  1. I'm not saying kids are right or even wrong for not wanting to play. I'm just speaking to the facts which are irrefutable. And starting with bowl games is an outside the box solution to the problem where NY6 games can't put an intriguing matchup as they would have been able to in the early 90s as not as many players opted out back then. Opting out will have a trickle down financial trickle down effect as they won't be willing to dole out any of their own money unless they're a playoff game. My comment has nothing to do with the philosophy of players opting out. I'll never judge someone for making a financial decision that I'll never have the opportunity to make. If you do, you're a fool.
  2. Hmm interesting. I'm not sure how that looks with ND, but NBC is said to broadcast prime-time big10 games in this new deal. It means either ND is joining the big-10 or staying independent 😄
  3. I think this speaks to the inevitable expansion of the playoff. When you have teams not excited to play in the Rose Bowl because it's not a CFP game, there is a culture problem and this solution I believe addresses that issue.
  4. The lawyer is making this kid out to be a saint.. He left millions, uhm you mean 2 more than 9. If Miami offered 500k and UF offered 10M he'd be a gator, don't make him out to be something he's not.
  5. Many of these NIL contracts are not very athlete friendly that allow the company to back out, delay/reduce compensation etc.
  6. Harrison Smith had a great NFL career compared to his ND production/accolades. I believe Farley got moved to a nickel so he was a part time "starter" for one year which is what you're thinking of but he was a regular.
  7. Win the game or at least make it a competitive match. 11-1 and taking the Buckeyes into the 4th quarter who will inevitably be a playoff team this year won't be a bad year 1 campaign. ND has a QB competition while thin at running back, and OSU is returning it's QB1 and a lethal WR and they're primed for the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised to see the line beyond 17 points before kickoff. I don't see how getting into a Rose-bowl type shootout that they had with Utah benefits ND. Perhaps a little tressel ball could help ND in this one. Is Al Golden an aggressive D Coordinator?
  8. I think Tommy gonna pound the rock a lot more than most people think.
  9. Politician at heart. Completely full of shit. Gave us that line about he's not going anywhere with one foot out the door. I forget where but there was a source close to his agent that said he had one foot out the door earlier in the season. Perhaps a Freudian slip, but I also think some of that is his bullshit nature and lack of responsibility to do what he did right after he said what he said. Good coach, and I wanted to see if he'd succeed at a place like Texas or Florida, but to do what he did the way he did makes it hard to root for him at LSU especially since I despise that swamp butt pre-school.
  10. These are up there as my favorite. I liked the all white in Jerry's world also. My favorite is the Indianapolis uni against Purdue. UA did a great job capturing the design and spirit of ND and the monogram was fire on the gold print helmet with the dome stitching. I actually wouldn't hate it if ND made that their full time uni.
  11. To me that sounds like a big gamble.. You even said it "may get split up" So you would rather roll the dice that other conferences are split up in a way that gives ND an opportunity to play a handful of decent matchups versus the sure thing of joining the Big10 and getting a handsome payday with the guarantee of high profile matchups. Also, Do you think the ACC is going to just continue playing patacake with ND after the Big10 door closes? The answer is no and they're going to full court press ND into joining the league and could threaten removing the 5 game agreement as a bargaining chip which could leave ND even more holes in their schedule. There are way too many unknowns and contingencies that need to fall in place for me to be comfortable with the idea of staying independent. I guess I don't see much upside with your and other's proposal to remain independent on the hope and wish that they can get TV worthy matchups. That's all risk little reward if it works out where as they could join the big10 which is no risk and very high reward as the competition in the big10 is going to be top notch and the conference recruiting is going to get a boost
  12. Yes we get that, Jack has said that numerous times, but it's going to come down to availability of captivating matchups and that's dwindling as time goes by The cannibalism of CFB isn't even close to done, so if you think ND playing BYU Wake Forest UNC Stanford Oregon State Kansas State Colorado is going to carry the brand, I think you're mistaken. You can kiss that we'll take a 20M pay cut to retain our independence sentiment goodbye Jack. You might as well join the Ivy League like you threatened back in 2015/2016.
  13. So ND would keep USC as a rivalry game, but I feel like their schedule would lack regular high profile matchups that would warrant a $75 million contract from NBC should they stay independent. Big12 Pac12 remnants and a sporadic match up with an SEC or Big10 team.. 5 games with the ACC league but I see that deal falling apart should ND really lean on it's independence going forward. I feel like nows the time to join the big10
  14. lmaooooooooooooo I see what you did there. Gunslinger, you don't know how to use the three seashells?!?
  15. I'm saying ND gets less from their NBC deal than they would if they joined the Big10 or even the ACC via their respective network deals. They actively take a pay cut from the network to maintain their independence. https://notredame.rivals.com/news/why-the-agreement-to-split-acc-and-nbc-tv-revenue-could-help-notre-dame https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2022-07-03/how-much-money-waits-for-ucla-usc-in-the-big-ten Here are some numbers. I hope you weren't trying to put words into my mouth. Probably my only pet-peeve 😄
  16. Probably a 6-7 million/year bump in football revenue over what ND currently gets. Right now Big10 teams get about 3-4 million more and I can only assume the new TV deal would net an even larger increase. Perhaps more than 6-7 million more..
  17. To solidify the Pittsburgh sports market as the Big10 won't be able to pry Pitt away although that would be nice. WVU has a solid fan-base for a meddling program and would bring ticket sales to the table. For that reason I don't think Stanford would be a good candidate as I don't think their fans would travel to the mid-west. Hell they barely travel to Palo Alto. If I were the Big10 I'd force the Cardinal to install field turf as a caveat to joining.
  18. ND needs to bring WVU with them to the Big10 Stanford Oregon Washington probably the likely trio to follow them. If the Big10 could somehow land an east coast household name but I've been reading that the ACC has a strong contract which locks down any of their programs from being poached.
  19. Clearly needing reform but what legislation and how will it be enforced to ensure no unfair beneficiaries etc. The NCAA is a f**king joke and they’re the reason we have this mess. I’m not one who enjoys watching anything burn but I am enjoying the playing field being re-tilted and will get a huge kick out of non traditional powers entrenched in lucrative NIL markets A&M, Houston, Cincinnati dethroning the old boys club of the SEC who’m Mark Emmert was supporting with his authoritarian regime in the NCAA.
  20. And when he doesn't get inside pressure knifing the A gap. Poor pass pro with slow developing route concepts is always a recipe for disaster.
  21. Interesting. I'd like to see a better controlled poll, but I feel like this could be simply a popularity contest..
  22. Correct. In order to get an overturned 4 team system, you need to have unanimous votes as to the new structure.. After the playoff deal runs it's course, it will be a majority vote: You're either with us or not with us type of deal.. I don't see it changing before 2025
  23. This game proves there doesn't even need to be a CFB playoff let alone expansion. The championship game had the two best teams who were clearly better than everyone else.
