  1. I hear ya and I've alluded to the fact there might not be as many wide open down field looks due to a more conservative 2 deep shell as Pyne isn't quite the running threat, but honestly I think he is pretty quick for a pudgy little dude. I think Rees evaluated the offense preseason and said, we suck b@lls as a unit, and we probably should go with the scrambler to try and neutralize some of the defenses we're gonna play which likely will be huge mistake.. Maybe he didn't underestimate and Buchner was his panic pick. Either way if Pyne pans out, it will prove to be a poor evaluation. That's some f*cking alliteration right there.. a regular EAP
  2. I understand everything you're saying. It's not hard if you're above average IQ and have a work ethic. You don't need to be a genius to get a bachelor degree, anywhere. Notre Dame doesn't even have the top schools in the state of Indiana. You should watch last chance U for perspective on what these kids want. These kids don't even want to go to class. Until that becomes a reality where they can take freshman level classes for 3 years at ND and not have to go to class / turn in homework, ND will not be able to recruit every football star. I've said the same thing about your both ways comment. You can't demand competence in the classroom and excellence on the football field. It's not sustainable and the best ND can hope for with their current model for student athletes is a top 25 program with flashes in the CFB every few years with the right roster. I can go on and on but it's kicking dead horses and going to do nothing for me at this point.
  3. Right there with ya. Dunno if you saw my tirade about Father Jenkins and the brass. They're completely delusional if they truly want to have a championship team. The jury's out as to whether the brass is delusional or if they're happy with being a top 25 football team so long as they can laud graduation rates and minimal off field distractions, but they haven't really been able to do that lately.
  4. Notre Dame is not fully committed to being a Championship Caliber football team. Perhaps they're delusional; Perhaps they're self sabotaging, or a mixture of both. Expounding on @Chirodomer comment, you're going to need to be all-in Being aggressive in searching the portal Aggressive with Collectives and NIL arrangements Reduce or Eliminate deterrents on campus and in the classroom for top flite NFL caliber talent (they do not want to play school) They want to play football, study football, and play video games. Hire and Retain world class football coaches Invest in top notch facilities / training staff / analysts If all of these elements are not met, you will not have a team that competes for National Championships. ND is already at a regional disadvantage where all of the DL and OL talent is so they're fighting with a hand tied behind their backs if they do not go all in. The fewer of those you excel at the further you'll be from a championship caliber team. Brian Kelly probably got this team as far as anyone could have and that will probably be the subconscious mission of Swarbrick and Jenkins to return them to relevance.
  5. I'll feed the troll until you get banned: Because there is a perception that this program has turned to absolute dogshit overnight and internet message boards are melting down over that perception. Covering the spread against a better team than the one you just lost to would be an objective improvement week to week, which is how players and coaches are analyzed for their job security (See Scott Frost).
  6. whoooh buddy not much TBH. More of a hunch and a realization that Marshall game was 2-3 plays away from being a W where they were never actually trailing. What I saw in the Marshall game was hot garbage on the O Line but Pyne won’t miss all of the throws that Buchner missed. Fair counter argument that Pyne won’t see that many one on one shots due to more 2 deep shells. If Buchner connects on one of the deep balls / chunk plays and doesn’t throw a pick 6, ND wins narrowly harkening a big sigh like last year against Toledo. Lets be honest 1-1 with a narrow win and a narrow loss on the road many on here and other forums (not me) would be asking how ND could carve a path to the playoff like last year. Also last years FSU game was a mixed bag shit show similar to OSU. After the OSU game I was worried they only had a 6 win team, but there’s outside hope they can button a few things up.
  7. I think he’ll be featured in a more traditional offense where the QB isn’t the primary ball carrier.
  8. I’ve said it in a separate thread that his physique has me doubting his commitment needed. He has a pretty ball but so did Jay Cutler..
  9. Dude hopefully I formation and offset back with some counter/power/trap and some 5/7 step drop 2 route run action plays. 😄
  10. I was surprised that Pyne looked chubby in the spring game. I mean I hope he doesn’t have a metabolic issue going on but if he doesn’t it strikes me a shear laziness and dgaf that he would be competing to be the starting QB at ND. maybe a Dunkin’ Donuts NIL deal is in line for him.
  11. My prediction is Notre Dame will cover on 9/17/22 and a lot of this talk about fire Freeman will subside. It will likely be a bumpy ride and I doubt MF get's extended, but things are not as bad as they feel. The spread is now 10. The Cal defense will play Pyne much differently so don't expect to see as many wide open guys running down the field, but the intermediate passing game will be much improved. I look for the OL to work on a couple blocking plays that everyone can execute. Simplify the calls and just get after it so they can give Pyne some looks where the defense is honest and not in drop 8 or bracketing multiple WRs. If they can run for 100 yards and limit the interception to 1 or less, I think ND will cover.
  12. I guess we’re watching different games because I see a lot of QB run derived offense. You can’t do that all the way down the field every drive. That has to open holes in the secondary and you have to hit your shots and that’s where it’s not Tommy’s fault he’s stuck with a QB who couldn’t hit water if he fell off a jet ski half the time.
  13. Yes I think Tommy is a good OC. What QB was developed before Tommy got here? Many people criticize his play calling but I saw creativity finding something his team could run. My take is that TB was someone who he got stuck with for various reasons and now is his chance to show his skill. If this team makes it to a bowl game this year it will be a great accomplishment and now hah TB is out of the way, I believe it’s achievable. If it’s a shit show with no signs of improvement I’ll eat crow.
  14. Is he considering coaching changes yet? including HC? I joke I joke I kid I kid. but no, seriously?
  15. Take your antagonistic bullshit to Rivals. They have a free board you can slap dick with a bunch of other d bags. Plenty of us including myself have been anti TB since last year here. you’re simply looking for a fight and not gonna get it here.
  16. If Tommy can’t get Angeli ready to beat TB out next season, it will be his first indictment as to whether TR is as good as many think he is. I’m team TR all the way but my speculation remains to be proven and the next year or so will be the revelation as to his skill as a true OC.
  17. Maybe he can put on 15 pounds and learn to play linebacker or tight end. Heck of an athlete and competitor. Just not a good QB.
  18. They already had a top 20 QB in Angeli signed. You can’t just go out late in a recruiting cycle and add quality signal callers.. They tried reaching out in the portal, and failed miserably. He’s stuck with what he has. You can’t polish a turd and that’s what the QB room is right now. I just hope he’s developing Angeli and this kid is absorbing everything he can this year because he needs to be the man next season.
  19. The reached out to Kedon Slovis and he politefully declined. I'm sure they reached out to others that weren't reported. If TB was his man, he would have named him after spring ball or early on into fall camp. Tommy tried playing takeaway against the buckeyes to protect his QB. I'll die on this hill that Tommy is not the problem and he's actually masking a lot of this teams faults. He might not be great at developing players(only time will tell) but he's digging deep into the playbook and getting super creative to find something TB can run. It could be TR is a shit OC but he can call plays with the best of them.
  20. When Tommy gets the hook, you'll see that it wasn't all his fault. He should have never lobbied for HH. He should bench TB. It's clear this kid isn't the answer. He shows signs of promise but misses routine throws and mis fires on chunk plays this team desperately needs since they do not have a running game. Tommy is hamstrung with an overhyped mobile QB that was Brian Kelly's choice to run his program. I'll give Tommy another season before I give him the ax, but I don't know if MF will. I really want to see what this offense looks like without running TBs offense. At this point, I think they should play the rookie so they can at least develop for the future. This season is already over.. Every team left on the schedule sans Navy and UNLV are going to beat the brakes off this team.
  21. Notre Dame will double down on it's arrogance. Your question is moot. But I agree.
  22. He needs to go to Jack and say, what do we need to field a top ranked football team year in and year out? Jack gives him the list, he uses the bank roll to make it happen. I'm not expecting Jenkins to be the AD or become hands on.. Just to make championship football a priority.
  23. So you’re saying other than QB, WR, OLine and DLine they’ve got a pretty ok football team? Lol 12/22 positions need improving.. hopefully they can get right on that. 😄
