Notre Dame's Big Games Also Airing on Peacock

Recommended Posts

Maybe I’m missing something here….anyways, another Peacock thread. Looks like a lot of ND’s big games will be on Peacock this year. I get it. ND fans have been blessed with able to watch ND games basically for free on NBC for many years. But what chaps my ass is this. So the b10 takes over ND’s spot of Saturday games where ND fans now have to pay for their big games and have to watch shitty b10 games in what used to be their slot. Good luck NBC with your viewership in broadcasting Rutgers and Purdue this year.

The industry is changing.  Private equity groups are looking at all sorts of options for replacing cable,  Maybe even replace streaming.  There's a lot happening.  ESPN is exploring moving to an all-subscription service and getting off of cable.  Watching college football two years from now probably won't be at all like it has been over the last decades.  Peacock isn't very expensive, at the moment.  Cable is going to go away soon enough.

But, I'm like most people I think.  I hate having to have subscriptions to dozens of things.  I don't know how Peacock is doing overall.  Having it as the only way to see ND football may add some viewers to the service.

Like NIL, it's the wild west out there.

I am confused by this post.  5 of the 6 games are being broadcast on NBC - the only game that is exclusively on Peacock is Sept 16 vs Central Michigan.  I have to think replacing that game wont impact viewers at all.

There is really no change from last year.

That's exactly where things are headed, and I understand the necessity of bringing in new subscriptions. This is all fallout from the lockdown. All the streaming services and publishers were swimming in dough and could do no wrong. People were at home all the time, so they all benefited. Now these companies need to force people into the same subscriptions and find ways to keep them subscribed. Locking a team like Notre Dame to peacock does that.

My biggest issues with it are the exclusivity factor and their approach. Forcing people to pay for something that they used to get for free is bad business. Period. It should be worth subscribing to because of added value. That's my 2 cents on the matter.

It'll bring in a ton of revenue, I'm sure. I just think it's an extremely thing to do.

P.S. I recently added a Peacock Ad to the footer. If you decide to sign up for Peacock, please consider using that ad since it will help directly support Domer Domain as well (Peacock looks like they disabled it temporarily)i.ashx?foid=156074.11640.1618694&trid=13

Thanks for the added context here, @stay4awhile. I was assuming by the message that it was exclusive to Peacock. That lessons the sting quite a bit.

Which games are exclusively on Peacock?

Yeah I was duped by a click website. I read it and was pissed. Then I went searching at another website and Central Michigan is the only exclusive one on Peacock.
The one I read had Peacock next to the schedule without any NBC next to it. So it looked like all were exclusively on Peacock. Disregard…
