  1. Yeah I'm going with 45-13 for ND all the way. For sure I am interested in how the O looks this season. Obviously, we haven't seen anything yet, but I have so much more confidence the passing game will be light years better this time around. And I think the D will be better this year also, though they were pretty good for the most part last season. Unfortunately for me, the game starts at 1:30 am on Sunday here, so I'll be watching the replay as soon as it's posted.
  2. 75. While we are anxiously awaiting the Irish and Navy: The first college football game was played on November 6, 1869, between Rutgers and Princeton (then known as the College of New Jersey) in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Rutgers won.
  3. Really! I didn’t realize it was that high of a number in recent years. Thanks.
  4. 70. Yeah, that stuff is good. I remember my grandma always had some and if we were good, she’d let us have 1 at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  5. That’s a pretty high number of EE’s, isn’t it? Do you think this is a one-off or is it kind of trending that way, more EE’s each year? I seem to recall maybe 3-4 in previous years. Or I just haven’t been paying attention.
  6. 31. The speed limit in the town of Trenton, Tennessee is 31 MPH.
  7. This is for sure dating me, but the 1st Irish game I saw in South Bend was against South Carolina in probably 1979 / 1980 They had a running back by the name of George Rogers who went on to win the Heisman and had a pretty stellar NFL career with the Redskins (can I say that???). He was a beast, pretty much unstoppable that game, still not sure how ND pulled out a victory that day. This wasn't a game I saw in person, but I fondly remember watching the ND - West Virginia Fiesta Bowl for their last Natty. It was something like 3-4 am in Manila at a place called the Hula Hut. Great time, great game, and some scantily clad waitresses!
  8. Short story is I've been working in SE Asia for the past 25 years or so, building golf courses in the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia and yes, Thailand. I retired this year in January and we just completed our retirement home in Hua Hin, Thailand.
  9. Watching games here in Thailand is a challenge due to the time difference, about 12 hours. Pretty much eliminates watching any day games. Waking up early to catch a big game is really only worth it if your team wins! Night games are 'breakfast' games for us. Super bowls are usually a breakfast buffet and Bloody Marys (at least to start with). I watch many ND games after the game is finished via a replay, often, thanks to Faith for supplying the link. The great thing about the replay is all the commercials are cut out, it is solid football. Not many ND fans to be found, though on occasion you run into someone sporting some ND gear. The college football watching community in general is pretty sparse. More Europeans and Aussies around these parts, the pubs get packed when there is rugby or the English Premier League on. Rugby is good to watch because it is non-stop action. And rugby fans are really in to it...
  10. It sure seems a tad hypocritical for these schools to be complaining about NIL etc and then chasing the money by switching conferences. How does USC, UCLA, Oregon & UW in the Big 10 make any kind of sense other than for the $$$. It certainly isn't in the best interest of the student athletes. The whole thing now is a money grab. I enjoy watching the games, but other than that, have no interest any more in what else is happening. Even bowl season is a joke now.
  11. I’m with NYgoldendomer and Baldy on this. Looking forward to the season and see how the Irish fare. Optimistic it will be good, very good!
  12. Wow, that would be great. QB recruiting sure seems more than just a few steps up from the recent past!
  13. They're just having some fun with this. Don't see anything wrong with that!
  14. This was a very pleasant surprise, things sure seemed like they were trending away from ND. What great news to wake up to.
  15. I don't believe this is necessarily a given. A fair number of schools have had a crap year(s) and then come in with some stellar recruiting. A few examples: Florida this year. Texas A&M under Jimbo hasn't exactly been lighting it up on the field and they seem to recruit pretty well. Miami U hasn't been very good lately and their recruiting is pretty good. Sure winning helps recruiting, but it is not the sole reason it is good or bad. Reminds me of the argument why its difficult to recruit a 5 star QB yearly, the QB's don't want to face the competition for playing time. It seems Georgia, Alabama, USC, Okie don't have this problem. ND has had a problem getting any highly rated QBs for quite some time now. Hope Carr leads the way to this changing!
  16. Can’t say I’m disappointed cause I wasn’t expecting him to be ND. Would have been surprised if he did commit to the Irish.
  17. Jesse, what in particular makes you think “the staff is pruning the roster”? I don’t follow the outgoing players closely at all, so maybe I’m just missing it. Not saying it isn’t happening, what makes you think it is?
  18. Yeah, he sure does, especially Clarence Lewis. Alt makes them look like high schoolers!
  19. I’m going with 10-2 at a minimum but think 11-1 is very possible. I think they will lose 1 of the OSU, USC, Clemson games. Hope that sea of scarlet doesn’t materialize for the OSU game!
  20. Kudos to Jack Swarbrick for a job well done. He deserves to enjoy his well earned retirement. The new AD Pete Bevacqua brings an impressive background and sounds like a good fit for ND. He is an alumni and a former walk-on. Can’t get much more ND than that.
  21. I’ll go with Joe Theismann as my favorite QB
  22. For some unfathomable reason, I once bought a pair of UA running shoes. Worst shoes running shoes ever. The Converse All Stars I sported in high school were better, much much much better.
