  1. Joe Burrow's final season statline: 402-for-527 (76.3%), 5,671 passing yds, 60 TDs, 6 INTs, 4 rush TDs. - Record 60 passing TDs - Record 65 total TDs - 2nd-best completion percentage ever - 3rd most passing yards ever - Over 6,000 total yards - Beat 7 top-10 teams - Heisman - National Title Insane.
  2. I don't remember in my life watching a more complete QB than Joe Burrow. Not just being able to accurately throw it downfield but his ability to run fast enough to escape pressure, sidestep in the pocket, vision to cut, and just pure moxie to beat the opposing team across the line. He's just the right amount of cocky for me. Loved his cigar moment. Reminds me of Tommy the GUN Rees. :llama:
  3. Thanks guys! lol. A little late seeing this.
  4. I don't see this as a problem, personally. He simply wants more playing time and he isn't getting it unless Book gets hurt. Good programs have QB defections. Look at Blake Barnett, Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts...okay, maybe some of these aren't very comparable to Phil but you get my drift. lol.
  5. I think he has a special needs child as well which obviously plays an important role in his coaching destinations.
  6. Does Kelly have supporters? I haven't read too much praise on here over the years. I still think that college athletes need to be motivated. This is why I prefer a coach who can be tough, yet can motivate players to go beyond. Kelly is and will always be a CEO-like coach and not an emotional motivator. It works some times but when adversity hits, it usually becomes the antithesis of motivation. Sign me up for a motivator whenever Kelly decides to go pro.
  7. Hopefully this issue has been resolved. Let me know if anyone still has problems specific to ads in forums--not the state of ND football lol. That's something I cannot fix.
  8. I think our defense will force quick slants/screens/pitches and sideline throws to the WR's. I know they have explosive weapons at the WR position but they haven't played a defense of the same caliber of ND's and will not have all day to chuck it deep. With these quick throws, I can see some off-target (maybe behind the WRs/RBs) balls leading to tipped and deflected balls and hopefully a pick-6 or an interception or two. USC will probably connect on a couple of medium passes and maybe a deep jump ball or two, but I just don't see their inexperienced QB having the time to consistently get the protection he needs to heave it downfield. As an aside, If any of this ends up coming true, I will do the Fireball dance. I'm just guessing here like the rest of you. The one thing I can say without a doubt though is our defense will be the best defense USC sees all year. I would even call it an elite defense--but I don't want to hex it. Oh, and here's a quick highlight of my Rockets beating BYU. USC really hasn't played anyone like ND yet so it's hard to gauge them. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/QSMXN2rierM" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  9. His WRs seem to always have a ten-yard cushion around them...

Sometimes I wish the coaches would actually call mandatory set plays and not allow Book to opt out to something else. It appears on film he made the wrong read several times that resulted in crucial missed 3rd down conversions.
  11. I was thinking more along the lines of a disassociative disorder. Or the ability to not be affected by emotion--to remove yourself from it. Rees had the demeanor to not let Kelly get in his head all the time and it was natural for him. Hoping Ian can resort to this. Otherwise, his wild flinging will be off due to "trying to do to much", which simply means he knows Kelly's high expectations regardless of his calmer approach. It eventually comes out during gametime. He can't hold it inside forever. lol. And personally, I like Kelly. He's brought ND back a couple notches. But I'm just being honest. Instead of playing like you're scared of your coach, I would love to get back to the days of playing FOR your coach. Even Holtz, who would yell and pull facemarks, had his players fighting for him for most of his tenure.
  12. The pressures of being a starting QB at Notre Dame for an entire year-plus compared to the pressures of being a backup QB--sandwiched between an experienced starter with great athleticism and a young PA high school legend--probably widely differ. Hope he eventually learns to manage that difference and get some of that care-free Favre back. You almost have to be a complete sociopath to play QB at ND with Kelly as the coach, imo. No emotion. Just cold, black, dark, eyes. Every emotional upswing and Kelly-inspired lead zeppelin, simply rolls off Ian's back as he flip-tosses his majestic 'stache and proceeds to shotgun a warm can of Jolt. Let's hope the defenses Book lines up against--from here on out--need a bigger boat I honestly forgot where I was going with this DO NOT TELL ME HE SHAVED HIS STACHE LET US PRAY. -DJ
  13. Huh? Game starts at 8pm and countdown says two hours. Unless it reads differently on my end...
  14. I vaguely remember that. Maybe we should start banning people so we gain front page contributors. lol.
  15. What about Big Sean?? Irish Calves always had good information.
  16. I actually have an RSS feed that goes on the front page but it wasn't loading properly so I turned it off until further notice. Good points all around. It simply needs more love. We've got mambots, wombats, widgets, polls, chats, and other various capabilities. But it doesn't make sense IMO to do all of that without semi-regular content creation along with it. I think it's the one thing we miss out on but I also understand why. This is a hobby site so it's gonna be hard to find somebody who can both write and captivate without having a career already in it and without the reciprocal salary. Contributors can get paid, but it won't be what a writer gets paid.
  17. When I came aboard, a guy by the name of Warren ran the site. Pretty sure he still does--however, he is the behind-the-scenes owner. Warren and his West Coast corporation own several sites that generate advertising dollars. DD is the sister site of Irish Envy. Irish Envy is kind of the Cadillac and DD is kind of like the local transit bus. Personally, I prefer the bus but that's because I don't need a lot of frills or "up-votes." The bus moves things along and usually can handle a lot more users. I like our Reddit-like grit and freedoms to break information. Sir John was DD's true champion who led with his enthusiasm and passion on a daily basis. There really was no dead period with Sir John. He brought me aboard and I kind of learned the backend of things by trial and error. (OMG, I deleted the entire site!! lol) This is funny to me since I now run an entire city's website and help handle their public relations. DD is owned by WM Media Corp. I work primarily with their midwest developer, Austin Arnett. Austin lives in Indiana and is a graduate of Ball State University so he understands ND football better than most developers. He handles any technical service we may need--not found in our CMS backdoor. I usually bug him once a month and maybe more during the season. He's a pleasure to work with. Since I've been here, we've added a live chat feature, a countdown clock, announcement capabilities, changed the aesthetics, implemented security features for new sign-ups...etc. We've also added social media accounts and have maintained them. We've also encountered all kinds of issues and have overcome. I still remember the "live chat racist" we had for a couple of weeks. All in all, this has been an evolving site. Some members rarely post anymore, (ahem DomeandDomer and ND Fanatic) and some have moved on. But we've also added a lot of new members as well. I'm currently finishing up grad school so I've been a little less frequent these last few years but I think after this season I should be back to normal participation. I still have the itch. As an aside, Austin has mentioned to me the plausibility of paying for articles on the front page. (Yes, we have a front page that Faith dutifully runs for us) So if anyone wants some extra beer money for the upcoming season, this could be your avenue for obtaining it--and from the leisure of your home. You know that electric smoker you've always wanted for gameday ribs? Writing ND articles could land in on your doorstep. Seriously.
  18. Great pickup! Sounds like he has an educationally-focused family, too! Very important in my opinion as the studies get more intense throughout his time at ND. Great pickup, again.
  19. The wood is perhaps one of the most admired aspects. The buttresses were before their time.
  20. This is really sad. They were able to save the art and religious relics though and it's now being reported the two towers will be saved as well. But still, what a catastrophe. My father was just there in the fall and took photos of Notre Dame. It's weird seeing them now and has to be hard for him to see as well. He's an architect and an '73 ND grad with a strong affinity for historical structures such as this. He could give guided tours better than the tour guides--and according to my mother, he did when they were there just months ago. Sad to see it burn to the ground like this.
  21. Do we need to find a transfer kicker? I missed three quarters but it seems as though Doer has the yips. Didn't see any punts and have no idea about kickoffs. Maybe we should just go for every fourth down and attempt two point conversions?
  22. I don’t update the banner and I may or may not drink some fireball during the live chat.
  23. I'm taking the 'throw out the numbers' approach with this game. Either ND shows up and plays complete on both sides of the ball, or they don't and probably end their season. This team can be a Jekyl and Hyde. I'm just hoping the coaches call a great game that sidesteps Clemson's strengths and keeps them guessing. There's no reason to hold anything back, now. I'm hoping to see some creativity and aggression. Numbers be damned. On any given day...
  24. Yes. Not sure what happened to the first template you emailed me. Just went off old template for this one.
