  1. The article did mention that. In any case, getting a player (even as a PWO) from IMG Academy is great given the amount of 4 and 5 star talent they have every year.
  2. Xavier's dad was starting safety for Irish 88 championship team. Then spent 30 years in secret service.
  3. Is this the first time in quite awhile that there is only one SEC team in the Top 10?
  4. Does anyone know if the game will be available on YouTube or somewhere else to stream for free after the game is over?
  5. Some things that stand out to me: 1) She was being paid five figures by the football team (as directed by Mel) so conflict of interest even if consensual. 2) Mel lied to investigators about A) the fact that he was in a hotel in Florida B) on official university business during the phone call with the "self-inflicted happy ending". This seemed to be an attempt to say that it was a non-MSU related issue. In any case, the fact she was being paid by the football team negates that position. 3) Mel is "unwilling" to name the one anonymous person who can supposedly back up his version of the story.
  6. Game Day at Colorado this weekend. At the moment, the Ohio St / ND game is the only game between two Top 10 teams. There are two other games between a Top 10 and another ranked team: #25 Iowa at #7 Penn St. and #17 Ole Miss at #10 Alabama. I predict Game Day will be in South Bend for the Ohio St / Irish game. Too many eye balls who watch both teams not to be there.
  7. When was the last time that ND was ranked ahead of Alabama?

  9. Saw that Sam Hartman is around #5 on a few Heisman Watch lists after this week. The games vs Ohio St and especially Southern Cal given WIlliams being on the other team will give him a chance to move up (I hope).
  10. I guess I want to see NC State with less points than the Irish...no matter how it goes down. 😎
  11. SEC also figured out to schedule their way to look better than other folks. 1) By only playing 8 conference games, they add 1/2 a win and remove 1/2 loss from most SEC teams' final record compared to conferences such as Pac ?? and Big Ten who play 9 conference games. The extra non-conference game is usually a win for all SEC schools given #2 and #3 below. 2) SEC teams will often schedule TWO FCS schools. Teams are penalized in the polls for losses more than weak wins. 10-2 with two FCS wins will usually be ranked ahead of 9-3 with no FCS opponents. 3) They play more games vs. the Sun Belt conference than any of the other P5 conferences. Sun Belt is probably the weakest of the Group of Five conferences. 4) The BCS days rewarded the SEC formula since only the top 2 teams played in the NCG and losses were a big part of the ranking algorithm. 5) Top teams in the SEC are probably better relative to other conferences than during the BCS era. Success then created the SEC myth and translated to improved recruiting now.
  12. (I thought I had replied to this before but cannot find my post - I must not have hit Submit Reply before) ND played five RBs the past couple of games. Did Kelly ever let a young RB play who did not know every single pass protection scheme by heart? A bunch of young WRs are playing as well. Some of it is to cover for recruiting misses but very rare during the Kelly/Rees years for even one freshman WR to get playing time each season. What I like about Parker is that he acknowledges that players are not perfect and does not try to pretend that they should be. He does not seem to be afraid to play players who have not memorized the complete playbook. He also has mentioned "failing up" a few times which means allowing a player to grow by making mistakes. Unlike previously where a player might make a single mistake and then never get out of the 'doghouse' for the rest of the season.
  13. Was it Lou Holtz who said that a faster defender who didn't know his assignments just got more out of position than a slower one?
  14. 126. Have we had two people post at basically the same time and both use the same number yet?
  15. I agree but this might be enough to be a tie breaker so that Duece goes from tied for the top of ND's QB board to #2 a little behind Bear.
  16. If homesickness was indeed the reason for him to leave his current high school mid-season, Deuce's attractiveness to most programs has probably just gone down a notch. Given that a school can typically only take one QB recruit per class, if I were a coach, it would be difficult to sign someone with a high risk of hitting the portal. He probably is done for this season as well which will cost him a bunch of snaps as a starting high school QB.
  17. Herbie may have some pull to get them to South Bend given his Ohio St connection

  19. Stanford, Cal, and SMU now in ACC starting 2025-2025 https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/38304694/sources-acc-votes-invite-stanford-cal-smu
  20. I'm hoping that Zeke plays nowhere close to 70 snaps... First team OL sitting after 30 snaps would be great IMO.
  21. Since Purdue is the second team I root for, I am curious how the Boilermakers will look this year with a new head coach and a ton of new transfers.
  22. I agree, if you look at the weakest link, it is probably safety at this point. Then, if you look at strong Irish NFL players (especially for in 2023), then Hamilton is in the mix after Z. Martin and Q. Note that Harrison Smith's best days are behind him at this point. So using Hamilton (one of the best Irish NFL players) to plug one of (if not) the weakest positions on the 2023 Irish team would have the most impact. Other than being a big OL fan, IMO, a healthy Will Fuller would probably be my next choice in terms of having the biggest impact.
  23. BTW, I saw Rochelle across the parking lot in Huntington Beach this past summer. My daughter follows his wife who is some type of TikTok star and she noticed them getting out their vehicle. We just let them go about their day and headed to lunch.
