Rich Pay Most of The Taxes

I think it's fairly obvious that a consumption tax is the only "fair" way to tax the people. You pay your fed taxes on everything you personally buy. That will never happen though because the government won't give up their control over tax income. So I suppose we're at an impasse and the people will remain on the losing in. Well, the working people at least.

The top 1% of taxpayers in 2007 paid more than the bottom 90%.

And Obama and his minions think they are not paying their fair share. LOL!

Good the top 1% should pay pay the most, since you are obviously not in the top 1% why do you care. It makes no sense most republicans are not even in a republican's tax bracket.

I think a "flat tax" would work better than our current system too, but that would leave too many blank pages in the tax law binders.....

Yeah and the top 1% control like 80% of the money. Your point? This is more a fact that the middle class is almost gone, which is what made our country great.

I'm not sure what being a conservative has to do with tax brackets, but apparently you do.....

Because he's obsessed with the thinking conservatives dont raise taxes and only liberals do. Already been proven wrong, but refuses to acknowledge it, due to his stricken idealogy.

I am in favor of this. And the biggest flaw I can see is that it is hard to control internet taxes. Well if you take half of what the IRS takes from our budget you could probably find a way to fix that.

However much money they "control" belongs to them. They earned it. No one has a right to confiscate it. If I work hard to make money and you sit on your ass, you are not entitled to it. Simple as that. That the top 1% own 50 or 60 or 90% of "money" means nothing. So what? Work hard to accumulate wealth in this country and you should be rewarded and it's yours to keep to do with as you see fit as a free individual not owned by the state, and not be punished by having some stinking annointed elite bureaucrat socialist confiscate it.

I agree with this. I've said it on here before that this country was built by the middle class and their desire to become the upper class. That drive created incredible invention, ingenuity, and productivity. Liberals think that those making more money should pay more of societies dues so what's the incentive for the middle class to drive upward? Furthermore, dems are the kings of entitlements to the lower class also giving them no incentive to push forward. This creates a system of purely "haves and have nots" and will lead to the collapse of society because the have nots will far outweigh the haves. It is economically unsustainable for the government to support the lower class. The only way to remain viable is to provide incentive for them to drive for a better quality of life. Helping is different than supporting.

When you look at the Senate version of that health care debacle, increased taxes came at the $200K a year level. That certainly would affect a hell of a lot more people than the 1% quoted above. I contend that we, as a society, don't owe the lower class anything. Rather THEY owe society to become a more productive member. The former drains the group dragging it down as a whole. The latter grows the "machine" and makes everyone's life better. I realize this isn't possible in for many people in the lower class for various legitimate reasons. But the vast majority CAN help the circumstance they are in if the WORK at it.

The dems have repeatedly block the flat tax idea because they contend the percentage weight overall would be more of a burden on the lower class. It's the mentality of 15% of someone making 20K a year will affect them to a greater degree than 15% of someone making 300K a year even though the percentage is the same.

Then graduate the percentages based on income, similar to what is done now, but get rid of all the write-offs and tax loop-holes that people utilize. have $0-200K pay 12%, 200K-500K pay 15%,....etc. No matter how you want to set the brackets, its got to be better than what is happening now....

If there were no rich people placing their money in banks and investing, there wouldn't be any money in circulation for young people who wish to get a loan from a bank to buy their first car or home. We should all desire to be successful and become financially independent by working hard, saving hard, investing wisely, and putting ourselves in a position to take care of our families. We should seek to be responsible contributors to society by working for a living and training ourselves to learn a trade or profession rather than to be a burden on other families and being parasites. Self-sufficiency should be our goal, not government dependency. Any dollar you get from the government, unless you paid for it specifically like Social Security, comes from the sweat and labor of some other American. We need to abolish socialist programs and teach people to be self-reliant and not expect that someone else will take care of them. Those who fall on hard times should be helped by their families, friends, and charities until they are able to get back on their feet and find a new job and get back to work rather than sit back on unempoyment or welfare sucking off of the producers.

Well I'm just not rich as you are Rockne.

And with Haiti, the poor I'm simply not crying over your tax problems. Ok with you? My daughter lost her house to 'rich bankers' So? We sure have to differ on this my friend.

Seems odd when so many now can't afford to light or heat a home.

No friend my daughter couldn't make those "Mortages she agreed to". Can you tell me why a hubby leaving her with 3 kids and a baby on the way tossed out in the street is a coll tough conservative Ideal. Your tough till it comes to your own mythical american values. Just sayin my friend. Re read some 30's history during the great depression when people were kicked off their farms, homes and had no lively hood. You don't understand standing in your ignorance and in not understanding you continue to harm many.

Can I not speak up for the poor or downtrodden? Is that not allowed by some secret rule I do not know of at DD?

The middle class are bein crushe and its worse for the poor. I presume you have some Christian church wich will feed your family, get you back on your fee, give you a car for medical emergencys you have to pay for and get you a $7.50 job?? Tell me later hard struggling tax payer while the rich get off free.

You may be correct but what is the source? Also the tax money collected went to help fund WWII, Korea, the building of infrastructure such as the interstate system, etc. What is this money being spent on now? Government take over of car companies, banks, "stimulus" to help democrat donors, kickbacks for votes, and other things that the middle class keeps getting screwed on.

Who lowered these taxes? John Kennedy.

Once again victimhood. The answer for all of you is to become dependent on government so you can live off of people who work and earn their money. SAD. It's time people start depending on themselves, local community and family instead of big government stealing from others to provide for you.

Kind of pathetic what our public education system has done to people. We have generations of Americans who don't understand how an economy works.
