  1. And there will be numerous DD threads in the future whenever he associates with nefarious types (saw that word in the DGB thread and love it; I don't use it much but it is classically descriptive)
  2. http://www.maxpreps.com/news/8aOUNByZ3EipSxYiUElMBw/maxpreps-final-top-25-national-high-school-football-rankings--washington-wins-national-title.htm http://www.maxpreps.com/news/63z227AWFUO5HZqp2qOm8A/2012-final-maxpreps-xcellent-25-national-football-rankings--john-curtis-is-the-national-champ.htm Allen, #2 in the country 2013, #5 in the country 2012. $65 million dollar stadium opened 1.5 years ago. Closed a month ago due to foundation problems. Probably won't ever play there again.
  3. What has happened to Cole Luke? Haven't heard much about him yet.
  4. Agree. The new coach they'll bring in at the end of the season is only going to have two months to recruit, so he'll have to double down on the guys that UF has already offered but haven't yet committed.
  5. Now this is the way a board should operate. Subtle barbs and humor mixed in with cogent discussion. Nice stuff there, Echo.
  6. The defense will be good. They'll probably give up a few more big plays than the last few years because they'll be more aggressive/attacking in style, but I'll bet they create more turnovers too. This will be a fun year to watch the offensive machinery become well-oiled, but that defense has the players, and I believe now the scheme, to make things happen (in a good way).
  7. -Bryant is a beast and will play A LOT. -Robinson catches everything, defender grabbing his jersey or not. -I really liked when the camera was following the receivers, who were well-covered most of the time, and the ball just settled from out of nowhere into their hands. Gonna be a fun year offensively.
  8. It seems a bit unrealistic to me to think that a kid who is 16/17 years old and commits to a college is NEVER going to entertain thoughts about other colleges. Every decent football playing junior is going to be seen one way or another by every major college football program. The internet and social media have forever changed recruiting. I hope he sticks with ND; won't be surprised to see him end up at A&M or LSU.
  9. We still have Mahone. Wonder what ever happened to him.
  10. ND made progress in Texas while UT was down. Now that UT has Strong and A&M has Sumlin, I doubt ND steals many kids from Texas over the next few years.
  11. I'm not sold on BK being better than Urban. Getting back to BI's question, however, I would ask BI which coaches in the SEC are undoubtedly better than BK? Saban, well, okay, give ya' that one. The other "name" coaches? Miles, Sumlin, Malzahn, Spurrier, Richt, Muschamp? All of them definitely better than BK? I believe that if you put BK at LSU, A&M, or Auburn, with the same players that are there now, he would do at least as well as the coaches that are there now. Put him at Georgia or South Carolina or Florida I think he'd do better than the guys that are there now. ND has limitations in recruiting that those schools will never have. Finding the kid who wants to spend a ton of time in the classroom/library/lab as well as on the football field, in a place where it's cold from November through early April, where the scenery is not the same as in the warm weather south, where there is no escaping the religious element, where there's no big-screen to watch yourself on in the stadium, and where the town is not so hot, well, that's hard to do. Hard to find that guy. Hard to make him want to play at ND. Winning can change some, but not all, of that, regardless of who the coach is. Heck, if winning was all that mattered, Alabama would be getting every 5 star on the planet. Just my opinion.
  12. Beat FSU in Florida and USC in LA and you'll see a few 5 stars from those areas decide South Bend is the place to be.
  13. Can't we just move ND to, say, South Carolina or northern Florida? Can't we just get rid of all those darn academic restrictions on who can be recruited (bring on the juco's!)? Can't we get a jumbotron? Can't we get a coach who plays all nicey-nice with all the recruits all the time? Can't we get more 'appropriate' female escorts for recruits during their visits? Maybe if we did all of those things we might get more 5-star players to commit to ND. Maybe. Blame it on Kelly if you must.
  14. A lot of thought went into that post. Crazy stuff going on right now. Who knows?
  15. Thass Nike talk, bro. We UA now! Really, though, what a great comment from Bryant. I really hope this kid lives up to the expectations heaped upon him by all of us, I hope he does graduate from ND, and I hope that he has a long, successful career in the NFL and/or beyond.
  16. The Bruno Mars show was terrific. I like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but I thought they brought the show down several notches. Bruno Mars was pure entertainment. RHCP just trashed it up.
  17. Darn. Looks like we missed out on Tee Shepard again! Committed to Mississippi State.
  18. Quick and Smith have planned to announce on NSD. However, I think that if neither of them commits to another school before NSD, ND will get one or the other, or both. If either has already absolutely decided on USC or OU or Oregon or UCLA, he could have a big announcement on any day about his commitment and wouldn't have to wait until NSD. It just seems to me that delaying the announcement to NSD works in ND's favor. Clearly I'm a 'homer domer' with high hopes and am irrational at this point.
  19. A Parade All-American, along with Quenton Nelson.
  20. What I wanna know is when, exactly, will teams and leagues have to begin getting long-term care insurance for head injuries? PeeWee? YMCA leagues? Junior high? Why is there an assumption that these head injuries only matter after high school? I've seen plenty of kids get significant head injuries and concussions in 5th grade ball.
  21. I agree. Lots of warm-weather college kids are drafted by, and excel on, cold-weather NFL teams, which was the point of my post. If you're really good, and you play college ball under good coaches, you'll have at least a chance, whether you play at Northern Illinois, Central Florida, USC, or ND. I just don't think the weather at the college you attended determines if you'll be good-to-go if you're drafted by a cold-weather NFL team.
  22. Almost sounds like he's been reading this Board.
  23. In the year 2014, JuJu's response is to whip out his iPad and check the rosters of the Packers and the Bears. He finds that Kelly's argument is full of yellow snow. The Packers have 0 players from ND, but 2 from UCLA, 2 from USC, and one from: LSU, Cal, Miami, Georgia Tech, San Jose State, Alabama, TCU. The Bears have 0 from ND, 2 from Florida, 2 from Arizona, and one from: Cal, Miami, LSU, Central Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Rice, Texas, and Texas A&M. He signs the LOI with the warm weather school and takes his chances with the NFL draft.
