Unfortunately Freeman doesn't talk to the media until April 15. He only has  an assistant per practice and their players talk to the media. The media only asks the head coach injury questions

FWIW, there is smoke that Prince Kollie and new transfer WR Kaleb Smith may leave the team.

Wow.  I think that speaks to the level of competition this spring.  Smith seemed to me like a lock starter based on resume, but haven't heard much from spring reports that he is showing out - very surprising.

Rumors are Smith is leaving ND for personal reasons. No info beyond that.

Have heard the same on Kollie, but also think people might be reading too much into him missing one practice. He could have had a class conflict or something else came up. He just appeared in front of the media a week or two ago, and he's been getting praise from the coaches, even if he is still stuck behind Liafau. Hope he sticks around, but get if he doesn't want to sit on the bench for the third year in a row.

Why does this crap always happens at ND.... if the goal is to win a NC, we need starters who are capable of playing at the likes of Bama/UGA, or heck, even make their rosters. We have so few of these guys on the defense. Based off of college tape, only Morrisson has proven to be on that level. Based on potential? We have a few guys: Botelho, Baptiste, Sneed, Mills, Rubio, Kollie and some of the freshmen. 

Kollie has flashed more in a handful of snaps than Marist has in his entire career (minus UNC 2020). It would be the most ND thing to lose your most athletic linebacker (at a position of weakness) by sticking to the status quo (which has been lacklustre to say the least). Really hoping this is a false rumour.

Yeah, Kollie seems poised for a lot of snaps even if he doesn't win the starting job.  Hopefully he stays.  BUT, if Sneed is getting reps ahead of him at Will, and Zeigler inside, I could see where he'd get frustrated; particularly if he wasn't 100% happy at ND otherwise (could be a combo of factors).

For now, Kollie in concussion protocol. Smith did medically retire.
