Not a downer, but I’m not drinking the kool aid like many of you.

I’m not talking about a kid coming and starting next yr as a true Frosh. I think Buchner will be the starter but I don’t know how he’ll do. He has a lot of work to do on his passing.

It becomes fireable if he doesn’t sign Moore or Vizzina. Edit: or you don’t have to fire him, just shift his responsibilities to being strictly a play caller (ala Joe Brady) and bring in a QB coach who can recruit. I don’t like seeing people get fired, I’m not vindictive, and staff turnover is rarely a positive.

ND isn’t the leader for Moore or Vizzina. Also with Arnold committing to OK, it only makes sense that Johnson being the 4th option is who they sign.

High 4*/5*. Key criteria being a QB with a strong enough arm to stretch the field, but also throw with accuracy. Being a good athlete/running QB is just a bonus. Pyne is too small to ever be truly elite. I appreciate him sticking around as we’ve all seen how valuable an experienced backup can be. Buchner needs to be more accurate and read Defenses better. He has the raw skill of an elite QB but that’s only half the equation.

He’s not bad when it comes to play calling and schemes. However, he needs an elite QB to take ND to the next level.

ND would be mistaken trying to follow UGA’s blueprint from this yr. That’s just not going to work the majority of the time. If ND wants to be Defense first and run heavy, they’ll just end up being Wisconsin. Signing Angeli is a failure and so is offering Johnson. His 2nd best offer is Wisconsin, what does that tell you? Rees is out of his depth.

I had read Allar stuck with Penn St bc they offered first.

Rees needs to land & develop an elite QB. I’m not arguing in bad faith, I’d rather he get Dante Moore than fail again and prove me right. However, I don’t have much faith based on his track record.

Somehow Johnson is an even worse passer than Angeli. Rees has no clue what he’s doing.

So what you’re telling me is Rees can’t recruit. Thanks for agreeing with me. I don’t get the hype, should’ve let Kelly take his butt to LSU. If all you’re bringing in are the Angeli and Avery Johnsons of the world, you’re not fit to be QB coach/OC at ND.

The reality is if Cincinnati wasn’t in the playoff, Fickell would’ve been a better hire. However, bc he wouldn’t have been available until after Signing Day, it made sense to go with Freeman.

All of you kept bitching about Kelly never getting over the hump, never bridging the gap with the elites. However, you don’t seem to care when they’re doing nothing to close that gap. You only seem to care that the coaches are “nice guys.” Well, f that. The two best coaches in football (Saban & Bellichick) are a holes. Who cares? You don’t win games on Twitter with feel good vibes and dumb asses like Golic Jr branding ND as “cool”, you know what’s cool? Winning.

Rees is a terrible recruiter. Again, look at the list: Clark, Jurkovec, Pyne, Buchner, Angeli. The only one with any proven success in college plays somewhere else. And he’s failing again in the class of ‘23. Freeman might be a good hire, given the circumstances, he probably was the right choice. However, the hype is stupid. The idea the players should have a say in who is hired is also stupid. They’re not the ones accountable if he fails. Don’t know which recruits you’re referring to specifically. Angeli is not a major P5 QB, he belongs at Rutgers or Illinois. Arnold is an elite QB and now ND is in a terrible situation of having to land Moore or Vizzina when they don’t lead for either. Avery Johnson is not a major P5 QB either. This all ties back to the first point of Rees not being a good recruiter. And Clarence Lewis is terrible. Did none of you watch the Fiesta Bowl? That was pitiful. There’s no reason for him to see the field next yr unless it’s bc of injury.

Stuckey vs Alexander, will he be able to sign more than one WR in a class?

It’s means a hell of a lot.

It’s pertinent bc they just lost a top QB target and it’s reflective of a pattern.

Lewis should never see the field at ND outside of injury.

And I’ve seen enough of Lewis. Neither are great, but Lewis can’t even play at the P5 level.

Felt all along Gobaira was underrated.
