If I were looking at this resume, I’d ask why he went to VaTech despite being “associate head coach” at Wisconsin, only to leave after one year to go to ND. And, why did the article above exclude any discussion of his productivity at VT…? Poor writing…or is there a reason. He seems great, but you have to slightly wonder…wasn’t Chryst an o-line guy, so hopefully, Rudolph wasn’t riding his coattails in the shadow of Chryst. It seems to be a stretch asking these questions…but you never know completely until you see the product on the field. Why VT…?

How do people feel about their energy spent being angry about not hiring Luke…? Waste of time and wish you waited until the final result or still a bit disappointed and still holding on to some resentment…? Honest question…no judgment. I’m personally happy with the hire and like my new perspective - ignore this crap until we know the end result.

To be fair, a guy like that is probably asking for assurances of being OC or something like that…. I wish this info wouldn’t leak so we can just judge the final decision on its own merits.

Except I’m sure Ludwig is mature enough to recognize and stick with the running game versus Rees who seemed like calling a running play was forcing him to pull a tooth each time. Tommy hated running the ball….and it cost us.

Honestly, I see it as one of two things - it’s a sign that Ludwig is coming and wants his own guy or a sign that Hiestand is upset he wasn’t promoted to OC.

Remember the time the media found a stupid resume discrepancy and cost us a decade of good football by forcing O’Leary out and allowing Willingham in…only for Willingham’s failure to recruit to catch up to Weis in his last couple years…. Ugghhh. I dislike the lack of accountability in the media. Could O’Leary just print a retraction and make it all good like these writers when they blatantly lie or fail at their jobs…?

Yes…Washington or whoever it is who couldn’t get his kid to come to ND. The kid isn’t the only evidence of that fact, but the easiest example off the top of my head.

I’m only here for the forums. I liked the old layout. I liked the simplicity. Now, the forum is a continuous feed that is vomiting at me. I’m good with zero homepage. I don’t read it or view it. All I want to know is the schedule. Otherwise, I want nothing more than broken out forums where there is a football discussion, a recruiting discussion, a basketball discussion, other sports discussion, and maybe an open discussion…the way it used to be. I came here over other sites around 2005, because it was simple. It’s overcomplicated, now, which is going to drive away existing members and keep away new members. Look, people come here for free information and free discussion. If they want to pay, they’re going to go to one of the established sites. And, with this trajectory, I’m going to start a site myself that is free. I have more money now than I had when I was 23…let’s not make DD more than it should be, since it will only make it worse. All it takes is one poster with all the inside recruiting info for free to create a site that gets traffic. Without that, the site will be in trouble, unless you offer something amazing that the other sites don’t, which is hard to do in this competitive space.

Just get someone who can recruit and let Freeman call the defense.

Disagree. You go to the defensive mind who will certainly prepare you for the NFL AND get you a national title. Pretty simple…there’s no “easy” way out…there’s “why he plays football”…to win titles and best prepare himself for his future. That’s with Nick Saban, currently, especially if you’re a defensive player.

Actually, Clay Helton was a pretty good OC before he got screwed and had to take the USC head coaching position.

I just want the best person for the job…any other factor like hair color does not impact how a person calls plays. Charlie Weis Jr would be great. There have to be OCs at the lower tier programs who are being productive like Tulane, Cincy, Liberty, or even some of the non-D1 programs. I love seeing people tutored by coaches like Kiffin. Think Niamatolo would want to have a little fun just being an OC? He would get to run his offense out of the shotgun.

The problem for Alabama is that it would take him half the season to realize Alabama can run the ball….first, Bama will have to drop a game to Vandy or Jacksonville State before he figures it out…
