I think the biggest factor is if the player wants to be there, followed up by whether or not the school has interest in them returning. That was my main question if we are actually actively recruiting these players like we did Houston Griffith or if we've turned the page.

Tosh Baker and Aamil Wagner would be the likely starters at OT for the bowl game then?

Is there any chance any of these players return, kind of like the Houston Griffith situation? Or all moving on to "greener pastures"? Most I'm not too worried about, but I hate that we lost B. James and R. Flores. Next man up though.

We need a homerun hire for WR coach. The on-field product left a little to be desired this year, there's no denying that Stuckey definitely refilled the cupboard. With all the young WR talent at ND it should be a really attractive landing spot for someone.

I've seen that Carr was made aware Rees may or may not be here when he arrives, but what about some of the other 2024 offensive commits/targets? Cam Williams, Jack Larsen and Aneyas Williams are big ones that come to mind. Rees was the secondary recruiter on all 3 and the primary recruiter for Carr.

I don't know how to feel about it, depending on your viewpoint it could be an easy negative recruiting pitch against ND recruits. But it can also be spun as a positive. At the end of the day if Rees accepts the job and leaves his alma mater for what's essentially a lateral move position wise is a massive L. Yes I understand that Bama is loaded and that may streamline his way to a HC gig, but that doesn't matter when it comes to how coaches can spin that to 15-18 year olds.

Sometimes people try to over-complicate things too or coin something with a different name to make it sound innovative. That's a fairly typical nickel front you'll see in 3-4 schemes, especially when your stand up OLBs/edge defenders are rushing, that all but makes it a 4 man front in regards to the d-line. These are nickel fronts by the Patriots, one of the mainstay franchises who incorporate a 3-4 defense. It's about identical to Freeman's "2-4-5".

I wouldn't want him if he turned full circle honestly. If you want to be about the money, I'm not mad at you for it, just say that. Kids obviously worked hard and is ultra-talented, but do it the right way. Make it about the money from the jump. And sure he could have been conflicted, but like many others have said if you aren't just sure, don't sign during the early enrollment period. Stretch it out to Feb. His mom obviously had no clue it was going down like that as her reaction was genuine shock, like she anticipated ND. Recruiting is wild and almost not even worth following with the way NIL is right now. Even when they sign on the dotted line, it's not a 3-4 year commitment these days. NIL can and has swayed a ton of kids just one year into a school. There's plenty of talented kids who get by on talent alone and aren't ready for big boy college football mentally and one year may not be enough to get CFB ready. If they keep jumping ship they're never going to get prepared for the NFL like that.

I want us to unleash Kollie and Sneed. Will there be growing pains? Sure, but nothing beats game reps. But their ceiling is just WAY higher than anything else we have at LB.

You're not off base, the concepts Rees used with Buchner against OSU were extremely too vanilla, we made a bad defense look good because it was so predictable. He simplified the game plan too much, you can't win in major CFB like that. If you don't threaten all levels of the defense you're going to get destroyed against the major players in the CFB world.
