  1. That's good to see. I have not heard that yet. I don't think he has an offer, does he?
  2. blue, it's not always the "player" that is important to the program as much as the "type of players" you are bringin in. Both personality wise and physical skills. In regard to a Spurrier comment, I don't see why a recruit would consider him to be appealing. He has a terrible track record of developing a QB to be prepared for the NFL.
  3. BG, add Marvin Austin to that list of guys that would follow him to Notre Dame. If Benn comes to ND than Austin probably won't be too far behind. Landing him and Andre Jones as DT's would be Huuuuuge.
  4. Yeah blue, I couldn't disagree with you more. After agreeing with you the other day, this sounds alot more normal to say. Clausen means SOOOOOOOOO much to this class. Not only for his own abilities that he brings but you can guarantee that where Jimmy goes so will a bunch of the top rated talent. They WILL follow him. And if you think that is not true than you are kidding yourself. He is VERY important in so many ways. A miss on Jimmy and it is a monster of a loss for this class.
  5. welcome aboard nd1. Hope to see more posts from you.
  6. It just REALLY looks like he is ND and I have been told that he already is a domer but until it is official I am gonna be nervous. He is sooo simportant to the future of this unviersity.
  7. '07 offseason and QB battle is going to be fun, especially since it will be coming off of a National Championship.
  8. Shocking, but I am gonna have to agree with Blue. I don't think Sharpley sitting last year has anything to do with his abilities. It's not like we ever needed a backup last year. if Brady was injured early in 2005 we very well may have ended up seeing Sharpley. I don't know exactly why he sat but I think that Charlie simply saw no reason to burn his eligibility. I watched Sharpley's tapes when he was a HS senior. I liked his tapes. Good touch and a good pocket presence. I just think there is no way to judge Sharpley's abilities on the fact that he sat his freshman year. Freshmen QB's are typically supposed to sit.
  9. If we do land Clausen it will create a problem that we are not used to for quite some time---extreme depth with top talent. It's a nice problem to have.
  10. The strong shall survive and the weak shall stay on the bench or transfer. that's how it works. Rick, if D. Jones switched positions it would probably be to WR, not RB. We'll know for sure in a few years. Who know though, he could turn out to be the best out of this bunch of QB's. He has the talent. I think some people are writing him off too quickly.
  11. Right on BG. Football is won in the trenches. I do look at the rating on Rivals and Scout. Basically, we don't have much to go on beyond that. But the rankings that mean the most to me is Charlie's rankings. In reality the rating companies mean nothing. Our coaching staff's rankings is what matters.
  12. Blue, I'm really not sure what is up with your negativity as of late. But let me answer it like this. For you to sit there and say that we missed out on alot of OL in 2006 is pathetic. We, without a doubt, landed the #1 OL class for 2006. Period. And yes, we needed to. Consider the 2007 DT position this years OL. It is very possible that Charlie landed his top 5 recruits on the OL. Young, Stewart, Wenger, Olsen, Carufel. Webb probably falls in at #6 on our OL ranking. Just my thoughts though. It's not like we are going to land everyone that we go after but to even say anything negative about this OL class is really unbelievable. One really nice thing about this board is the lack of negativity. It's really a bunch of guys who want to take a positive approach to Notre Dame and the recruiting. Not that we don't also discuss the negative things that occur. But, in all honesty, this negative approach by you is getting a little old. And NO. It's not about agreeing or disagreeing with me. That's not the issue. Personally, I'd rather someone just standup and disagree with me when they feel I am wrong. I don't take that personally. But with you lately, it's just the whole pessimistic outlook that you have taken lately. I don't understand it. Sorry for the over the top response but it's starting to wear on me. And I'm sick today. That's never a good combination.
  13. along with a few others. Clausen would be a huge grab just because of what he brings to the field. But I think his biggest impact will be all the other talent that comes with him.
  14. And that is not all that far fetched. Hopefully Clay's grades improve. Ragone and Clausen are very likely.
  15. Leopard, you are correct. But Charlie sure appears to be building his own pipelines. Let's keep believing.
  16. Most of the 40 times that are listed are not from combines yet. IMO, if it is 4.29 than it was not electronically timed. If it is a legit 4.29 than everyone in the country will know who this kid is.
  17. Thompson and Benn are the 2 WR's that I want the most. He has been listed on sites as a 4.28 40 but I highly doubt it. I want to see what the electronic timed 40 is for him. He appears to be pretty wide open for schools at this time.
  18. I don't think that the rumors of his announcement that I mentioned have much validity to them. As far as happening now but it would not shock me if it was public soon.
  19. Rumors are floating on a few other boards that the Clausen announcement could become public within a week. I know nothing factually. But the rumors are pretty rampant right now.
  20. When we land Clausen, eventually one of our QB's will probably transfer from the group of Sharpley, Frazer and D. Jones. Who? I have no idea. But there is a good chance. that's just how it works. The stronger ones stay and the bottom of the depth chart either sits or transfers. I have no problem with that. that has always been how it work and that will not change. In 2007, the QB battle is going to be awesome.
  21. cup, BG and Blue are correct. Weis can NOT say anything. Nor can any Notre Dame representative. So that is not a concern. As for Clausen, I do believe that he is already committed. I've heard it from my ND source and I have heard it from many other individuals. There's alot of smoke right now, there has to be fire somewhere.
  22. I don't really know why Shamrock but I gotta think the kid wants to take in some of the recruiting process. Which is probably a good thing so he doesn't start rethinking his commitment come fall. Ryan makes a good point that he would wait until after signing day so Frazer and Jones don't jump ship. yeah, they have a good idea he may be coming to ND but before NSD nothing is definitive to them. Just a thought here. Remember for the 2006 class Charlie was very strategic on alot of the commit announcements. He may be waiting until the second junior day or even the May evaluation period for clausen's announcement in order to ride the momentum that he will most definitely create.
  23. JK, I absolutely agree with everything you just said. Obviously.
  24. my source says he committed to ND in December.
