  1. Speaking of Notre Dame players that are Captains. J.J. Jansen, baby! (I'm a Panthers fan and hoping he can long snap us to a championship for his likely swan song season)
  2. Yup! If you're referring to this image at the top. Thanks @Rocketsan!
  3. I was debating on whether or not to make a thread on this, but I figured I would gauge interest. @FaithInIrishForever has been doing a great job updating the homepage with new content, mainly video highlights, hype videos, interviews, etc. But I wanted to make a topic to see if anyone had interest in creating original content (written). There are a lot of posters here who put out great content, but if you have experience writing for the web, or wanted to have a platform to share that content to a possibly wider audience, I'm open to it. I do realize you would be doing myself and the site a favor. And I won't give any silly explanation about 'exposure'. But if you already had a longer post / deep-dive you planned on posting on the forums, anyways, you're more than welcome to reach-out. Anything & everything is also welcome to be re-shared in the forum. It could be round-ups of predictions, what fans of [opponent] are saying for this week's matchup, breakdowns or analysis of the past week's game, etc. If you did contribute at least once a month, I would be able to offer would be VIP Supporter Status. I know it's not much, but it's about all I can reasonably do right now. VIP Supporter Status: No Ads Custom Name Color (Notre Dame Gold) Ability to change Display Name Can delete own content Can use animated profile photos (Gifs) Free 'Featured Listings' on Marketplace Unlimited Edit Time Thanks for any consideration. Any questions, concerns, ideas, etc. let me know. I'm open to any and all feedback.
  4. When he said it, you knew that "journalists" & media networks were going to run with it...
  5. It was clear to me that pounding that story was more important than a thriller of a game. Happy he made it back and is defying the odds, but it was way overkill. Reffing was absolute
  6. I think most are in the live chat. https://www.domerdomain.com/forum/bimchatbox/
  7. This is likely J.J. Jansen's last year with Carolina as they just drafted his replacement. He was an awesome LS for 14 (I think) years and one of the most liked players on the team. This will be his swan song season, if there ever could be one for a Long Snapper.
  8. I watched every bit of the Panthers preseason games, and Tommy Tremble is the real deal. I heard he had potential when he comes to receiving and knew all about his blocking ability, but he has been fantastic as a receiver and made some great plays. He's going to get a lot of playing time this season. And make a lot of plays
  9. I opened up the chatroom to everyone (guests can only view) as a bit of a test to see how people take to it. I'm considering adding the chat block it to the main site or sidebar during game days, possibly as a desktop only option. Live chat has a tendency to get a bit muddy / heated at times, so please try and be civil. Thanks all! Chat Room: https://www.domerdomain.com/forum/bimchatbox/
  10. It's an all or nothing option, unfortunately. Whatever way it's set it would have to be forum-wide.
  11. Good suggestion @jimbo! Just made the change on both Light & Dark themes. Hope this helps ?
  12. @Jersey Irish- This is a double edged sword / impossible task to please everyone. I have two options for this. 1. Enable something called lazy loading. This allows you to load all the text, avatars, etc. immediately. But media / tweets don't load until you scroll to them. But the page as a whole loads much quicker 2. Disable lazy loading. This has everything load up-front, media files, tweets, etc. But causes the page to load slower as a whole. I personally prefer lazy loading, but when it was enabled, I had a few requests to have media all load at the onset. Since making the change, I haven't had any mentions of it. To save on server usage before the season, however, I'll give lazy loading one more shot and see how it goes. And if you have any thoughts, feel free to let me know!
  13. Looked into it and meant to respond once I got on the computer, so thanks for the follow-up / reminder. Unfortunately it's a limitation with Apple products (iPhone, Safari, Mac, etc.). Apple currently doesn't support Web Push Notifications.
  14. Hey @NYGoldenDomer, yeah it's an admin privilege. I actually visit another forum on the new software, and give directions on how to, yet there leaving it as is and it's driving me nuts. Haha. There's a button in the admin section that you need to click to re-calculate. Might take a day or two two finishing but the board is fully functional while it updates. Directions in AdminCP: Head to Members (Person icon) Achievements > Settings Click " + Rebuild Members' Achievements" And you should be good.
  15. It's the off-season, so activity is less than I would expect during the season. Maybe most members wasn't the best phrasing, but a vast majority of people who did comment on the upgrades did welcome them. There were 1 or 2 outliers, but it was almost all positive. But it's a stark contrast to how the forum was. And although I'm not a Notre Dame fan, I'm a fan of the sport. So I don't understand how that's relevant as long as I'm trying to provide a better experience for Notre Dame fans. And Sessions are up 30% this year vs last year at this time, with pageviews up 60%, so I'm hoping I'm doing that to some degree. Plus the addition of a ticket exchange, reactions, and being open to more member requests, I don't see what I'm doing wrong here. Thank you for understanding & support @jbrown_9999. And you are right about this being a hobby with the hopes to build it to be more than that in the next 10 - 15 years. The financials alone are at a spot where it'll take 4 years or so to earn back costs. But I'll certainly make some mistakes along the way, and correct them. I'm always open to feedback as well. I really appreciate the understanding. For future reference, what kind of questions should I have asked before making changes? Upgrading the software was an absolute must for multiple reasons. But I'm always looking to learn. So please provide some actionable feedback and I'll definitely take it into consideration next time it's applicable.
  16. I don't appreciate the sarcasm. Most members are a fan of the changes. And you're welcome be a part of the discussion and provide feedback. But if it's too much of an inconvenience, nobody's forcing you to hang around. Can't please everyone. Anyways, there's a message quota of 50 conversations for members and 100 for mods. Anybody who was over that limit before the migration is over the quota and would need to get below it. Sounds like @Rocketsanis above that. I just added an alert plugin so members could hopefully see if they're over the quota going forward. Like I said, I'm receptive to feedback and will try to accommodate. Feel free to leave constructive criticism or feedback. But whining isn't a very mature approach. Thanks.
  17. I can't believe how split this poll is. As of right now it's 50/50 if you take my vote out of the equation.
  18. The only way I knew of doing that would be to Right Click > Paste as Plain Text when pasting it. That would remove any formatting / hyperlinks, etc. though. It's always been one of my pet peeves with the software. I can make it do 'plain text' by default, but once again, all those 'rich' features would be lost. I did some digging and I was able to add a 'Clear Format' button that I could add to the editor. You should now be able to highlight the text that's wrong and click this button, which should fix it for both dark & light mode. Unfortunately there's no way to have it apply automatically that I can find, but it's a band-aid that beats doing it manually. Note: Different color text, underline, and bold may revert to default font, but hyperlinks so should remain in place. Tested below: MO CB Christian Gray (Offer) PA LB Ta'Mere Robinson (Offer) OH DL Luke Montgomery (Offer)*
  19. Thanks so much!!! I can gladly say the major changes are done for the most part, minus the yearly software upgrades (probably summer each year). Unless there are any quality of life upgrades I think of or user suggestions, which I'm open to. My goal is to have this place be as inviting as possible, but allow everyone to discuss anything freely without worry. And I'm pretty happy with where things are ?
  20. Thanks @FaithInIrishForever! I've actually been contemplating an additional forum for anything political / heated where things can be less-heavily moderated. There's a tendency for that kind of stuff to go south quick. So keep an eye out, but that kind of content is probably best suited outside of main chats. Keep an eye out ?
  21. Logging In system change. For security reasons, when you log-in going forward, you'll need to use your email address. It used to be login OR display name. But there's a security risk of bots being able to potentially login / guess your password via display name. We never saw that be a problem, but don't want to see it be a problem either. Since emails are private / inaccessible to members or bots, it's more secure. If you have any problems / forgot your email, you can use the "Contact Us' button in the footer and I'll lend a hand.
  22. Sorry about that. The old theme I was using for Dark Mode was incompatible with the new software, so I had to disable it / create a new dark theme. Sorry for the inconvenience there.
  23. On top of Push Notifications, there's also Achievements (Badges) & Ranks. Everybody's rank is currently being re-calculated based on all-time points. This may take a day or two to finish.
  24. No need to miss a beat with notifications. If you would like to be alerted when quoted, messaged, or even if you get reactions while away from the forum, you should now have an option to. When clicking the notification bell at the top of the forums, you can turn on 'push notifications' and voila, you're set. If you want to turn off certain (or all) notifications, you can go into Notification settings and tweak them as you see fit. Enjoy!
  25. I just updated the forum software to the newest version of the software. I also cleaned up the Dark Theme a bit, making some buttons that were previously hard to see stand out more. If you see anything strange, let me know here or send a private message. Thanks!
