  1. Had ND beat Ohio St, then ND's following games might have seen more viewers and Ohio St might have less viewers since the Irish would have been a Top 5 team and the Buckeyes would have dropped.
  2. I like that if the Irish make the CFP, they get another $6M which puts them in the SEC/Big 10 territory money-wise. BTW, only independents get that $6M bump. I think it was a away of saying that ND could get SEC/Big 10 if they proved they belonged. Probably the best ND could expect given the voting numbers.
  3. Javeon Campbell being a three star might be deceiving since he has only played one season of football (Junior year of high school). He is also rated as an Edge as a prospect but at 6'5" 260# has room to grow into interior DL. High ceiling type of recruit
  4. Not sure if right thread but Pyne headed to Missouri after leaving Arizona St. He returned to ND to get his degree which makes him immediately eligible to play as a grad transfer. (Not sure that anyone has to sit a year anymore).
  5. I love the fact that Matty having mainly focused on basketball until somewhat recently suggests that he should move better than the typical OL
  6. I will be honest that the lack of an Ohio St offer for an Ohio WR is a little concerning. That said, I have not looked at Ohio St's WR room not recruiting to know if they are set at the slot position which is where I think Terry plays
  7. Given Bettis' profile (NFL HOFer) and the exposure that The Bus has had lately, taking his son is something that IMO you just need to do from a program PR perspective. I am also not going to second guess the coaches when they 1) do this for a living and 2) have seen most of these recruits perform in person.
  8. Not sure that you only want to hire coaches who do not aspire to bigger and better things be it the NFL or increased responsibility at the college level.
  9. It seems that Ohio St has become a bigger player in terms of NIL. Not sure if this is a reaction to Michigan's NC or not. In any case, it has potential to impact ND since Ohio St and the Irish are often recruiting the same prospects. Thoughts?
  10. Or a sign that Freeman had everyone locked up on the early signing day in December
  11. I forgot that today is probably national signing day
  12. Loved seeing this. Another confirmation that recruiting is better with Freeman then we saw under Kelly:
  13. Also funny how they continue to re-rank players who have already enrolled and are on campus
  14. Especially if someone buried on depth chart graduates in May, transferring somewhere else to get one season with playing time might be appealing.
  15. IMO, Wagner competing for LT depends a lot on him adding 15-20 pounds
  16. OT but with regards to Peacock, there does not seem to be DVR capability when watching on a smart TV (with a Peacock app loaded). I watched the Purdue / Indiana MBB game last night and could rewind on a PC but not on the TV. The thing I like the most about YouTube TV is that they will automatically record anything you add to your library.
  17. Imagine Brian Kelly going to Michigan and then bringing Tommy Rees with him as OC. If that were to happen, Rees would be OC for three of the biggest programs (ND, Alabama, and Michigan) in three straight years.
  18. For what it worth, jury is probably still out on Deon. Let's see how next season fares for him. Colorado was in really bad shape so unfair to expect a one year miracle.
  19. It would be one thing if Belichick switched teams after Brady left to a team poised to win big. Sort of like Gruden walking into Tampa Bay after Tony Dungy. But it is a little easier for a QB to switch teams and win a SB (See Manning and the Broncos) compared to a coach keeping a dynasty going given the handicaps the NFL has in place to promote parity (salary cap, draft, Div champs playing other Div champs the next year). Note that Belichick did have a pretty good record when Brady was the Patriots first string QB but did not play (13-6 - ACL injury and InflateGate suspension) .
  20. Their coach was suspended for half the season for cheating two different ways but nothing to see here...
  21. Saw this tidbit: Saban succeeded Pete Carroll as the Ohio State secondary coach in 1980.
  22. ND already doing that for kickers. Southern Cal showed that it might be hard to be (& stay) successful with a true mercenary-based model but Colorado, Louisville and Florida St are trying.
  23. I'm hoping that any NFL teams don't try to pluck any of the staff (not just Golden). Some of the assistants may find an NFL offer tempting... Now that the NFL regular season is over, look for coaching movement to start
