TEAM IN OUT ANALYSIS
team logo
n/a Marcus Arroyo Arroyo was 7-23 in three seasons leading the Rebels
team logo
n/a Tim Lester Lester was 37-32 in six seasons with the Broncos.
team logo
Luke Fickell (Cincinnati coach) Paul Chryst This is a home-run hire for a Badgers program that needed a spark. Fickell was 57-18 with the Bearcats, had three double-digit win seasons, two conference titles and a berth in the College Football Playoff following the 2021 season. Grade: A+
team logo
n/a Luke Fickell Fickell took the open job at Wisconsin after posting a 57-18 record in six seasons with the Bearcats.
team logo
n/a Philip Montgomery Montgomery posted a 43-53 record in eight seasons leading the Golden Hurricane.
team logo
n/a Jake Spavital Spavital was fired after a 13-35 record in four seasons.
team logo
Kenny Dillingham (Oregon OC) Herm Edwards Dillingham is an Arizona State alum who has never served as a head coach. He has a lot of upside, but Arizona State is counting on a very young leader -- 32 years old -- to navigate through some NCAA issues while building the program back. Grade: C+
team logo
n/a David Shaw Shaw posted a 96-54 record in 12 seasons with the program and transformed Stanford into a legitimate Pac-12 championship contender. However, Shaw resigned after going 6-16 over the past two seasons.
team logo
n/a Willie Taggart Taggart was 15-18 in three seasons leading the Owls
team logo
Matt Rhule (Ex-Carolina Panthers coach) Scott Frost Rhule was 19-20 in three seasons in Baylor, and took the program from a disaster after the Art Briles era to the Sugar Bowl and 10-win season in his third year with the Bears. He is a known program builder, which is exactly what Nebraska needs. Grade: A
team logo
Biff Poggi ( Michigan associate head coach) Will Healy After the young Will Healy faded, Charlotte opted to go the opposite direction and nab a grizzled veteran. Poggi, 62, has a storied career as a high school coach to his name and helped reorganize Michigan behind the scenes over the past two years. It's not a flashy hire, but Poggi might be the kind of organizational mind Charlotte needs while entering the AAC. Grade: B
team logo
n/a Jeff Scott Scott was fired after a 4-26 record in three seasons leading the Bulls. His only win over an FBS opponent came over Temple in 2021.
team logo
n/a Bryan Harsin Harsin was fired following a 41-27 loss to Arkansas in Week 9, 21 games into his tenure but also right as the university undergoes a change in leadership at AD. Harsin exits with 9-12 record and never quite fit in after arriving from Boise State . Harsin is owed more than $15 million for his buyout.
team logo
n/a Karl Dorrell Dorrell went 8-15 in three seasons in Boulder and is owed approximately $8.7 million for his buyout. Offensive coordinator Mike Sanford is serving as the interim coach.
team logo
n/a Geoff Collins Collins was dismissed after posting a 10-28 record in four seasons on The Flats. Offensive line coach Brent Key is serving as the interim coach for the Yellow Jackets. Collins is owed approximately $11.37 million in buyout.

Notable retentions, extensions

team logo
Kalen DeBoer Extended Washington coach Kalen DeBoer signed a contract extension to stay in Seattle through the 2028 football season. The new contract adds two years and $1 million per season to his original deal after leading the Huskies to a 9-2 record in 2022.
team logo

Nice.  This was one of my favorite threads from last off season.  Jesus how are we here again already.  Where does the time go!!??!?!?!?!??????!!?!!???!!?!

The WI and Auburn jobs done early.

Now just Stanford and Cinci left (for now).

Wonder if Jimbo survives?

Is the AD that hired Jimbo at A&M  now at LSU? Fisher has really had a fall from grace since FSU. FSU fans blame him for wrecking that too.

SECW is brutal.

They now have Saban, Kiffin, Pirate, BK, Jimbo, and now Freeze. And Pittman was highly respected and did decent last year (in his 2nd year). That is crazy to have so many big names in only one half of a conference.

Sort of shocked about Deion going to Colorado, hope he does well there. Maybe he's into that Rocky Mountain Way...

Tom Herman to FAU, not sure why he wasn't hired before this. Looking at Texas football since he was let go from there, in retrospect his record was pretty good compared to what's followed. Does he have some baggage or a bad rep as to why he wound up at FAU? Seems to me he should have landed at a bigger/better HC position before this.

Chip Long, now there is a guy whose star has fallen.

I thought Deion might get offered the FAU job, or any HC job in FL lol..

If Norvell gets canned in the next couple years, DS to FSU makes sense.... Norvell did a nice job this season, but needs a statement year in 2023. If DS does well in CO, the FL voices will grow...

Colorado is not Jackson St. it’s been a looong while since Colorado was good. And even then, McIntyre couldn’t sustain it.
USC and UCLA moving from the PAC should help Colorado. Then again, it may hurt them because they may be a team with no conference on the outside looking in with no money and little funding. No matter how much they say NIL is “rolling in.”

My understanding is that when Colorado was last good, they heavily recruited Southern California, Without Colorado playing USC and UCLA, that might hurt that approach.

Sanders adds Bama co-DC to coaching staff.

That's a power move. And helps SE recruiting (Kelly has time in TN, AL, FL, etc.)...

And already pulled Kent State HC to be his OC. Young kid, rising... wide open O, and very quick strike attack.

Sander's phone is ringing all the hook from kids per reports.

Love the drama, and waves it's causing in the PAC, and around the nation.

I don’t get why some who may not like Sanders personality or showmanship or whatever use that to back up their claim he is not a good coach. Ditto for Jim Harbaugh, many many don’t like the guy and/or don’t like Michigan and trash him as a coach. Regardless, the guy is a good coach. Results on the field speaks volumes. Deion lit it up at Jackson St and Harbaugh has won the Big 10 and made the CFP 2 years running.

I’m hoping Deion can turn things around at Colorado. It is entertaining, that’s for sure!
