Wife's uncle contracted necrotizing fasciitis - flesh eating disease after complaining of abdominal pain Wednesday. Thursday he swelled up and they ended up doing an aggressive amputation of a significant amount of his lower body (one leg, part of hip).

 

He's in critical care and it's not looking good.

After several surgeries, he lost his battle this afternoon.

 

Probably a blessing in disguise as his quality of life would have been diminished greatly after losing a leg, his penis and scrotum, his hip and his bowel.
