I hate this. I have had enough of Kelly being the pseudo head coach/offensive coordinator. Sanford comes from a prolific offense and unfortunately I trust him more than I trust Kelly at this point to call the offensive plays. I was affraid something like this was going to happen. Wonder if Sanford is already plotting his break?

I'm curious to know the guys Kelly was referring to today in his presser when he repeatedly kept saying "we aren't done yet". Anyone have any ideas on guys that might be coming? 5th year seniors that can come in and contribute ala Riggs? It's intriguing.

One of my all time favorites at ND. Tuck was a beast and nearly unblockable his last year there. I remember thinking someone was going to get a steal in the draft.

Agreed! Say what you want about his coaching style or recruiting or what have you but why the personal attacks? Not necessary. He is long gone and I dont think anyone really misses him. We have a pretty good thing going right now.

Reminds me of Chris Wells recruitment at Ohio St. Butch Reynolds was one of his mentors who mysteriously found himself on the Ohio St. coaching staff right about the time or slightly before Wells committed.

James Aldridge was a good example.

Its funny how you guys are expecting these kids to make huge jumps in the rankings. A couple could possibly move up however, most dont. Your glass half full outklook still does not change the fact this is an extremely weak class. I dont know if the word weak is even good enough. Who cares about offers if you arent going to see the field? One of Bama's gray shirts perhaps? Im not saying these kids cant make it. You cant predict that. Historically speaking, most dont. This class needs a major shot in the arm or it could wind up being one of the worst in a while. Hopefully we see some movement from some of the upper tier recruits we are after.

Hopefully, if we are recruiting this kid, he fits the atmosphere. Im not worried about a little attitude. I think we need more of it on the field any way.

Better yet let's ask Mike Williams how his career went or also Leinart or Barkley or Sanchez or Dwayne Jarrett or Galippo, Steve Smith, McElroy, Richardson, McClain, Ingram, Bush, White, Rey, and a host of other worthless careers they have produced. I would bet you a lifetime of season tickets they would trade it all to have had a successful NFL career!

Hey son let's win a national championship and get you drafted in the fifth round lol. Dude your dreaming if you think these kids wouldn't trade it all to go pro and actually make a career out of it. Nice try though!

All of what 4 stars lol? When you recruit elite you can compete with elite.

You first statement is flat out wrong! No one is making fun of anybody. For you guys who think stars don't matter to people your delusional. It has to do with perception. Top kids want to play with top kids. They want to believe that they have a chance at a championship. Are you going to win a title with a collection of 3 star projects? Size is one thing and size with talent is completely different. I have followed recruiting long enough to see that we are struggling in certain areas right now.

I agree with this. If we are getting them mainly as filler im okay with some. I just cant get excited over three stars when Rivals puts it out there that we are interested in a three star linebacker directly after us losing one of the better quarterback prospects in the country. Its almost like they are trying to say this is what Notre Dame fans need to get excited about.

Some may be okay with that average, but I am not. Its not realistic to expect them to live up to an Eifert. There are also 5 star busts. I would rather take my chances with a 5 star kid! I know we cant get them all but we need to ,at the very least, attract a few.

I am sorry for the rant fellas but I am sick of seeing how excited the recruiting websites try to make us feel over another three star player receiving an offer and being "really" interested. In the famous words of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman "Well....no ****?" I get it! I get the fact coaches think they can mine hidden gems but we need talent. We dont necessarily always have the TIME to mold these kids and coach them into what they might be. Sure fire honest to God talent wins football games. Our recruting right now is underwhelming to say the least. Yeah losing Barnett spurred this rant however, when I saw us recruiting Ferrtita (spelling?) I could not help but think we might as well have asked any kid playing on a football field on Friday nights if they would like to play football at Notre Dame. I know some of these positions are stacked ala running back and kids are looking for early pt but we need to amp up the results here a little. I cant help but not get amped up and excited over average talent. Sorry again for the rant!

I agree about Fertitta. You can go to any high school in America on any given friday night during football season and see 35 clones of him standing on the sidelines. I do not like the amount of three stars we seem to sign every year. I get the law of averages and yes every once in a while we land a diamond in the rough but for the most part these kids are projects that need more than 4 years of seasoning in college and you tend to never hear from them again.

Let's go play for Saban and Kiffin! Two guys who have developed great qb's for the next level lol!!!???!!!
