  1. What girl is going to date him if he doesn't know the meaning of "commitment"?
  2. ND jumped ship with Adidas when Adidas gave Michigan most favored nation status. In the end, Adidas lost both brands.
  3. He didn't have to decide today if that's the case. Who schedules a press conference before the true deadline without knowing what you are going to do? He continues to lie.
  4. His twitter bio said that he was committed to ND this morning. Classless kid. May he ride the bench his entire career and disappoint his benefactors.
  5. Is there a signing schedule like there has been in years past?
  6. I was at a BYU basketball game a month ago. They had athletes promoting their corporate sponsors in ads that are played on the jumbotron during stoppages in play. Could you get any closer to having a university pay the kids directly?
  7. That game started at 7:30. Sanders essentially left the locker room to pander to the cameras.
  8. The benefit of being a personality doesn't carry over to the pros. Money and championships dictate where pros go. You can't swagger your way into getting a top tier pro team subject to a salary cap. I don't think that an ownership group is going to want to get stuck with Deion when he is going to demand a multi-year $10MM+/yr contract for what amounts to a social experiment. Deion's not a serious coach. A serious coach doesn't do GameDay appearances an hour before gametime: [DISCLAIMER: This doesn't mean that he won't do well at Colorado, especially with the opportunities to win championships presented by a PAC-XX without USC and UCLA. It's an apples-to-oranges comparison given the way that player recruitment works in each of them.]
  9. Pre-game masses (both home and away) were like 20-25 minutes long. Really stripped down to the basics.
  10. I know for a fact that they used to have mandatory team mass at the team hotel for away games as well. Not as much fanfare but they did have it. Religion aside, I do think that it had a positive performance impact as it did break up the schedule enough to make sure that players weren't getting hyped up too far in advance of a game (especially night games). Sitting around the hotel on the West Coast until your 7:00 PM PT game is not ideal.
  11. You're forgetting that the transfer portal makes it annual free agency for these kids. If they're any good and only went to A&M for the $$$, they'll probably be inclined to listen to competing offers and head elsewhere. Meanwhile, A&M will have their scrubs eating up their scholarships when they realize that they can't transfer anywhere else. Only way to stop that is to be a title contender. But I don't think that they're going to be in position to make a run while these kids are still in undergrad.
  12. That's not true. Just need to take "graduate classes."
  13. Are the sites going to be tied to a specific seed or are the tops seeds going to pick based in order of ranking? Because that would probably sort itself out for the benefit of the conference champs as geographically the Power 5 conferences are all spread out enough that, except for the Big Ten, they have at least 2-3 natural first picks that generally won't be intruded upon by the others (depending on the pick order): ACC: Orange Bowl/Peach Bowl/Sugar Bowl Big XII: Cotton Bowl/Fiesta Bowl Pac-12: Rose Bowl/Fiesta Bowl SEC: Sugar Bowl/Peach Bowl/Orange Bowl When the lower seeds' fans only have 1 week to put together long haul travel plans when the top 4's have already snagged up the hotel rooms with little travel required, it will make a huge difference.
  14. #1 Team plays the #8/9 winner and only has to win 3 games. #2 Team plays the #7/10 winner and only has to win 3 games. #3 Team plays the #6/11 winner and only has to win 3 games. #4 Team plays the #5/12 winner and only has to win 3 games. #5 Team plays the #4 Team AND the #12 Team and has to win 4 games total. Difference between #4 and #5 is an extra game against a #12 seed. Think of the spoiler teams that have won BCS games (TCU/Boise State/UCF). There are plenty of #12 seeds that could easily pull off an upset in a single game. For the higher seeds, the consequences for ND are even more pronounced.
  15. I just noticed that Swarbick traded away ND's access to a top 4 seed/bye: Harbaugh hopes players get a revenue share from 12-team CFP (msn.com)
  16. He hated travelling to Hawaii with quick turnarounds for such a long roundtrip but it was a means to an end.
  17. South Shore Line (Maps & Stations (mysouthshoreline.com)) can get you to South Bend Regional Airport from Chicago or you can take a bus or a rental car from either of Chicago's airports.
  18. PTSD from the Joe Buck days at Fox.
  19. If you were going to be a top 10 pick in the draft, would you risk your career to play in an inter-squad scrimmage? They're not playing for a national title or even a conference championship. Forbes estimated that Jaylon Smith lost $11.7MM dollars due to his Fiesta Bowl injury. After Injury Cost Him Millions, Jaylon Smith Gets $64M Contract Extension From Dallas Cowboys (forbes.com)
  20. This one can't be underemphasized. So many hangers-on that flood the charter flights only to never be seen once they arrive. I vividly remember the orthopedists (who were never at practices) travelling for a free week's vacation. They didn't even try to hide it as they all travelled with their golf clubs.
  21. They already do this: Peach Bowl Kickoff (chick-fil-akickoffgame.com) Allstate Louisiana Kickoff - Sugar Bowl (allstatesugarbowl.org) College Football Ireland
  22. Taxpayers are going to be footing the bill for player salaries at public universities once that dam is broken.
