If you are this young mans father allow me to welcome you to Domer Domain. You must forgive some of us for the rude reception and allow us to explain as we have seen this type of situation before. Unfortunately or otherwise some of us lead with our feelings and those feelings have been crushed in the past due to being jilted by certain young men who made commitments to our fine institution and we watched helplessly, later, as those indviduals turned their back on their commitments for various reasons.
You must understand sir that we collectively want nothing more than to see Notre Dame return to the national pedestal it belongs on. So when your comments were written and read by members of our family here without the benefit of the attached explanation the old "here we go again" poked its nasty little head from out of the closet. Personally sir I dont care what star ranking your son has as long as he is completely commited to our institution and its football program of which recruiting serves as its life blood and we follow it here at Domer Domain with dogged determination and loyalty.
As fans sir I can also assure you of the fact that even before your son has signed his name to his letter of intent we all here consider him a part of the Notre Dame family and would gladly take him with or without you! As a father myself I can understand your logic for the article and I have spent time in South Carolina and I do understand the local collective thought process and the pressure he must be facing. I give him credit for choosing the road less traveled and for wanting to be his own man! He chose a fine University to receive his higher education and once again we are happy to have him!
