1. Well, of course there are exceptions. It's just a rule of thumb. Try Baby Duck wine if you don't believe me. I think it has pickles floating it in. And I would most certainly try Megalodon wine, if only to say that I tried it.
2. That reminds me of a rule of thumb that I heard for wine: The quality of the wine is inversely proportionate to the viciousness of the animal on the label. I'm going with Eagle Rare bourbon to celebrate some great professional news (and to close the book on a crappy ND week).
3. Turning Point has said something to the effect that there's a legit reason for this. Maybe an actual sick granny, who knows.
4. I do get the feeling that Kelly is out of options re: GA3. He's not a WR (no hands), the backfield is loaded, Bryant is coming into the rotation, Dad's being a pain in the rear. I'm picking up the makings of a run-out here.
5. Humpin' Hey-zeus, that's only marginally more scary than the pic of him I saw on the 30 for 30 about the Raiders. Dude was a candidate for Walking Dead extra for 10 years before he died. HD was the worst thing to ever happen to him.
6. Apparently, Texas only passed on him because they wanted him game-ready from day one. They didn't want a "project".
7. He's Irish:

Corona (Calif.) Santiago 2015 QB Blake Barnett has just committed to #NotreDame, huge early pickup for the Irish
— Greg Biggins (@GregBiggins) November 24, 2013

8. I think we have to accept that this will be a poor year for RB recruiting. All five RBs are back next year. Next year, Cam and GA3 are seniors, AC is a RS JR, Folston a soph, and Bryant an RS frosh (assuming he gets the retro RS). If I'm Hood, I'd have a hard time convincing myself that's a good situation to be getting into.
9. Good call. Any football live chat is going to be filled with the uninformed and intoxicated. There are some connected guys on ISD and some **** disturbers. If he's gone, he's gone, but lets wait for something real.
10. Link for those interested: http://www.jconline.com/article/20130915/SPORTS020101/309150014/Purdue-football-Offense-makes-strides-despite-loss?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|Indianapolis%20Sports|s&nclick_check=1 Money quote: “Our coaching staff is doing great. They take us through everything. I can promise you we played that game twice in practice before we got out there. We knew exactly what they were going to run. Our coaches are doing a great job preparing us for teams.” The difference was talent. If Purdue had recruited at the ND level for the past four years, they probably would have won.
11. Which seems so counter-intuitive. The world is shrinking, not growing. Even my technophobe relatives know how to use Skype. Just seems odd to me.
12. Calling shannanigans on that (the parents, not you). His twitter feed was full of positive ND tweets between that visit and his shutting down his acct. Really sounds like that parents put the boots to the kid.
13. Anyone care to do a roll call? I can only pick out a few.
14. I've casually looked at boards of teams that will face Michigan, and the general consensus is "Control Gallon and [we] win". Good point about Diaco and pro style attacks. While there may be individual players on UM that do well, I think ND has the advantage on both lines vs their opposing lines.
15. Agree with the above responses. Also, no coach wants to "coronate" a player. You don't want the guy to think that the spot's his by default. Part of the "culture of entitlement" that Kelly talked about comes from that. If Grace wants the spot, all he has to do is earn it.
16. Don't think the coach leaving would get an exemption (especially since IIRC Chip left before signing day). Now, if they were to get hit with sanctions...
17. You're right. Looks like they just squeaked him through the door. Reading quotes from the guy, he does think highly of himself (nothing wrong with that if justified). Being cocky doesn't exactly set you apart from the culture at Miami .
18. Both of those guys could fit the description of not liking the culture of their new teams (Miami and Clemson), at least from the POV of being far different from ND. BTW, I was under the assumption that AQM would have fit ND the way Shembo does now: 3-4 OLB and 4-3 DE. Of course, that's before the acamademic issues come into play. Unless he tore up the books at UM, I don't think ND could take him, could they?
19. Just for laughs, here's the list of prospects/offers for DL last year. DT: http://notredame.scout.com/a.z?s=109&p=9&c=4&pid=22&yr=2013 DE: http://notredame.scout.com/a.z?s=109&p=9&c=4&pid=23&yr=2013 One would guess that ND was in the finalists for the mystery player. I don't see much on the DT list to fit that criteria, aside from you know who. As for DE, I see AQM, Fitts, Taco, Sickels. Was ND ever really in it for Bosa?
20. I've heard people (all claiming to be "insiders") on various message boards claiming everything from bruised shoulder to broken collarbone. Not in practice today:

#USC star WR Marqise Lee who left practice FRI w an apparent shoulder INJ, will NOT practice today, a source just told me.
— Bruce Feldman (@BFeldmanCBS) August 10, 2013
But, let's be fair. If there's one guy on that team that could recite the famous Allan Iverson "Practice" speech, it's Lee. No point in exposing your team's MVP to further damage before a single game is played. Apparently, though, they only have five scholarship WR's. Ouch. One injury, and they're digging into the practice squad for players.
21. Maybe Tommy can outrun a cop now I kid, I kid. Seriously, good to hear. Thanks for posting those.
22. I get a feeling that there's gonna be a lot of sick grannies in the near future....
23. http://247sports.com/Player/Jashon-Cornell-20904 The 247 guys are pretty much all calling it for ND. Would be a great get. Anyone know if ND's looking to keep him at OLB, or grow him into a DE?
24. I love how all of the predictions has Holmes to ND, except for one dingus at the Oklahoma site who has CH going to....Oklahoma. To be clear, I will be very happy if/when Holmes commits. But I've often joked (on this board and others) that ESPN over-values Florida skill position players. They're really playing to type here.
25. We have been spoiled the last few years, haven't we?
