  1. Ehhh... That's a function of the number of players in the class. Average: USC 2019 0.8630 Notre Dame 2007 0.8347 And they still have time to add more.
  2. Ty was even worse: 4* Vernaglia, 3* Walker and everyone else 2* was one class
  3. 110% incorrect. The Virginia Plan called for proportional representation. The New Jersey Plan called for equal representation. The Connecticut Compromise created the hybrid system of equal representation in the Senate and proportional representation in the House.
  4. ND's academic standards were too high for a "long snapper recruit", so he ended up at USC... https://twitter.com/HashtagGriswold/status/1105523537073319936
  5. Ahhh that makes sense. There was a countdown clock on the 247 Sports website. My guess is that someone input the time as noon without realizing that the website recognizes Eastern Time.
  6. I doubt that they're having separate press conferences. Schools usually have joint ones. https://twitter.com/Dawgman247/status/1092566035708837888
  7. I don't know why you'd name captains for Spring that wouldn't be there in the fall. That creates a leadership vacuum and would be a waste of the SWAT captain's time. If they're going to transfer, they'd transfer in the early spring. If Kelly wanted them gone, he wouldn't elevate them. No point in risking injury if the team was looking to pull your scholarship.
  8. Strike Book, Finke, Kareem, Gilman, Okwara, Eichenberg and Elliott from that list as they were all named captains.
  9. Dexter Lawrence doesn't even have hair long enough to necessitate hair gel.
  10. Apparel companies make special edition shoes for non-basketball cross-training all the time. I remember when ND Football players were issued blue and gold Adidas basketball sneakers. Yes, players get issued more than they need but excessive SWAG is a loophole in the NCAA amateurism rules. Remember... Even UNC football uses the Jordan jumpman logo, rather than Nike.
  11. The equipment is given to them for training purposes, otherwise it's compensation in kind. And what happens when boosters pay above market for resold equipment with a wink and a nod?
  12. Hit the nail right on the head... http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/2018-19DIREC_BowlSubdivisionFootballRecruitingCalendar_20180628.pdf
  13. Cam Hart committed on July 4, 2018. TJ Sheffield tentatively "committed" on July 6, 2018. Staff probably didn't have time to re-evaluate WR Recruiting over the holiday and develop a recruiting plan in light of the change of circumstances before Sheffield committed.
  14. This will only make things worse. Return teams will probably take the 25 yards 80%+ of the time. This will incentivize short kicks (pooch punts?) to the return team's ~35 yard line which will lead to some jarring hits. There will be the collisions of an on-sides kick only with the kicking team being at full speed.
  15. Ahem... http://www.espn.com/college-football/bowls09/news/story?id=4780216
  16. I feel sad for all of the creditors that could have trouble meeting payroll because people like him live life so irresponsibly. There are losers in bankruptcy and often they're the ones with the least culpability in the situation.
  17. It's supposed to be 2 years but Shane Waldron got three under Weis. GAs do get paid. I just can't remember if it's considered a salary or a stipend.
  18. It is a violation but they didn't intend for it to be prematurely included in there. It's a bit reckless to put the release together that way. Someone could have been merely trying to cut corners and screwed up in the process. If you're watching UND's coverage, they have all their commit graphics cued up and ready to go the second the commit's fax comes in. This was probably the same sort of thing.
  19. I wouldn't necessarily put too much stock in this saying that EV is headed to ND. It could very well be that ND is just trying to have its work done in advance in case he does commit. Having to do player research and put together a press release after the announcement would look unprofessional IMO. Worst case scenario is that they erase a paragraph from the PR. It does, however, suggest that ND thought that there is a strong chance that they land EV. Why would a recruit have to "do the hat thing" if he already verbally committed? Seems suspicious.
  20. If they were to change to green, it wouldn't be the first time that blue was used for warmups and then a quick change to green. It could be all smoke and mirrors. In the past, they have even kept the players out of the loop by putting the blue jerseys on extra sets of pads in the locker room on gameday (although some of them figured out what was going on because the pads didn't fit the same). For all we know, they just did this for show with one blue Te'o jersey.
  21. Although the HCs should have some oversight of the process because it's their name that's on the line, it's usually the Sports Information Directors (e.g., Brian Harden at ND) that fill out the ballots because the coaches are usually concerned about other, more important things than watching dozens of non-opponent games each week.
  22. Pretty sure that the scholarship counts against the highest revenue earning sport. So a ND basketball-football athlete would count against football. A Duke basketball-football athlete would count against basketball. Also, I believe that they count only if they are actually competing. If I recall correctly, Maust was on a baseball scholarship even though he practiced with football. It wasn't until he actually played football that his scholarship switched over to count against football.
  23. I find it hard to believe that ND would turn down an elite CB like Tee if they were willing to allow him to EE. Maybe there were Clearinghouse issues. He might have been told what the minimum ACT score was but didn't realize that qualification is more complicated than that. There's a minimum ACT score that corresponds to each HS GPA: https://web1.ncaa.org/eligibilitycenter/hs/d1_standards.pdf
