Hey all, longtime member but don't post often.  I appreciate this forum and group.  I love being able to read and relate to other hardcore Irish fans.  That being said, I'd like to share my son's achievements from this past season on the football field.  My son, Cam Fravel is a 6'-2" 195lb DE from Indiana.  He's a 15 year old sophomore and a 2 year varsity starter of a back to back to back state runner up team.  I'm trying to help him reach his goal of earning a D1 scholarship with the ultimate goal being ND.  I thought I'd share his highlights (if the moderator allows) and ask for any insight or help from the Irish community to help him make it to D1 football.  Does anyone have any learned lessons from the recruiting process with their boy or even themselves?   Or do any of you have connections to programs?  Appreciate any help and Merry Christmas.

Go to camps. That will do more and get him in front of coaches of all levels. Even at NDs camp, they often have coaches from MAC schools or others helping out.

Correct on the camps.  I don't know what type of lifting program he's involved with or if he's even lifting, but that will help.  Beside the lifting, incorporating a program with it that develops plyometrics and running that will help enhance balance and speed.

He seems to have a good frame, and has room to grow.  Development of strength especially fast twitch muscle fibers, which more directly correlates to explosiveness is key.  Football is all about violent short bursts.

Ask around close to you.  Connor Colby, starting OL for Iowa, graduated a few years ahead of my son.  He had the dream of DI too and started asking around with what he needed to achieve his goals.  Those types of Q&A can come with the camps.

No issues at all with you sharing this on the board! I hope you can get some solid insights and I want to wish you the best of luck!

Camps, camps and more camps

Thanks guys. We've been camping ever since the season ended.  The plan is to hit them hard this summer.  We'll probably be going to a few MAC camps.  Last year he really enjoyed the ND Lineman Challenge Camp.  It was a great experience!
