I would say the staff is doing a good job.  However, closing the gap between them and the top 3 to 5 programs in the county is going to be an incredibly difficult task.

This probably doesn't belong in this post but I heard sometime interesting on an ND podcast.  Thinking it would be really interesting for the business school to put together a financial plan devised to give the football program the best path to success.  That would include all financial aspects associated with the football program.  Something like that might already be happening and either way, it could only help.

Agreed. IMO the staff has done well mostly years in the past 10ish years. I don't know if we will ever close the gap with the top 3-4 teams year to year. But I don't think we need to (to win a CFP). Just a top 10 roster, and a good D, and an great to elite QB. Not saying we'd be bully/killer team every year, but good timing with a very good QB to luck out a couple times a decade. Biggest thing, we need to win to attract kids. No more losses to Marshall and Stanford when we have a top 10 talent rating. Just no excuses for that.

I chuckled about the last part above...

One of my second cousins is a JR in ND and taking business... He's a straight A kid. Constantly complains about several of his profs. Especially his econ prof is a total Marxist/Socialist or similar. I would like to see several business plans from the school. Make it a competition. I'm sure would be good, and several would be LOL.

It's funny how a new coach and a few years can make a difference.

It used to be Alabama, Ohio St, and Clemson were the three top schools everyone mentioned.

Now Georgia with Smart has moved up into the Top 3 and Clemson has slipped just a bit.

Not to underestimate the challenge for Freeman but maintaining at least 75% Blue Chip recruits in each class should get ND closer to a Top 5 composite roster.

Relentless recruiting along with good NIL, winning, and putting skilled positions into the NFL all come into play.
