  1. There's a great article on TOS (II) just posted on the front page about the original Deadspin article. Pretty harsh words by TP for the Deadspin "journalists" who broke the story, but went too far... I won't link it, and hopefully me referencing TOS is not a problem.
  2. Come on...I know Don Juan wants to let this guy dangle a little, but I, for one (and I can't be the only one) come to THIS board to stay away from this BS. When I do feel like being amused by a blatant flamer, I go to the II board, which is full of them, many just as absurd as this one. Please keep guys like this off the last great ND message board.
  3. Okay, I am grown man, and it is wrong to feel this way, but I want to punch Jayden Mickens in the head. I've seen about 20 "west coast" hand signals, and I can't stand when guys run out of the group of players to bring attention to themselves. I have no issue with celebrating as a team, but I can't stand the other stuff.
  4. Agreed, Cogeco does not seem to be showing it. At least if it was TBA I could hold out hope! That said, I watched the Michigan game on p2p4u.net and it was decent quality. Now I just have to put together all the tiny broken pieces of the laptop I destroyed that night!
  5. I'm shocked, too, considering the ridiculous punishments handed down to others in the recent past. BUT, some of you are reacting as though there is no punishment whatsoever. I don't know any more details than anyone else, but maybe he's getting mandatory counselling, a zillion community service hours, and being made to speak to high schoolers about the dangers of excessive drinking...or whatever. Wait it out before you start calling Notre Dame an SEC school. THAT is very obviously NOT the case, regardless of what comes of this situation....
  6. Sorry if I missed something, but isn't Christian scheduled to announce today, Dec.7?
  7. ...with the original post. I realized some time ago that I was being short and aloof with my own kids because of the Notre Dame game. Had to get some perspective. I still love what ND stands for, and will always follow and support the team. I finally realized, though, that what happens on a Saturday afternoon in Indiana has no real effect of my life (or at least it SHOULDN'T). I also want to post a quick thank you to whoever posted yesterday that Nick Saban lost to UAB in year one at Bama and Les Miles lost to Louisiana-Monroe in his first year at LSU. The sky is not falling, IMHO, it just feels like it sometimes. I truly believe that Coach Kelly IS the right person for this job and this school. I hoped like all of you that he could pull a rabbit out of his arse and fix things NOW, but I really believe we just have to be patient. Better times are ahead. While Coach Kelly has made some seemingly unthinkable errors, he will learn quickly. To paraphrase Ara, Brian Kelly will need every one of his 20 years as a head coach to be even remotely prepared for Notre Dame. Even WITH those 20 years, though, it will take time but he WILL succeed! Again, better times are ahead, but they are a few miles down the road still... And now, I'm going to carve pumpkins with my kids. See you all in 2 weeks. Go Irish!
  8. Awesome! Thanks so much for taking the time to offer advice. You all have helped me overcome my rampant ignorance. And sorry again if I came off as a little snippy. Not my intention. BTW, what's a Cheniqua??????
  9. Oh, no, no...not trying to be a d!ck at all! I swear! Sorry if I came off like that! (That's why I don't post a lot--intent and tone often seem to get misinterpreted. Sorry about that...) I didn't know you PM'd me, Rocket. I'm not sure I know how to get your message, but I'll try. I wish I could have figured that out earlier! Thank you for the responses again, folks. I do truly appreciate it.
  10. Holy smoke...I visit DD many times a day b/c the people here are unbelievably knowledgeable and there are never obnoxious flamers like at other sites. It seems people on this site attend games regularly, some live in or around South Bend and many have been attending games for years. I have not been to a game since 1992 (I think I messed up my dates in my first post--Tennessee 1991 and Michigan 1992) when I was 17 years old. So I just got a hold of tickets for this weekend, and we are making the 7-8 hour drive after my team plays Friday night AND I CAN'T GET ADVICE FROM MORE THAN 3 PEOPLE? I told my buddy, who is as clueless as me about what to do and where to go, that many people here would respond and give great tips. I appreciate what the 3 respondents have passed along to me--thank you! But I was really hoping someone could give me SOMETHING about accommodations. All the mainstream name hotels are booked and/or a zillion dollars a night. This is my last appeal. We are now intending to stay in Kalamazoo and drive in to SB on gameday, for a lack of other options (seemingly). ONE LAST TIME--do any of you experienced "game goers" have any better ideas (i.e. a little motel few know about, something in Mishawaka or Elkhart? Anything? And I know I can look things up myself, and I have. But there are a million options, and they all seem the same. Any sweet deals I am missing? Is it a terrible idea to stay in Kalamazoo and drive in (leaving there around 9)? Is traffic crazy and we won't get to campus until noon? Anything? ANYthing you can give me will help. Sorry this is an annoyingly long post, but I want to make sure this weekend is as good as can be. Go Irish, (please) beat the Cardinal!
  11. Ah, yes. Now I see. Thanks INYG. Lots of good stuff there. Our accommodations are of most concern right now. Is it possible at this late time to get anything for a reasonable price? I'm hoping someone has a little "insider's info" that might help here.
  12. Thanks for taking the time to respond, BID. That's exactly the type of stuff I'm looking for. Can anybody else offer any advice? BUMP
