our starters are back next year. Very proud of these girls though. They are tough and battled all tourney.

Great job girls and Coach McGraw!!

I didn't see the game but checked the box score. What was going on with Lloyd? Was she hogging shots or did they just keep dishing to her, waiting for her to find a groove?

Played really out of control. tried to hard alla McBride last year

Yeah, that's never a good thing. That's three games in a row where she didn't have a good night shooting but others picked up the slack before, like Allen against Baylor.

Oh well, it was a good run that came up short again.

Uncharacteristic mistakes and easy lay ups missed, for the most part they've made their lay ups. isn't that great IMO, but Allen forgot how to play the point.
Uconn like I thought

UConn isn't that great??? What are you smoking???

And you are correct McGraw isn't as good as Geno. Of course UConn gets the best talent in the country but ask yourself why..... it's because Geno knows how to coach and WIN. What female high school BB player wouldn't want to play for him???

Obviously an amazing year for the Irish, but that game was brutal. Pretty amazed how many turnovers and missed open shots/lay-ups they had. Unfortunately, next year will probably be the same thing....Get to the championship and lose to the mighty uconn...

That's the damn shame. We were still in it even though we turned the ball over so many times unforced and couldn't hit a damn thing. We were playing pretty good D and that kept us in it.

I am sure UCONN's D contributed to some of our miscues, but a lot of the turnovers were just really bad decisions.

Their star only had 15 points I think, but she didn't miss 14 times like our star - that hurt.

UCONN is the gold standard, but we are not a bad silver. Next year might be interesting if we get some help from incoming freshman.

I wasn't all that impressed with UConn, had ND made their shots they would have won the game.

ND will have another great team next year and it'll probably be ND and UConn again next year playing for the title.

Ugly and sloppy game top to bottom. Turnovers, missed lay ups, blocked layups by the backboard (lol), passing into covered lanes, etc. UCONN was better disciplined and coached. Youth showed up on the Lady Irish. Also, the Huskies were the more physical team and the pushed our gals around a bit. We had more speed but it was not utilized.

Yep, all that, and the shooting strokes on every Uconn player is pretty damm impressive. On top of that, they play w/a confidence that some of our girls just don't have, as in they don't pass up wide open mid-range jumpers like our girls, who will pass that shot up and try dishing off (which many time results in a turnover.) Hopefully a year of maturity will put us right there w/a legit shot to knock that freaking team off.

Uconn wasn't that great IMO also. If ND makes simple lay ups, they win the game. Yes, ND turned it over a ton, but don't think that would of mattered if they make easy shots.
