It can all be repaired, just a major inconvenience. Thank god no one was injured.. Been playing a lot of candle light table top hockey and teaching the kids how to play pinochle.. Looks like we are gonna be without electricity for a while... I have a well so no running water.. Flushing toilets with pails full of water gives you that Kosovo feel!!

We were lucky in northeast PA. Some people with no power but nothing real serious. I did see an 8 year boy was killed in Susquehanna County by a falling branch on Monday afternoon. Very sad.

overwhelming devastation...so many lost everything. my brother lost his home to a fire and the first floor of another to water damage. his dog was missing until today.... he's so happy that Duchess is okay that nothing else matters... things can be replaced? Fighting Irish!!

The true effects of Sandy were realized today. During the storm, there was a power surge that compromised the compressor on my fridge. Realized yesterday that the fridge was no longer maintaining temperature and had to buy a new one. House reeks of spoiled food that took 3 trash bags to remove.

 

Luckily, I have a ridiculously effective patio fridge to store all my beer. Oh wait---just figured out that the storm surge jacked that one up too. Here I am stuck at home with the boy with no way to keep beer cold for the game.

 

Just ran to the liquor store to buy a bag of ice and an 18 pack. Living out of a cooler until the 9th when a new fridge can be delivered.

 

Unplug your appliances during a storm, folks. I will accept your prayers.
