  1. I know Book isn’t playing his best game. But the O-line and running backs need to pick up the blitz better
  2. I know you’re joking (maybe), but he is truly awful today. He should spend the rest of the day on the bench. False start to extend a drive that leads to a touchdown. Misses a clear angle on a return... that leads to a touchdown. Not sure a special teamer on coverage could have a worse day.
  3. I don’t disagree that Kelly’s programs don’t seem to pan out for QB’s; however, I’m not sure what you expect BK to do to fix BW’s inaccurate passing and horrible decision making. It’s like BW comes to the line with his receiver picked... and the chances of him actually putting the ball on target are 50/50.
  4. I read your comment as it was the coach’s fault for not preparing him, not that it is the coach’s fault for starting him. I agree with you. BK needs to have the balls to sit wimbush or try to repurpose him. Book or Phil need to start.
  5. That's all coaching? I disagree. There were plenty of people open today. He just didn't find them, and we he did, he either missed them or threw it behind them. He could have easily had 5 interceptions today. His inability to hit open receivers has nothing to do with the coaches.
  6. If hitting wide open receivers in stride against a terrible team like Ball State isn't your strength, then we should talk about moving you to running back or wide receiver. Sorry, this isn't G-tech or Navy. He's terrible... I don't care what play calls you make.
  7. A lot of people are going to want to blame BK for the play calling. I don't subscribe to that. BW should be able to make some decisions and make some throws. Actually... I'm going to blame BK for one thing.. not pulling BW. He should have been benched earlier. I don't care what it does to his "confidence". You play like that against a team like Ball State, you sit. Sorry, not sorry.
  8. BW had every opportunity in the world to run on that last play. What did he do? Threw it up for grabs. Actually "throwing it up for grabs" would indicate that someone on ND had a shot at it. They didn't. Sure. BK could call some more run plays. I find it super odd that we are trying to blame a coach for not calling more run plays for the QB. QBs should be able to read defenses and throw... period.
  9. I agree. There should be some more designed runs for two reasons: 1. That's really BW's strength. 2. We need to run the clock some to escape with a win this game. There are some run options for BW... and he's handing off quite a bit.
  10. I'm not going to pretend that the O-line is playing well, they're not. However, can you honestly expect them to stem the tide for 4-5 seconds while BW makes his reads at a snail's pace. If BW wants to do himself some favors, he should learn how to hit the check down guys. He is always looking for the big play. He already has his mind made on where he is going with the ball before it is even snapped.
  11. I completely agree with you. There are a ton of people on this board defending BW and acting like it's on the O-line. BW is taking an eternity to make his reads. Also, when he does actually hit a wide open receiver the ball is behind the route so they they have to stop. BW is a terrible passer/decision maker guys. He can be a dynamic player with his feet, but when teams figure out he can't through, that has little value. Ball State has figured that out... he has -16 rush yards so far today.
  12. Completely agreed. I think Notre Dame is a great academic institution, but I feel that some of the fans overrate it. I work with 7 Notre Dame grads all of which are my age, and I manage them. I went to a big ten school (gasp a public university!). 2 were football players, 5 were not athletes. You can get a good education and be successful later on in life with a degree from some place other than Notre Dame.
  13. Honestly, unless something radical happens, e.g. us beating Standford by 20+, the pollsters will stick with status quo. That just seems to be the nature of polling--if you win, you stay where you are most of the time. I hope I'm wrong.
  14. Upon further review: I overturn my previous post. His elbow is down. He did not get in. Great post, btw. Thank you for sharing.
  15. Honestly, the ball broke the goal line and his forward progress had not been stopped. Did the whistle blow? Who knows? That would be the only thing that would make that play not a TD in my mind. If that were the case, then that was a mistake by the refs to blow the whistle that early. I've said all of that to say this, I felt that Golson had stepped out of bounds before he fumbled. It was an extremely close call. The principle of the matter is this: if it is too close to clearly distinguish, do not overturn the call. That's what they did with the Golson fumble, and they followed suit with the Stanford goal line call. Personally, if I were the replay official, I saw enough evidence to overturn the call. Obviously, the person in the booth did not. ND wins.
  16. Several of my colleagues went to ND... 10 that I can think of right off of the top of my head. One of them played football for Mr. Weis.. so that's kinda cool. I'm always asking him questions about what it was like. I don't expect that to count though ahah.
  17. The Bench Press metric is a freaking joke... I love to see guys in the gym who are 5'4" - 5'9" putting up big weight and feeling all hard... Look at their 13" arms!! No wonder they can bench sooo much.. they look like little T-rexs... Give B Smith a break.. I'm sure he's taller than every single one of you guys claiming 20+ reps at 225. Side Note: I occasionally work out with a D-one lineman who is an absolute beast, and he put up 35 the other day.. and I'm positive that he is well over 190 lbs.. so sorry for being skeptical of numbers in the 20s from 190lb guys, unless you're 5 feet tall and upside down triangles (no legs).
  18. Tulsa's pass D is horrible,.. BUT, Rees can hit a wide open receiver.. something that has been hit and miss for us of late. The Irish D needs some serious work. That was an awesome hurdle by Jackson... he's going to be/is fun to watch
  19. Well,... my advice won't be very helpful, but I'll offer it anyways lol. As far as hotels, I have absolutely no idea.. I live 2 hours away and generally drive up on game day. I would highly encourage you to come early saturday,.. see all that ND has to offer. Check out the Joyce Center with all the heisman trophies.. the grotto (even if you're not catholic it's still special)... the admin hall and the basilica have some pretty awesome paintings.. just walk around (if you don't mind walking), there is soooo much to take in. Last time I was there, I had some backstage access if you will because my dad is friends with someone who is in the IT dept. at ND... got to see some really cool things that most people don't have access to There's decent parking on the north side of campus... the nice ladies at holy cross can hook you up.. if you don't mind a nice mile walk or so.. Oh,.. don't buy passes with the bus people.. riding the bus simply blows... it takes forever to show up and you'd be better off walking anyways (faster and good exercise). I don't drink that often.. so not sure on the beers lol After the game... not too sure. I usually chilled out with my friends who actually went to ND,.. but sadly, they have all graduated now
  20. I must be honest.. I'm a little surprised at all of the BSU hate. They're a good team.. it's just that simple. They've played their schedule and won, period. I don't see very many teams lining up to play them either... even with all of the jaw jabbering that their coach has done. So, why be critical of them when they've done nothing but win and call out other teams who simply refuse to play them? Let me be clear, I'm not a BSU fan by any stroke of the imagination. However, I do have respect for a program that does nothing but win with a bunch of recruits that hardly anyone wanted. I guess they idea of and respect for good coaching has waxed old with us Irish fans.. which is understandable it's been a while. Ok.. I'm done ranting.
  21. source? anyone? Lane Kiffen is the biggest douche in college football.. and anyone who would want to play for him.. well, good luck.. ND is not for you.
  22. Thanks for the prompt response.. Miami? Wow.. didn't really see that one coming.. I must say,.. I'd rather him go there than any of the other schools lists (aside from ND of course)
  23. When is sentreal announcing?? I thought that it was supposed to be today..
  24. Let us collectively take a step back and look at this situation.. Anyone in here been involved with contract negotiations?? If so, then you understand the importance of leverage. We want Brian Kelly.. end of story. There is little doubt about that.. I mean, he was the freaking 'Coach of the Year' and he's taken a small program and thrust them into national prominence. What's not to like? Is that to say that he's a panacea? Absolutely not. However, he is the absolute best that we can do (from what I've seen at least). With Bob Stoops spurning interest, and nothing coming from Meyer... who else are we going to say we are offering??? If Kelly knows that he is it, he could request anything that he wanted in money and compensation. If we don't interview/"express mutual interest" in other candidates, we would be making a huge mistake. As with anything in life, options have value. I say that there is a 5% chance that Edsall gets hired. If he does, I'm out lol... Seriously though, Kelly is our guy. At this point, it's just about the formalities and the numbers. Breathe easy.
