Oh, I agree that there’s no viable way to pay for all the things she espouses in the Green New Deal. There are some great ideals in there though. Figuring out how to pay for them? That’s beneath her. She’s an idea person.

 

Me too. I can think of lots of great things to do, ways to make my life and the lives of those around me better. But, in this real pay-as-you-go private life, not funded by money taken from others, paying for these things isn’t always possible.

That’s not true, she does care about people. She’s not a loser either, she’s doing much better in life than you I presume. Of course we will never get rid of cars and airplanes (although Boeing could go away).

But, the auto industry is powerful. It seems to me that they innovate when mandated, but leave things alone when not forced. I’m not talking about creature comforts inside the autos, but miles-per-gallon engine/battery innovation. When California, the largest auto market in the largest country-wide auto market tells carmakers they can’t sell in that state unless their fleet average mpg is X, mpg innovation follows. And that’s good for the environment.

I’m not taking this into a global warming discussion. I just believe the idea of decreasing carbon emissions is probably a good thing. Sometimes it takes some serious nudging to make it happen. No one on the left seems to be able to pay for their ideas, and few on the right seem to be willing to tweak their larger donors into real innovation, which means re-tooling factories and maybe decreasing profit.

 

These are very difficult issues. They require real adults to talk with, sometimes yell at, each other, and then come up with compromises. We’ve just gotten to the point where republicans from super conservative districts can’t win primaries if they act like they might reach across party lines to get things done. Same thing on the Democrat side.

The larger liberal media has annointed her, not FOX news(who I also don't agree with). Everytime I see news, she's right there. She auditioned for the part and got it, everything she says outside a live interview is spoonfed to her by her handlers. I know lots of liberals, she's a leftist and thats a big and scary difference. You may be right with SOME media outlets(msnbc)but when I turn on FOX it’s a hit job on AOC 22 hours a day. No different then cnn’s hit job with Trump.

Look no farther than Lavar Ball. Did a good job of promoting his kid and his brand. But when it all settles most people finally see it’s just a smoke screen.

This is why I think Pete Buttlieg is getting traction. Buttlieg sounds like an honest well-spoken individual. He’s basically everything Trump is not. Hence, why I think he could give Trump a run.

You don't get what I've been saying. I really wouldn't care for her, except she is everywhere all the time and she is being forced into our consciousness. I can't name all the members of Congress or Senate, but why is she getting so much attention? Bernie was a nobody to me until the last election. His socialist ideas existed long before hand, but near as I can tell he never pushed them nor received much attention for them before '16.

 

Why would I care? She is actually pushing for very radical ideas that could effect everyone, concepts that I'm thoroughly opposed to. She's a member of a governing body that could enact those policies. Why wouldn't I care?

 

Steve King is not my representative either. I haven't followed him much. He said some unPC things, and was widely/universally renounced for them. Didn't see the same thing with Omar a few weeks ago. Matter of factly it went from hate speech protection against Jews to hate speech protection for everyone....except whites. I think the whole hate speech legislation is rather silly and uncalled for. BTW I actually agree with some of Omar's premise of the overly powerful pro-Israel lobby.

I agree that she is being talked about at ad nauseum. It is a little strange. But I think it accumulates from a bunch of things. I really didn't pay a ton of attention to how the AG was hours before the report. My opinion was let the report come out and reveal what it reveals. I haven't read it myself. I know regardless the fight and debate of its content will continue for some time. Each side will have their perspective.

 

I dont watch FOX so I cant say about them dictating Trumps agenda. Overall the agenda he ran on during the election is what got him in for a lot of voters, and he has been active in trying to fulfill those pledges.

Don't know why I choose that site, but its where I get quick updates on their feds, basically since college when I started web surfing. So at least on my viewing of Yahoo and all its various links, most of it is exclusively liberal news links like: Huffpo, Salon, Vice, WSJ, WashPo, CNn, MSNBC etc etc. Sure the may be Fox News articles once in awhile or another conservative news sources, but the vast majority are liberal outlets.

 

So that in mind, when AOC or Omar or whoever says or does something, I simply go to Yahoo and scroll through their related links. And vola article after article with the headlines about those people appear from those same liberal outlets, and probably Fox too. Even more disturbing IMO is just about every one of those articles reads the same...eerily so. Its almost as if some larger power forces these companies to drone on and on with the same unoriginal talking points and agenda. Not conspiracy mind you since most are owned by the same corporations pushing the narrative.

 

I don't have to read or watch Fox, Breitbart, or whoever you think I do to get news. All I need is the who, what, when, where, why, and how. I can formulate my own thoughts on the news based on my beliefs and values and have an opinion, its calked free thinking. I can't help if there are other people out there who share conservative ideas, Fox etc certainly don't have a monopoly on it.

 

I certainly enjoy podcasts like LWC, Owen Benjamin, Tim Pool, Styxhexenhammer, etc when I have time. Two of those are far from conservative thinkers, and there are others I enjoy who are liberal but support values like free speech and are against PC culture run amok.

Another reason I didn't follow King's contraversey, it lasted for about a day and he was lambasted by all sides for saying what he said. I know what he said about white people, am I to defend or castigate him? The media dropped it pretty quickly because no one defended him on the Republican side. Thats not to say people haven't tried to explain away what he said or claim he did a poor job explaining his views, because there have been those people. He seems to have been taken care of so to speak, for now.

It’s fine that you enjoy these right wing programs, but the original argument stemmed from you saying that liberal media outlets have been the ones covering aoc. I challenged that, with evidence that fox brought her up over 3000 times in two weeks. I am just pointing out that the right wants to characterize AOC and Omar because it creates fear. Both are of other cultures that scare the right and have some radical ideas. This gets the right all frazzled and scared so they will click more headlines and watch more programming. I think it is very unfair to them that they are constantly attacked when there are 463 others that do the same job everyday. Want to attack Pelosi? Fine, she’s the speaker and has a lot of power.

I see that you added. My argument still solidly stands that the liberal outlets have covered every bit and more of those two and others. As I mentioned from reading those news sources, who may just be reporting what the congresswomen are legislating, its enough for me and others to have concern without ever listening/reading a conservative news source like FOX.

 

Now the $64,000 question is whether the MSM(including FOX) constantly keeps them in the conversation, similar to Trump, just because it's click bait and outrage sells for both sides in MSM. Then the answer is solidly yes.
