  1. Some feel that Martin will shift to OG in NFL due to his heigth. That would reduce his draft status as OT are much more highly regarded.
  2. I'm not worried about our OL. Martin and Watt are likely to be back so we will only be replacing 2. Plus we have a great OL class coming in next fall. Keep in mind that these 5 incoming OL were offered very early in the process by ND so we obviously liked each of them a ton.
  3. I love the upside of Niklas. Niklas has not been used in passing game much as he was not needed there. But I thought he showed good upside as a receiver. When Eifert is the starting TE, the backup will not be in a position to show too much. Niklas is very athletic and incredible size.
  4. That is incorrect. We still have a chanche with him but would think we need to get him on campus first. He has cancelled multiple times in teh past. But at this time, definitely not an Irish lean.
  5. IMO, Bryant and Folston are much better gets at RB than Isaac. The only way I want Isaac is if James decommits or decides to take other visits and we choose to not deal with these kids taking other visits.
  6. Not 100% but it appears that Perkins was grades & required courses related.
  7. Your comment is simply not true. There are people, granted not most, who feel that ND leads for Keith Marshall. When I say people, I mean people who do this for a living. Personally, I think Georgia leads but I definitely think at the end of the day that we have a serious chance to steal him. And I would say that ND is strongly in it for Agholor. Strongly. All reports have ND tied at top with Florida. Landing Kiel helps with both. ND is heavily in the final mix with Marshall and Agholor. And some feel that we lead for both. Time will tell.
  8. Still just a rumor but it sounds like just a matter of time for Kiel.
  9. Hey guys, been awhile. Hope all is well for everyone. This thread really came back from the way-back-machine. What happened to Sir John? The reincarnation of this thread would even make Chiro jealous.
  10. I promise you that at this time, Notre Dame is strongly in this. As for the official or unofficial, you bring up a good point. But it hasn't been clarified if it is an official or unofficial.
  11. It looks even better next to his highlight film. Pretty impressive.
  12. I 100% agree. He is a perfect fit as a 3-4 DE. ND is not a pure 3-4 so he will see plenty of time as a tackle when in the 4-3. Jones is easily in my top 10 favorite recruits for this class.
  13. I do not disagree with Calves much, but I do believe that ND is heavily in it with Shaq Thompson. They are trying to set up visit to ND right now. U have to take a kid serious when we make the final group and the family plans a trip from Cali to South Bend, IN on their own dime. Deon Bush will not be ND. But to answer the original question, this staff is definitely still trying to add to the safety position. Don't forget Jarrod Wilson. He is a big time talent.
  14. I would not say that he is dissatisfied with Penn State. I'd simply say that he is keeping his options open as he has stated from day one. When he committed to Penn State he said that same day that he will still look at other schools and take some visits. Around that time he mentioned ND as one of those visits.
  15. Are we the favorite? No But when a kid flies from Arizona to South Bend on his own dime than we definitely have a chance.
  16. I absolutely do NOT think that ND will land 2 5 star RB's. I think ND will land a top back that fits this offense perfectly along with a somewhat bigger, more powerful back to compliment him. I also think we land a 3rd back that is more of a 3rd down back and/or slot WR type.
  17. Hey Colin, look up--the sky is not falling. We are HEAVILY involved with the top backs out there. We WILL be more than fine at RB. Elite. And contrary to your negativity, many of those comments you mention are Pro-Notre Dame comments from the RB's. Mathers is very high on ND. Mahone will be here next week. Kimbrow will be here soon with his teammate. Both Marshalls will be visiting, probably in the fall. Mangus was just here. That goes along with many very positive ND comments from the mouths of these kids, their coaches and experts in the industry. What the hell else you want.
  18. Colin, in all due respect I think you are taking a very closed minded, pessimistic view. There's an old, time tested belief with Notre Dame: Get the kid on campus than let's see. Notre Dame is a different case and you can't determine a recruits intentions when it involves ND until he gets on campus. I will not give names as to who I think we will land but I will comment on the many elite RB's that ND is sitting very well with. Keith Marshall--Big connection with Darby and him being friends. I think we are sitting much better with Marshall than people think. No, I do not think it is Georgia. I'Tavius Mathers--ND is very high on him and the feeling is mutual. Great fit for our system. Brian Kimbrow--Elite speed who will be visiting with his teammate in 1-2 weeks. Both have offers. Barry Sanders Jr.--Good fit. Big skills. We are still very much in with him. Chris Mangus--Just visited from NC and liked ND. Not the top choice on my list but a good fit. Byron Marshall--Great talent who is expected to visit. Great fit. KeiVarae Russell--Big talent who has expressed interest in ND but unlikely to leave west coast. Will Mahone--Less of a fit than others but a bigger back that would be a nice compliment. Mathers, Sanders, Kimbrow and both Marshalls are great fits and ND is still in strong with each of these 5. Other guys like Harris and Mahone offer a nice bigger compliment. Will Harris--See Mahone, but better. There are other names with offers from ND but this would be the main group. Colin, we will be fine. Our staff has already shown that they will do a phenomenal job of filling positions of need. See front 7 of 2011 class and DB's for 2012 class. RB will be more than ok. We will bring in ELITE talent.
  19. For those of you panicking about the RB position, chill out. It is early June and we will be more than alright at the RB position in this class. We will end up with atleast 2 top RB's with a 3rd who could be a RB or a slot guy. Let it play out. As for Mangus possibly being as good as Keith Marshall, NO.
  20. Calves, it sounds like the Yuri recruitment is back on track.
  21. Mahone would be a very good compliment to other RB's that ND is heavily going after.
  22. Wilson is a big time talent and would be a huge get for 2012 class. He is an absolute ballhawk. ND is very high on this kid.
