  1. Yes, I’m hoping ND can hold on to guys like Mickens, Stuckey et al for at least another year or 2. If Al Golden moves on, and I really hope he doesn’t, Mickens should get serious consideration for DC. The off-season will be interesting to see what current ND coaches get some consideration from other schools.
  2. 192 Gotta luv a guy like this! David Kirke, pioneer of bungee jumping and Dangerous Sports Club, dies quietly in his bed aged 78 yesterday. The maverick godfather of bungee jumping, who took the world’s first leap clutching a bottle of champagne and without testing the rope, has died peacefully in his bed. Born in 1945 as the eldest of seven children, David Kirke birthed the worldwide phenomenon some 34 years later on April Fool’s Day, when – dressed in a top hat and fresh from all-night party – he and his friends decided to bungee jump from Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge.
  3. I'm in the wait and see group on this. Right now, only if there is a 'slam dunk' type QB willing to come to ND would I be for it. A fair to middling prospect, not so much. I think Carr is going to be the man when he gets on campus.
  4. I'm still good with the Freeman hire. He's approaching the end of his 2nd season, so that 'inexperience' is fading fast. Golden's D is so good now. Yes, there has been a period of adjustment, not only for Al Golden but also for the players going from Clark Lea to MF to Al Golden is a span of 3 seasons. That has to come into play. Parker, hopefully, turns the corner these last 4 games of the season and gets back into that groove he had at the beginning of the year. I'm not ready to write him off just yet. I also don't think MF would hesitate to make a change if he thought it was best for the team.
  5. I hear ya Faith! Overall the stats are an improvement on last season. A few things stood out for me: ND penalties and first downs by opponents by penalty. Not so good this year. Red zone D is so much better this season! 64% this season compared to 94% last! The pass D has more interceptions 9, than TD passes allowed 5. That is awesome!
  6. Yes, PSU/OSU is the big one this weekend. PSU looks loaded, I think this is the year for them to finally knock off OSU. If not now, then when? Tennessee just is not the same team as last season. They're good but seem to have taken a half step back this year. Alabama covers the spread on this one. Michigan/MSU is usually a good one, but with all of MSU's problems this year, I don't think it will be close. Duke/FSU should be good and down to the wire. But I'm going with FSU to pull it out, hope I'm wrong though. Utah/USC How will USC respond? Isn't Utah still without their starting QB? This could go either way, I'm guessing USC wins. And finally in the FCS, #1 South Dakota St plays #12 Southern Illinois, I'd be surprised if SIU wins this one, but would be sweet.

  8. Not sure if you understand that the final score was ND 48 USC 20???? Try to enjoy the victories.
  9. Great win, period !!!!!! Great game plan by Al Golden Defensive Line came to play. For that matter, the entire D came to play. And Watts, of course! ND kicks USC's butt all over the field, and there are still some ND fans complaining about the O. The final score was 48-20, enjoy it.
  10. I'm looking forward to a really good game, should be an exciting one. I think ND gets back on track starting here and now!
  11. KSU should steamroll Okie St. Mike Grundy is in the midst of a really bad year. Neb/Illinois - toss up Oklahoma/Texas - hard for me to root for either of these teams, though I think Texas will win this. No sure things in this rivalry Hope Mizz puts up 50+ on BK and LSU Md/OSU - this game will show if Maryland’s 5-0 start is the real thing. FSU in a walk over VT Bama will take care of business against Texas A&M Ky/Georgia should be a pretty good game. Georgia is ripe for picking Irish will prevail, running away in the 2nd half to set up next week’s showdown with USC who will easily take care of Arizona this week. Bonus: BK on his D. "We have a process where we rely on our process for consistency, right? When we lose, we do the same thing. But sometimes you have to tweak your process," Kelly said. Yes, process.
  12. Yes, Mills has been pretty good since game 1, though I think Howard Cross has been stellar this year. That’s a pretty good tandem, Mills and Cross. I’m pretty impressed with the D overall this season.
  13. First they need to clean up all those penalties, can’t blame all of those on the refs. Duke has a good D, a very good D and well coached. That has to have some influence on the ND offense struggling against them. Coming into the season, I thought ND’s best 2 DL would be Jordan Botelho and Rylie Mills. Now it’s clear the best 2 are Howard Cross and Javonte Jean Baptiste. Did Brian Kelly hire the reincarnation of BVG as his DC at LSU???
  14. I may be mistaken, but I believe Freeman was the DC when we played Purdue last time, so he should be familiar with Jeff Brohm’s O. Assuming it hasn’t changed all that much. Louisville hasn’t opened with a tough schedule - Ga Tech, Indiana and NC St the best of the bunch. ND should win this, pulling away in the 2nd half.
  15. After a game like that, I usually refrain from threads like this for a few days. The first posts are usually emotional rants about the sorry state of everything ND football. I appreciate the later posts which are more realistic and representative of the actual situation. I think the future is so bright…😎😎😎
  16. This might make you feel a little 'cleaner' Rocketsan Miami TE Cam McCormick petitioning ACC for an unprecedented ninth year of college football eligibility https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/miami-te-cam-mccormick-petitioning-acc-for-an-unprecedented-ninth-year-of-college-football-eligibility/
  17. Yes, finally a worthwhile slate of games! Here's my take on it all. FSU/Clemson - Go FSU Okie/Cincy - Would like to see Cincy win this, but I don't think they will. Auburn/Texas A&M - Hope they both lose. SMU/TCU - TCU back down to earth. Colorado/Oregon - Think the Ducks take this going away. I see Deion talking about the death threats against the CSU player, basically saying that's nuts. Good on him. Sometimes he's 100% correct about things going on in college football. Other times, he's just a ..... UCLA/Utah - another good one, pulling for UCLA Ole Miss/bama - Just don't care for Kiffin or Ole Miss. If they're going to beat bama anytime soon, this is probably their best shot. Oregon St/Wash St - should be a good one, think Ore St pulls this out. Been impressed with the Oregon St coach the past few seasons. OSU/ND - Of course ND and I hope it's not even close (though I doubt that!). Iowa/Penn St - Iowa is boring Finally USC/Arizona St - Not so sure if ASU actually does have a pulse!
  18. 155. Arrr mateys. I'm fully cognizant of rule #2: The same member can't make back-to-back replies. But this is important and I couldn't let it pass by without a mention. If I must walk the plank for this, well then, shiver me timbers... Today, September 19, is 'Talk Like a Pirate Day'. 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️
  19. I'll go with Jordan Bothelho. If he steps up and starts wreaking havoc....I like our chances. Also, this should be a big game for the OSU transfer, Javontae Jean-Baptiste. He's gotta be pumped for this one. I'm not so worried about Al Golden's D. So far this season, ND hasn't really been seriously tested. I'm guessing he hasn't shown all his different blitz packages just yet.
  20. Yeah I see your point. He wasn’t at ND long enough to become an ND kind of guy. And the rumors around the negotiations before he left for A&M don’t shine a good light on him.
