  1. Players gotta play, coaches gotta coach. If ND players and coaches do their jobs, it shouldn’t be close. Recruiting rankings the last four cycles starting 2020 and working back: ND 18, 15, 10 ,10 BC 62, 64, 71, 67
  2. I think of totalitarians as those who seek to squash the voices of dissent, limit what can be said and printed and what goes over the airwaves, and imprison those deemed a danger to their way of thought. To me that sound much more like the far left wing of the Democratic Party (not the more moderates, although their voices are being drowned out by the rising noise) than the Republican Party. Making lists of those who disagree and publishing them. Doxing. It’s enough to drive people underground. That’s exactly why the pollsters were so very terribly wrong about this election. And remember, those on the far left will no longer accept the phrase ‘man up’. It’s now, ‘person who doesn’t bleed up’. If you continue to use gender phrases so indiscriminately your name will end up on a list and you will be doxed. You surely know by now that all genders can menstruate.
  3. And remember, according to the CDC, the median age of death of those dying with (not necessarily from) COVID is 78. Average life expectancy for a baby born in the US this morning is also 78. Perspective. Not politics. Just stats.
  4. There are a lot of great spots. I'm more familiar with the western side of the metroplex than the Dallas side. As you've seen, it's a large area. It's probably not worth driving an hour to get good food; there's almost certainly something great within 15 to 25 minutes of anywhere you live. A couple of good sources for newer places on the west side of the metroplex are Fort Worth Texas Magazine, and 360 West Magazine. They both have a nice online presence and always try to outdo each other with the newest and greatest everything. They both also always have a yearly 'Best of' magazine. Those magazines will list favorite restaurants of each type, both those voted on by the readers as well as those recommended by the magazine staff. If you're looking for something on the western side of the metroplex, consider: New Texas cuisine: Lonesome Dove, Provender Hall, Reata Tex-Mex (get used to it; love it): Mi Cocina Mex-Tex: Mesero Steak: all over the place. Great steak abounds. Del Frisco's in a standby; Capital Grille excels, but so many great options Burgers: also great options all over. Fast food standard: Whataburger Eclectic burgers: Rodeo Goat Dine-in burger joint that's awesome: Kincaid's Not many great options for Italian or Chinese. Pizza: Black Cat, Mellow Mushroom, Fireside Pies Don't know if you're on the west, east or in between. A fun option for in between: Texxas Live. Several restaurants in one complex between the stadiums where the Cowboys and Rangers play. Don't know if that helps, but lots of options.
  5. And there you have it. Case closed. Except for those pesky legal issues... https://www.pennlive.com/elections/2020/11/a-trump-win-pa-court-says-commonwealth-secretary-boockvar-lacked-authority-to-extend-ballot-deadline.html Now, it may not be fraud, and it will not likely change the outcome. Again, I don't know what's being presented to the courts. But something is being presented, and it's not all being thrown out. Since it's not all being thrown out, maybe there's something to some of the individual arguments. If Trump wins more of these legal arguments in court, would it be pathetic and ridiculous for a petulant Biden to appeal those decisions to a higher court? Or would he just have to man up and accept the court's decisions? Of course not. He would take advantage of his right to appeal, according to the applicable laws. I'm glad that so many posters are so adamant. I'm confident Biden won the election. I'm also all for being sure that processes are fair and inclusive. And legal. And we all need to be mindful of our gender phrasing. ‘Man up’ is no longer accepted. The correct phrasing has been changed. It now is ‘person who doesn’t bleed up’. While that just doesn’t sound right, I guess those born with XY chromosomes just need to person who doesn’t bleed up and accept it. Unless of course they’re misogynistic.
  6. You and I are going to disagree about this forever, and that's fine. I agree that Trump and his minions could use better wording. However, just because you and I don't have all the information available that is being presented to the courts, that doesn't mean that there's nothing valid being presented. Just because a news outlet doesn't report something doesn't mean it didn't happen. I'm pretty sure that citizens of Beijing have no idea about what's happening to the Uyghurs in Xinjiang, for instance. As with any litigation, I prefer to let the legal arguments run their course, rather than trying things on the internet or in the media. I don't have all the information that the courts receive. Maybe you do. Use better language, you Trumpians! Courts, show us what you got! Media, report what the courts actually got! Don't spin it, just report it! (as if...)
  7. Nicely stated. However, the losing side in a close election will always either question the result or review what they did or didn't do to help them win. In my opinion, rather than damaging electoral processes, I think these types of reviews just make the processes better over the long term. Reviews like these mandate that states "come a long way", just as Florida did after 2000. We don't use chads any more. Perhaps we need to continue to look at, expose, and improve flawed processes across the board. Nothing wrong with that, at least to me.
  8. Embarrassment is subjective. And much like shame and anger, we as individuals and society often learn from these strong emotions and become better. But emotions don’t often win legal arguments. And of course you’re right. It only took them 35 days after the 2000 election to certify the outcome. Bush lead by 1700 votes and it was challenged. They literally brought in chad experts who could discern how a voter meant to vote based on how a chad was hanging. Was that a fiasco or an embarrassment? To many it certainly was. And it took 35 days to figure it out for such small numbers in one state. Numbers and percentages actually do matter. If a state our a county has laws that allow for recounts when the margin of victory is less than x percent, then the losing candidate by law is allowed to challenge. What’s being done today is exposure of more flawed processes. Maybe not hanging chads but flawed in other ways. Regardless of the outcome, which seems pretty clear, the exposure of flawed processes will result in more fair and inclusive voting in future elections. And make no mistake, this is also about future elections. Vote by mail will become a bigger issue. It seems like a good idea to do everything possible to ensure it is a process through which all votes cast legally and on time are counted. Those that fall outside those boundaries are not. The process in Pennsylvania was flawed. Enough to change the outcome? Probably not. But if it’s flawed enough to cast this degree of doubt (maybe not to many but certainly to a large number) then why not expose it so it has to change? Documents and witnesses have been presented to various courts. The question remains whether the courts view the evidence presented as enough to take the actions the plaintiffs seek. If it were so clear, the courts would have shot everything down already. It’s a farce and embarrassment for you and for everyone who voted for Harris/Biden and for many who voted for Trump. It’s not a legal farce and that really really gets under peoples’ skin. When enough people don’t like certain laws, they elect people to change them. Like Kamala. Make sure the processes are valid. Make sure they pass constitutional muster, or at least look decent enough to be almost reasonably validated by the majority of the 9 or however many Supreme Court justices.
  9. I wonder if ND goes with huddles again, possibly concerned that Phil was signaling in plays for ND for a couple years and could give BC some intel on that.
  10. If I recall, the democrats spent 4 years trying to show collusion between Trump and Russia. Because there was just no way Donald could have beaten St. Hillary without actively working with the Russians. If I recall, investigation showed no collusion. I didn’t say anything about Clinton, but rather the Democratic Party. You know, Pelosi’s and Schumer's party and investigation after investigation. Russia may surely have tried to alter the election. No one disputes this. China and Iran probably did too, both in 2016 and in 2020. The US has certainly tried to alter elections in Venezuela, throughout the Americas, and abroad. No one disputes that either. Trump does, of course, have a right to do what the laws allow him to do. We don’t all agree with every local, state, and federal law, but that’s what appellate courts are all about. Most of us (including me) dislike what he is doing, but I for one do not begrudge him doing it if the laws allow him to do it. What on earth is wrong about making sure votes were done and counted legally? Didn’t 2000 set precedent for that? If courts determine that everything is as it should be, I’m confident Donald will hand in the keys. I just hope no one in the Biden transition team has the audacity to reach out to any foreign intermediaries until Biden is sworn in. We've seen what can happen.
  11. This sounds an awful lot like how the Democratic Party and those who vote Democrat reacted to the result of the 2016 election and the subsequent 4 years. I guess the Russians just weren’t smart enough this time around... Maybe the Iranians and Chinese were? I wish I could remember the phrase...something about reaping and sowing...
  12. If an ACC coach says that, it must also mean that game planning for ND's multiple tight end formations must be that much more difficult.
  13. True and valid points. Unlikely to accomplish anything. Here's a reasonable synopsis of where things stand and what team Trump is trying to accomplish. I know many of you don't like the source (National Review) but this article does provide a good summary. https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/11/trumps-vote-count-lawsuits-the-election-endgame/
  14. I started posting on this site in 2018 that 2020 would be ND’s year. Didn’t predict the pandemic, joining a conference, but I’m sticking with it! Hopefully I won’t have to learn the appropriate oven settings for crow.
  15. I don’t remember hearing TaRiq Bracy’s name called after that long Clemson pass play for a TD. Did he play most of the game? Did ND put in Lewis or someone else?
  16. I saw several posts on FaceBook about this right after the game. I responded with links to photos of the thousands of people in New York and DC celebrating the Biden election and asked, shouldn't adults be held to the same standards as college kids? If people are going to be critical of the college kids, they should be critical of the adults. Heck, Mayor de Blasio of NYC was taking selfies with people in the crowds, even wrapping his exposed bare arms and hands around people's waists and shoulders. No social distancing there! But I digress. This is for the Open Forum I suppose.
  17. Committed I think, not signed.
  18. Finally! I am so glad to read that someone finally agrees that police officers are entitled to due process. Cases should be tried in the courts, not in the burning streets of America’s great cities.
  19. So to be clear, you won’t accept my challenge to publicly acknowledge that what the Antifa idea supporters did by burning down buildings in Portland, Seattle, and Philadelphia was criminal? That type of protest is actually legal and to be accepted as norm? No recourse? I acknowledge that the Oklahoma City bombers committed crimes, and acknowledge that once a court of law decides the people in Michigan are guilty of what has been reported that they too committed crimes (regardless of political ideology/affiliation). I believe the Antifa idealists committed crimes when they burned buildings and shot police officers. Do you?
  20. It’s interesting that people see things so differently. I’m much more worried about the massive numbers of people calling to ‘burn it down’ related to anyone who says anything they don’t believe or want to hear. I believe those people are more numerous and more of a threat to society as a whole than a family that does a very locally limited protest about one issue they feel strongly about. I don’t agree with that family or how they went about things, but to me that was very limited and local. They didn’t actually take to the streets of cities across the country and literally burn things down. Of course individuals like the Oklahoma City guys were horrible, but so too were the Boston Marathon bombers. Both researched and carried out plots to kill people based on belief systems. As we move forward beyond today, hopefully in the US we’ll never see big groups on a large scale commit criminal acts on individuals or their property for simply having an opinions and beliefs that differ from their own. Right or left.
  21. Actually I got the term ‘militia’ from this NY Times article (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/09/us/michigan-militia-whitmer.html). They used the word, I just parroted it. Stupid people on the right. Because, I guess, only people on the right (and maybe all people on the right?) do stupid things. No person on the left has ever beaten or shot police or burned down buildings. I don’t know why people on the left find it impossible to acknowledge that people acting in the name of the idea that is Antifa have actually committed crimes and done horrible things. I’ll freely acknowledge that people on the right have. But Antifa-related actions have been pretty awful too. I don’t suppose you would accept my challenge to acknowledge that people protesting in the name of Antifa have actually committed crimes? I’m sure that the owners of the burned buildings, and their insurance companies, believe that crimes have been committed. And really. Be honest. Which group do you think would be more likely to act like ISIS and burn people in cages while parading that spectacle through a town square right here in the US: Antifa types or militia types?
  22. You just have to open your eyes and watch to ‘see’. As I said, stupid people are present on the right and the left. Stupid Antifa people are burning down buildings and shooting people. We’ve seen that. Stupid militia members plotted to kidnap a governor. They didn’t do it, mind you, but were plotting to do it. We’ve seen that too. So, I’ll watch and see how the process plays itself out. If it’s legal to challenge an outcome of an election, then the losing party has the right to legally challenge it. Stupid people on the left might then do stupid things like shoot more police. Is that Trump’s fault for legally challenging something? Stupid people on the right might organize something too. Are they actively plotting something new, different than the Michigan thing? You seem to have inside information. Of course we ALL want peace and prosperity. We ALL care about these things. No reasonable person wants to see destruction and possible death. I happen to be of the opinion that Antifa has been causing actual death and destruction, while some militia members got caught plotting a kidnapping. And you are ridiculous, RIDICULOUS, to compare anything either side has done in the US to ISIS. Burning people alive in cages and sawing off heads and mass rapes, well, I haven’t SEEN anything resembling that by anyone in the US.
  23. Really? You have inside information? And there are just no, NO Antifa people plotting things? Oops. I forgot. Antifa is just an idea, not an organization. So, this 'idea' goes out and literally shoots and kills people (including police), burns down buildings, but it's the Proud Boys who get all the media attention? Please share your inside connections about the right wing terrorists plotting terrorist actions. Maybe you're one of them if you happen to know so much?
  24. I guess we'll see. I just don't think that all those businesses boarded up because they were worried about what people who support Trump would do. There are stupid people who support Trump, and stupid people who support Biden/Harris. Either group can wreak havoc. If somehow Trump's legal challenges change the status, there will be legal challenges from the democrats. In that scenario, though, buildings will actually be burned to the ground, not by Trump supporters. I don't see any buildings burning to the ground by those Trump supporters who believe the election has been stolen. It seems that, while unhappy about it, they are more-or-less content to let the legal process play itself out. I guess we'll see.
  25. I hope hope somehow ND pulls in one or two more top-end defensive recruits in this class. Hopefully last night's game will create some enthusiasm. That defense was awesome, but they need a continuous stream to keep it going.
