Anything and everything BEER

Recommended Posts

Let's amalgamate chat about anything and everything beer.

Just had my first ever Mackeson's milk stout. How this beer escaped my lips all these years is a mystery. Had one at a local import beer pub and ran out to get two six's this afternoon.

So bloody good...

Let's chat craft beer...homebrewing...whatever...

This is a great idea for a thread. I just started getting into craft brews in the past month. Here are some I really like.

All of the lagunitas brewery IPAs.

Brothers thellonius

Ranger

Two headed ale from bells

Any IPA from founders

Kentucky bourbon ale

Gumb ball head and alpha king from three Floyd's

Those are some of my favorites so far. I am going to try some dogfish head 90 minute tonight so we will see how it goes. I am going to buy a bourbon barrel stout next week and see if I can stomach it.

I've recently started cellaring big beers like bourbon stouts to try next year or the year after.

Try Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Super pumped it is finally coming to Canada in May...

Actually did try it! I've drank so much beer the last month! I like Sierra as well. I have been buying singles a lot, so I get to try more brands and flavors. I don't like scotch style ales much, founders dirty bastard was not good to me.

I want to hit Three Floyd's for a tour in the fall on the way to South Bend.

I only generally drink stouts and porters (just getting in to pale ales). My favourite stouts as of late are Barney Flatts oatmeal, Hitachino Nest espresso (from Japan) and Mackeson's milk stout that I had last night.

Not yet. VCdomer just recommended them to me this weekend, I put them on my list of breweries that are gtg, so I will be buying anything I can find from them.

My Antonia is awesome too. I live about 2 mins from their restaurant/brewery in Fairfax, so Im always trying their new stuff. Both of these beers only come in a large single bottle, so be prepared to shell out some dough. I think Positive Contact was like $12 for a bottle.

$12 for 750ml is top end...most 750s clock in around $8-9. But I'm one who doesn't mind paying well for a great beer.

Sierra Nevada at $3 is my pick for great value in the craft beer world.

Has anyone been to Three Floyd's brewery? How far is it from campus? Was reading about these one day limited edition releases that sound really cool.

Highly recommend the new book "Brewtal Truth - Guide To Extreme Beers" for those who enjoy high IBU or alcohol beers. Great read for people who like metal music as each beer is paired with a metal song.

It looks to be about 70 miles away. It's pretty much on the state line.

Had this last night. Very big beer, tons of flavor. It would go great with a cigar or cigarette. I am an ex smoker and this beer made me want to have a smoke. Very good.

For just starting the micros you jumped quick to the Belgians. You may never go back my friend, try Uniborque http://www.unibroue.com/ selections. You can possibly pick up the La fin du monde at Trader Joes for 5.50 750 ml. It is the best deal in town. Also, anytime you see a local brewery take a stab at a grand cru style Belgian GET IT!

I know brother. My buddy said the same thing. I guess my palette adjusted fast. I used to go into a liquor store and try to buy a micro, then get nervous and buy a case of bud. My bil helped me find a few that I liked and it just took off. Thanks for the suggestions.

I was an ex drinker. Thanks to this thread, a year and a half of sobriety down the toilet.
