We don’t know how good Buchner will be. He needs a massive amount of work on developing his passing ability. And yes, I would’ve taken Arnold. They’re behind on Moore & Vizzina, and their 4th option is the terrible Avery Johnson. You want to risk your QB being a kid who completed 55% of his passes vs Kansas HS teams? Hell no.

You need elite skill talent. The WRs are just ok. Styles might be an NFL talent but the rest won’t play beyond college. Mayer is an elite TE. Tyree can be a special player if they use him in more of a RB/WR role like a Percy Harvin/Deebo Samuel. Diggs might be good, don’t know yet, he looked bad in the Bowl game. Buchner is the biggest Wild Card. He was a terrible passer but showed his athleticism.

He’s not recruiting on Offense. He’s elite in Defensive recruiting but the skill talent isn’t good.

You’re god damn right, caving into the fans & players is a flaw. None of them know how to build a winning program, so who cares about their opinion?

That’s not the real Signing Day, that’s in December. And I wouldn’t be so negative if they were making any progress at all, but they’re not. Every time you read about a big recruit, it’s a Defensive guy. Meanwhile, they get stuck with awful skill talent.

My reason is in the last month, they haven’t done anything except fall behind for their top Offensive targets. Also, Rees keeps failing and given his track record, they’re going to get stuck with a crappy QB like Avery Johnson in the class of ‘23.

Top DC? Even adjusting for the shitty personnel left behind by Lea, his D was just ok. And he’s an elite Defensive recruiter, but who cares? They have no skill talent.

He wasn’t qualified for this job based on his resume, so he better start recruiting on Offense better. Otherwise, he’s going to fail horribly. That whole video of the players mobbing him in the weight room is emotional propaganda. He did just an ok job this yr as DC. And once again, the players won’t be held responsible for his failures, so who gives a f if they wanted him as coach?

His commitment was shaky. And if he wasn’t seriously considering other schools, why do that cringey video announcement?

Defensive recruiting is elite but Offense sucks. And he also didn’t bother to get rid of Lewis, Bauer, and Bertrand. He really thinks he can walk into Cbus with those scrubs starting on his D? They’re going to get slaughtered.

If Freeman is the Ace recruiter, it shouldn’t matter. That was literally the only reason he deserved the job. Otherwise, he hasn’t done jack except look totally lost during the Bowl meltdown

Not officially but he took multiple visits late in the cycle and everything indicated his commitment wasn’t strong.

Take Davis out of the equation and Jurkovec as well since he committed in May ‘16. He’s done nothing but fail as a recruiter.

Bc they need a real QB. Angeli sucks, Avery Johnson sucks. Do you want them to be a legit contender or not? It doesn’t happen by continually bringing in scrub QBs.

I never saw him piss away a 21 point lead. That OK St team wasn’t in the same stratosphere as Bama or Clemson teams that beat ND. But go ahead keep thinking you win games on Twitter. When’s the last recruit ND landed? It was Peyton Bowen a month ago. They haven’t gotten a skill player worth a god damn in any of the last 2 classes, except maybe Merriweather. They’re behind on every other decent skill player but keep chugging the #freemanera kool aid. See how good he does recruiting after they win 7 games this yr.

I don’t think he can do it. Flat out, zero faith in him. He’s failed the majority of the time. Davis, Jurkovec, Clark, Pyne, Buchner, and Angeli? Oh but that’s Kelly’s fault, nevermind he signed a 5* QB in this class.
