No, if you care about ND being liked, you’re not a good fan. Nobody outside of their fans “likes” Bama, Ohio St, UGA, but who gives a damn? I’ll take high levels of success and being hated bc of that over being the lovable underdog.

Again, who cares what casual fans think? I don’t want ND to be the likable underdog all of those idiots root for bc it means they’re not taken seriously.

I did not, so I retract my criticism in that regard. However, I’m still worried about Rees not being able to close the deal. They CANNOT settle for another mediocre QB.

I never said he wasn’t good at that, but none of that matters with Ian Book or Jack Coan at QB. Those guys were good college QBs but had low ceilings on what they could do passing the ball.

They didn’t care enough to offer. I’m hostile towards you bc you’re letting personal bias cloud your judgment. In case you weren’t aware, Hudl exists and 247 had a good write up on him. I don’t need to see him play in person to know that his film & offer sheet tell me he’s not good enough to make ND a better program.

Johnson is a ‘23 recruit and I think that’s a major problem. He’s not good enough.

That’s all fine for you, but I don’t get caught up in the theatrics. I don’t care if ND’s HC is a nice guy or not. The two best football coaches in the world are gruff & unlikable, but so what? As long as the coach isn’t a true scumbag loser (Petrino, Kiffin, Freeze), I don’t care about anything he does that’s not football related.

Completing 55% of his passes should be reason enough to avoid him, even worse when it’s vs 5’7’’ 150 lbs Corners who run a 4.8 40.

You’re wrong. There’s a reason a lot of kids are flocking to IMG from these small schools. They want to play better competition and get more exposure.

That won’t be a problem. That’s why I’m high on him. He has the frame to add on more weight/muscle, with his skills & technique being sound.

He’s not that good. Completing 55% of your passes is horrendous. Even Angeli was better than that. Also, are you willing to bet ND’s future on a 1 in a million shot this unheralded QB turns into an all time great? I’m not. Get a god dam elite QB. It would help if Rees actually made the visits to see Moore instead of Freeman & Mickens.

They weren’t “good” (I use that as a relative term). They’re all lower tier P5, excluding Wisconsin which is just awful at recruiting QBs. Even though he’s better than Angeli, neither are good enough to play at ND.

Buchner has more raw talent. Go root for Purdue, you clearly have some kind of attachment to this kid. However, just like Avery Johnson, he’s not good enough to get ND where they need to be.

I never said at this point in time he was better, only that he had a higher ceiling and that’s true. Buchner was not elite 11 QB and while he may not have the pure arm strength, he still has a good arm, mixed with far better mobility. This is real life, not the movie Rudy. Take your fairytale bs elsewhere. Allen’s other offers were from Rutgers, Wisc, IU, Cincy, Kansas, Va Tech, WV. That’s not at ND’s level, sorry if that offends you, but ND is out to win games not fulfill your dumb fantasies.

Did you see the teams he was playing against? It means something. Not a single one of those players will play any type of college football.

WTF are you talking about? He’s mediocre at best and he’s not playing the most important position on the field. Again, don’t tell me how you expect ND to close the gap then laud the performance of someone who wouldn’t see the field at the elite programs.

Buchner is more talented but he should have to win the job outright. I don’t care how many great plays he makes, if he turns the ball over like he did vs Va Tech, he can’t start. Anyone who watched the NFL playoffs last week should see how costly turnovers are; imagine your D getting 9 sacks but still losing bc your QB threw 3 Ints.
