Good touch on the throw, blocked well, and Price turned on the burners through the space. -

Defense has definitely looked better. Pyne had some accuracy issues (even on open throws). I wouldn't draw any long-term conclusions from it either way. -

Pyne struggling (as expected) when he gets surrounded in the pocket. He currently looks a little rattled. -

I've gotta change my answer in the poll. I said I wouldn't be watching, but I'm home, my wife is under the weather, and I threw it on the TV. -
2023 Notre Dame Recruiting Prospects
Tailgate Approved replied to Big23Head's topic in Recruiting Discussion
I was just finishing up reading that article before coming here to post it. It was a good write-up. It sounds like it should be an exhausting weekend for the coaches. -

‘23 NV CB Justyn Rhett decommits
Tailgate Approved replied to Big23Head's topic in Recruiting Discussion
I cannot remember where I read it, but it was suggested that the coaching staff told recruits that a commitment to ND means not taking Official Visits anywhere else. I believe this stance was taken due to the late-stage decommits from the WRs last year. I wish I had evidence to back up my memory here. I'm also not sure why they would allow Unofficial Visits, but that was how it was explained. -

"Some teams will cheat" is not an effective argument against NIL, because *gestures at the entire history of college football*

Kyle Hamilton and, oh what could have been
Tailgate Approved replied to soulpatch's topic in Notre Dame Football
I suspect the only teams that are going to value him appropriately (as the unicorn he is) are the ones playing a 2 high safety look. I think he steps into that fit as one of the top safeties in the league. He's a force multiplier. -
I don't think NIL is going anywhere, and that's fine. I feel for you guys that are troubled by the potential abuse of NIL (not pointing to OP, just speaking generally). It sucks that your enjoyment of the sport might be affected by this stuff. I hope things turn out better than we all imagine after the market adjusts to the new paradigm.

I think this is a great point. Execution was often an issue last year. The problem I had with Kelly mentioning it as a post-game issue was that he put blame on the players when the accountability should have been on the coaches. If Stuckey can provide the improvement we hope (more honestly, expect) to see in the WRs, it should open up a lot of options in TR's playbook.

I think Chris Tyree is going to have a crazy good year. I'm thinking 1,500+ yards from scrimmage. The off-season is so full of optimism... I would also be interested in seeing Rees build the focus for the offense around Mayer. If he's not doubled, he's open. So, what can TR do to scheme him into an advantageous position more often? This would be extremely helpful to their young QB(s).

Kyle is a unicorn. His tape is incredible (shows great range, ability to read plays, tackling, coverage), he nailed the position drills, and he moves fluidly for his size. Any team that wants to knock him for a 40 time doesn't deserve him. I still think he goes in the top 5.

ND analogy- Civil Debate welcome
Tailgate Approved replied to FaithInIrish Forever's topic in Notre Dame Football
Man, Bob Davie really did a number on some of you guys. That was more than 20 years ago! From what I can remember (and have quickly reviewed on Google/Wikipedia), the similarities seem to end at "highly regarded, newly recruited DC gets promoted to HC." Beyond that, the situations seem completely different to me. Admittedly, I wasn't playing close attention back in '97. -
ND analogy- Civil Debate welcome
Tailgate Approved replied to FaithInIrish Forever's topic in Notre Dame Football
I voted for the top of the mountain. Caveats: I define that as winning a single National Championship. I choose to be optimistic. I know this team isn't there yet. I know there's been no real indication that we're headed there. I don't care. For me, being a fan is more fun with hope and positivity. -
Transfer Portal: Outgoing ND Players

He was an early enrollee that stayed for 4 years. I don't think patience is the issue. -
This is speculation on my part, but this may be related to the licensing deal with Fanatics. You can find football jerseys at UND.com. https://shop.und.com/notre-dame-fighting-irish/jerseys/t-23548788+d-20667823+z-968-3863489539

Brian Kelly/LSU finish #6 overall in recruiting…
Tailgate Approved replied to Rob62's topic in Notre Dame Football
Welcome, @Rob62. I'm in the group of people that think Kelly will be fine at LSU, but I'm also glad I don't have to defend him anymore. I think you're right that Kelly did a good job putting together a decent class. However, it looks like it is benefiting from volume in the overall rankings you cited. As noted by others, the average rating of player is not as strong. So, does that mean LSU or ND has a better class? Ultimately, it depends on context and preference. I'd rather have ND's, but maybe LSU needs a lot of bodies. In any case, I think both programs are going to have decent years, so you should have plenty of entertainment. -
Per a Vikings reporter, Harbaugh thought the job was his and the Vikings thought he was a candidate. The misalignment led to a mutual agreement to go in other directions.

NIL and Portal ruining College football
Tailgate Approved replied to SYD4ND's topic in Around the NCAA
The GLD Center is an entire department geared around helping athletes maximize the effect of their NIL deals. The marketing centers on those athletes being leaders in using these deals for good (e.g., charity, social issues), but I would guess a big part of the work of the GLD Center is helping athletes vet offers, negotiate, etc. -
@ELDER06 Is there anything Rees could do to change your lack of faith? Does he need to sign Moore? Does he need to have Buchner go off next year? Do ND need to win a natty? I'm not a big fan of Rees, but I'm confused by your complete lack of faith. I don't think he's been good enough to get ND to the next level, but I don't see any reason not to believe he could become good enough. He has seemed to improve.
