Anyone think Buchner stays?

With Hartman coming in and probably locking the starting position and a 5 Star coming in, does anyone really think Buchner stays around? He was pretty highly rated out of HS wasn't he?

Hard to say.  I don't see a guaranteed spot for him anywhere should he choose to leave for another school.  His injuries have set him back and he has limited time with a limited playbook for many of those appearances.  He's not walking in the door anywhere as the starter, not saying he couldn't win the job somewhere, but he's not a Hartman, Bo Nix, or Pennix with multiple years as a starter.

I predict that he will stay for 2023 and through the following spring practice. After that. It will depend on 1) him getting a ND degree and 2) winning the 2024 starting job (not necessarily in that order)

I agree. Once he builds his resume or finishes his degree its up in the air. I think he stays until then.

He was very highly rated until his senior year got canceled. I think people forgot how highly rated he was before the inevitable fall of not playing any football for a year before signing day.

I think he stays and tries to win the job next year as the veteran of the group. I dont see Angeli winning the spot, Minchey, Carr, and Buchner would compete and Buchner will have the experience over them.

I think he stays. His sister is also coming in as a soccer recruit next year. He probably knows more than anyone he’s one snap away from stepping in. I think Freeman and Parker have some packages in place for him this year, but all bets are off next year. If he isn’t the starter going into 2024, he would have every right to pursue other options that work best for him.

If I were him.. I would first get my degree ..  and then takeoff somewhere for playing time...  knowing there isn't much a chance to go pro..  glory days

I think he stays. If he gets passed by next spring, then its a new ballgame. I would be surprised if he decided to leave any time soon.
