I would like to see Bernie take this, but I just don't see that happening. Whether its Bernie or Hillary, they should have no problem taking the presidency over whichever clown the Republicans decide on. Unfortunately, the Republican field is pretty pathetic this time around. Makes one nostalgic for the days of John McCain and Mitt Romney.

I'm a republican...fiscal conservative but socially liberal and here's my thoughts:

1 - Hillary is gonna win just cause of Clinton name recognition.

2 - Bernie has some good ideas but then he takes them to the socialist and spending extreme. Get big money outta politics. Breaking up the big banks. Make the wealthy (corps and individuals) pay their fair share by closing loopholes and applying tax rates. Equal rights for all. Creating a coalition of muslim countries to fight ISIS and all the wars in the Middle East.

Where he goes off the rails is taxation and spending and the war on income inequality. In one sentence he wants to raise the minimum wage to $15 and the next he wants to spend $5.5 billion for a youth jobs program to "make sure teenagers and young adults have the jobs they need to move up the economic ladder." The point of low wages is to create entry level jobs for youth to learn skills. He criticizes the war in Iraq/Afghan as huge blunder/expensive but then wants $1 trillion over five years for infrastructure. Sounds great but not when we're $19 trillion in debt. Add to that 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave; two weeks of paid vacation; and 7 days of paid sick days. Oh and making tuition free at public colleges and universities throughout America. I also thought I heard him say in the last debate the top tax rate will be 45% which is insane.

Clinton is gonna win and crush the republican field cause it is a buncha clowns in the lead.

I was always hoping Elizabeth Warren would have ran. DTC makes a lot of good points about Bernie. I am torn on the min wage increase, I only like it if research were to show all wages would increase without an increase in inflation. And I mean middle class, the CEOs do not need a wage increase as the numbers are already skewed. I do support a youth jobs program and free college. There is a reason that South side Chicago is a war zone and it is lack of jobs for youth and education. Just not sure how it would be paid for. Closing Corp tax loopholes and actually making **** in this country again might help. Sanders is just following most of Europe. These policies are nothing new or revolutionary. So whether you agree with Europes programs or not is essentially your thoughts about Bernie. Hillary will win and I will begrudgingly vote for her as the repubs will probably nominate someone bat ****.

I really think we need the next Eishenhower. The best investment right now is infrastructure and the future is high speed rail, connect the whole country. Now that's a job program the govt can invest money to boost the economy for a number of years and save a **** ton of money long term. And Davis I might consider Kaisch but he is too reasonable for repub votes, probably think he is a socialist communist whatever because he actually has common sense.

South side of Chicago is a war zone because all jobs/manufacturing left due to high union/labor costs/taxes. That left a vacuum for poverty/crime/gangs. Add to that the disintegration of family/values and no one wants to teach down there. So now you have students with little family involvement in a dangerous area with low quality schools...becomes a vicious cycle. Solution is to reduce labor/tax costs by eliminating unions and companies will flock back.

You want to make **** in this country again? You have to compete with overseas and Mexico unfortunately. It's too expensive to add union labor to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave; two weeks of paid vacation; and 7 days of paid sick days. Either become "right to work" state or say goodbye to manufacturing.

No need for $5.5B youth jobs program. Youth jobs are plentiful. Look at Wal-Mart having to raise wages just to find workers. If you are well spoken, responsible, hardworking etc. you'll have no problem getting an entry level job. And if family/school hasn't taught you that then no jobs program is gonna help.

Infrastructure is a good investment. Applying tax rates to ALL corporations and individuals with no loopholes will pay for that. Also, eliminate govt grants and tax deals. Nothing pisses me off more than billionaire owners getting public financing for stadiums. Someone needs to sue state/local govts when this happens for discrimination because I guarantee a mom-and-pop 7-11 wouldn't get the same grant.

Another democrat is fiscal suicide and I think the country recognizes that. Hillary is clearly a liar and got our ambassadors killed in Benghazi. Trump is ego maniac and I don't trust him but he probably rights the fiscal problems. The biggest concern is the Middle East and Obama will leave the next president with Armageddon staring us in the face. Morally we are officially corrupt caving in to Planned parenthood and the harvesting of baby body parts. In the end, God wins and all will know what part they played in the holocaust that surrounds us, murdering innocent babies as everyone turns and looks the other direction.

I fear most republicans are fiscal suicide as well (just not as bad as dems). With the exception of Kasich who will balance the budget and Paul who will actually cut spending on defense. Everyone else will cut taxes while increasing defense spending which will spur the economy but ultimately create a greater deficit. The republicans need to lead by cutting defense spending and then moving onto entitlements.

As for the holocaust around us...abortions happen at Notre Dame and in Catholic communities on a daily basis. I'd say the majority of women are on the pill or some other form of contraceptive...and if you have daughters...they're included. They're not magically becoming pregnant after marriage due to abstinence. It's still disgusting what PP is doing cause I draw the line between contraception and aborting a pregnancy. But in Catholic religious terms they're both one in the same.

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought the Vatican came out recently saying that it accepts standard forms of contraception now as being acceptable.

It just boggles my mind that you continue to make statements that are simply not true. Either bring reliable sources or just hold on to your beliefs, spreading rumors is against the good book.

Hillary is clearly the leader but it isn't the landslide that the polls make it out to be. As far as I'm aware, the polls are conducted by calling landlines of registered voters, and how many young people have landlines? The young people are the ones that support Bernie.

I support Bernie- not on everything but he brings to light many issues that nobody is talking about.

Private prisons: This is the biggest, most ridiculous, conflict of interest around. It puts people in jail who don't deserve to be there and where they can be exploited for free or very low cost labor. Super profitable for them, but morally reprehensible.

And the items that were mentioned above by DTCBND.

I think free public higher education is necessary- why wouldn't it work here when it works for many other developed nations? The same can be said about paid leave, vacation, and maternity leave. As far as the highest tax rate, it was 40%+ from 1942-1987 with the exception of 1947-1949, and 45%+ from 1951-1986. Not ridiculous when it's been that high for the majority of the history of income tax.

I don't agree with raising the minimum wage to $15... From what I've read, this doesn't make a lot of economic sense. Minimum wage jobs will be automated and many people at these jobs will be laid off. Similar to the BP boycotts after the spill, it won't hurt the larger corporation, rather it will impact the individual franchises.

I also don't agree with his proposed ban on assault weapons... First of all, "assault weapons" is a purely political term that doesn't even ban all semi-automatic weapons, making it an inconsistent term. Secondly, mass shootings are a mental health issue, not a guns issue. The focus is on the wrong place. And I think it sets a frightening precedent when the government feels justified in disarming its populace.

My ideal situation is nominations from Bernie and Rand Paul... it would be a legitimate debate on philosophies of improving this country instead of guys spewing whatever gets votes while being stuck in the pockets of lobbyists.

Unfortunately Paul won't win and Bernie is unlikely.

Which one?

The one whom is having a movie made about her despicable actions with Benghazi. I don't side with a party, they're all crooked pieces of s**t if you ask me. If she does win nomination I hope Sanders goes independent to take some votes away from her come Election Day. I don't care that she's a woman, I don't care that she's a Clinton, I don't care that she's a Democrat. I'm a Marine Veteran, I care that she left our men to be massacred defending our embassy.

Maybe you could enlighten me on how she is solely responsible and Bush isn't for 4000+ Dead and 35000 wounded for a war we should have never been in responsible. Or how about what the current repubs want to do by doing it all over again creating new terriosts. Make no mistake, despite this retiric in this board ISIS is sole creation from the Bush admin. Just another shithole that Obama inherited like the recession.
