  1. “I hate getting these d%#n rubber chips in my mouth every time I have to be the holder for a stinkin’ 3 points!”
  2. Really looking forward to see this guy play. Looks like a bruiser with speed.
  3. Nice article. Thanks for the link. It notes that only ND and Maryland have made the tournament each of the last 15 seasons.
  4. Over the weekend, for the first time this year, they lost a series. #13 Florida State took 2 out of 3.
  5. His offer list was a who’s who list of elite programs. I love it when ND lands a kid with that kind of list.
  6. Put Mayer on the field with that and the defense would have a very difficult time I think.
  7. And, just as I type the above, he enters the transfer portal. Go earn your 1st round draft status with another team, Jordan. Prove to us all that Kelly is wrong.
  8. I hope that Jordan Johnson gets a ton of playing time and becomes everything we all hoped he would be when he signed his LOI. However, I have no idea what the 'issues' are that keep him from playing more. Kelly has a team to run. He has a culture he has curated. He has been to the playoffs two times in three years because of the things he has been doing. If Johnson is doing something off the field that counters the culture, if he has been having academic issues or recreational herbal issues or something else, Kelly has to impart discipline to Johnson just as he would to anyone else. If Johnson is not performing during practice at the level of the other receivers, I'm all for Kelly playing the other receivers. Johnson has to earn it, like everyone else. Again, I have no idea what the issues are. I don't think Kelly is an idiot. I believe Kelly can identify talent better than I can. Kelly wants to win. I want Johnson to be a first round pick on draft day some day, having demonstrated his immense talents on the field while a member of the Fighting Irish. Earn it, Jordan.
  9. I keep reading how Coan stays in the pocket and looks downfield. I know very knowledgeable people love that in a QB. I personally don’t care if a QB stands in the pocket. I want a QB who can consistently drive the team down the field to score. However that gets done. If a guy who takes a sack per drive because he stays in the pocket is able to move the team to score consistently, that’s the guy I want. If a QB who can’t see over the Oline and has to role out consistently moves the team to score, that’s the guy I want. Just score baby. However you do it. I like Pyne. Voted for him in the QB poll. He throws a nice ball, and in the videos it seems to me fewer of his passes are intercepted or broken up than Coan’s. I realize we’re only seeing three minute clips so who really knows?
  10. I think ND has the players right now to be very very successful. IMO Rees is the key. Hard to believe that he is ND's OC, but he is. If he can design an offense to the strengths of the players, if he can create a dynamic game plan for each opponent, and if he can make effective in-game adjustments, I believe ND will surprise people and maybe go 11-1 regular season. On offense, as it stands, I don't see that a major injury at one or two positions will derail things. Depth is there. I think the O-line will be good at the start of the season and excellent later in the season. I'm a homer, for sure. Too optimistic maybe. ND was very successful with Book. I believe ND can be at least as successful with the QB's on the team right now, even if one goes down. I loved Book but believe Pyne will be better and Coan could be better. IF Rees can modify the offense to fit these guys. Rees, to me, is the key to the entire season.
  11. Seems like a lot of the snaps were really lowww.
  12. Everyone I know who has been to USC says it's a beautiful campus. Apparently they're even upgrading the surrounding neighborhood. I've only been to Lubbock once, and that wasn't for a game. Never been to Tech. Maybe that's the issue. Maybe a lot of fans from outside the state don't travel to that relatively isolated place? TCU's campus has undergone a MAJOR upgrade during the Patterson era. No way it would have happened without their team being successful. The change has been dramatic.
  13. Baseball America projects ND to be a regional host for the tournament: Projected Field of 64 Ranked #7 this week! https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/college-baseball-top-25/ Louisville ranked #2. ND is 1-1 with Louisville this year.
  14. Based on recruiting, I totally can see Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Oregon, and Miami "taking the next step". Unfortunately form A&M, they're in the SEC so it's unlikely they'll really take that step until St. Nick is gone. Miami could get to a point where they scare Clemson. USC and Oregon recruit really well and pretty much only have to beat each other. I don't see Nebraska, UCLA, or Ole Miss taking that step. You're so right about USC. They have recruited very well. Talent abounds. Playing them Oct 23, followed by North Carolina the following week, will be pretty tough.
  15. Stanford's campus is okay, but #2? A ton of concrete, not nearly as green as ND or others on the list. Duke has a beautiful campus. University of Washington is very nice. Ann Arbor is okay. Haven't been to a lot of campuses so it's hard to know. I DO know ND has an absolutely wonderful campus; hard to imagine a prettier campus.
  16. Any way to include a football schedule? I'd like to have one here, rather than having to go somewhere else to see when a game is coming up. Not a bit deal really, but might be of interest.
  17. ND baseball is actually very good. Under the radar, but very good. Last year they were 11-2 before the season ended. New coach, better recruiting. Worth keeping an eye on.
  18. I get what you’re saying. But, I don’t know what being a moderator entails. I think moderators should be allowed to express their beliefs just like everyone else. I have never, in 9 years, found that a moderator deleted or ‘jailed’ a poster who had differing beliefs. The only interdictions I have seen were done because of a poster or two clearly violating anyone’s sense of decency, using racial slurs, for instance. I agree that sometimes posters state things that seem imprecise or even just crazy. But unless they violate clear community standards, I say go for it, moderator or not. As a reader, It’s my choice to read and/or respond. If I decide I don’t like it, I either don’t respond or I could quit coming back. That’s all I will say here. This isn’t the forum.
  19. I’d like it to be easier to see that I’m still signed in. It’s not hard to click to find out, but I’d prefer something showing that I’m signed in without having to look for it.
  20. Been a member since 2012. Love the sporting insight provided by so many knowledgeable posters. Love the passion. People often don’t agree, and it can get heated, but that’s part of the fun. I used to post a lot on the forum but stopped. Found it to be too much like Facebook. Too many people trying to change other peoples’ minds but never changing anyone’s mind. On FB people just unfriend each other. I believe I’d like almost everyone who posts on DomerDomain, but the forum often goes too dark and becomes too deeply personally insulting for me. And, I don’t really have the time to pull a lot of references; just too time-consuming. I now stick more with the sporting side of things and leave the political debates to others. It’s ND sports that brought me to DD, and that what keeps me coming back.
  21. I think people should post what they want. I agree that it’s a bad look when people post odd or crazy things. But, what’s a conspiracy theory today may turn out to be the real truth tomorrow. Support with evidence, not feelings, what you post.
  22. Pyne looks pretty good to me in this video. I know a lot of people here don't like his height and supposed lack of arm strength, but winners just win. Coan seems to have the inside track to the starting job, but in these videos it seems like he throws into traffic a lot. Clearly it's just the second spring practice. A lot of time to sort it out. I'll be happy with whoever the staff thinks will give ND the best chance to win. I hope that ND has plenty of opportunities to bring in the backup during games this year so he can get meaningful playing time, and not just to hand off the ball.
  23. Must have been a micro-brewery then?!
