Recommended Posts

Just in case we need a list this football season.

These are all movies that I have seen more than once which is how I am deciding that they are my favorites.

Big Lebowski is my favorite Coen Brother movie.

Best in Show was my favorite Christopher Guest one.

The Jerk was my favorite Steve Martin one.

Airplane I have seen a few times but not in years. Might be time to watch it again.

Caddyshack or Stripes for Bill Murray. I will go with Stripes. Ghostbusters was never my favorite.

I was a big Harold and Maude fan when it came out.

My all time favorite - YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. Madeline Kahn was awesome.

I only saw Sunshine cleaners once but I really liked it.

Agreed with Planes Trains and Automobiles

Neal: Del... Why did you kiss my ear?

Del: Why are you holding my hand?

Neal: [frowns] Where's your other hand?

Del: Between two pillows...

Neal: Those aren't pillows!

_____

Neal: He says we're going the wrong way...

Del: Oh, he's drunk. How would he know where we're going?

_____

State Trooper: What the hell are you driving here?

Del: We had a small fire last night, but we caught it in the nick of time.

State Trooper: Do you have any idea how fast you were going?

Del: Funny enough, I was just talking to my friend about that. Our speedometer has melted and as a result it's very hard to see with any degree of accuracy exactly how fast we were going.

Besides PT&A, can you (without cheating) think of any movies based around Thanksgiving?

And while relatively new, as a huge fan of the collect work of all the actors involved, this movie skyrocketed up my list of favorite comedies. I don't think I've ever laughed like this in the theater.

100%.. Still shocked at how many people haven't seen it.. I mean, the plot-line alone says it all..

"Self-proclaimed stuntman Rod Kimble is preparing for the jump of his life - to clear fifteen buses to raise money for his abusive stepfather Frank's life-saving heart operation - so he can fight him."

I LMAO every time I see PT&A, and I'm thinking I'm about due to watch it again since its been years for me. Martin and Candy(RIP) was pure comedy gold in that one. I won't post it but the car rental scene was priceless and this one IMO:

This is cool because there is a huge list here of comedies that I have never never heard of.

Of course, they may be a reason that I have never heard of them. Posters here may just have a really weird idea of what a good comedy is.

Did anyone really like Napolean Dynamite? It did nothing for me but others I talk with thinks that it is a classic. Comedies are that way.

I'm always up for a good comedy, of course I have a pretty warped sense of humor sometimes which expands my list of what I think is good.

Napolean Dynamite didn't do much for me either. I think I found a few part amusing after re-watching it. My daughter thought it was great, but I was pretty ho-hum on it.

It's funny talking with the guys at work about older comedies. The youngsters have no idea what us "old guys" are talking about because many of the movies came out before they were born. They really don't know much about John Candy, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Chevy Chase, Mel Brooks, etc etc films which we adored growing up. I always try to get them to take a peek at some of the classics instead of the drivel that IMO has come out recently.
