  1. Go back to the last 15 years of college football national champions and find me the teams that won without an elite QB. Outside of some Bama "manage the game" players, most were dynamic and elite QBs. It's one thing (perhaps THE one thing) we've been missing.
  2. I believe it was Carroll who chased harbaugh down asking, "What's your deal?" After Harbaugh went for 2 against SC when Stanford was up 48-20 with 5 mins left. That was epic. I'm not a Harbaugh fan but that was a joy to watch.
  3. I disagree here. We were favored in the games we lost. All we had to do was take care of business but we did not show up in the big games. This was the perfect formula for getting in the playoff without a conference championship and we blew it. Conversely the all powerful big10 is left out because their champion had 2 losses and a weak resume. Win games that we should and we would be in a rematch with GA in January.
  4. I honestly think if we could get consistent elite quarterback play we could win it all.
  5. Maybe yards per point given up is a better stat. I was actually very impressed by the way we managed the lead at MSU. Those were truly garbage yards in the second half. We made them dink and dunk for 7 minutes at one point and only came up with 3 pts I think. When you're up as many points as we were who cares? That was a pretty dominating performance. If we hold every opponent to less than 20 points we should be able to score 21 or more on almost everyone. I couldn't care less if we give up 800 yards a game if we finish 11-1.
  6. I hate to be this guy, but seeing all these dramatic before and after pictures in such a short window has me thinking one thing.... roids
  7. Class of '96, also grace hall. If texasdomer lived on campus sr year then we lived in the same building for a year. Great site here. Thx to all who work and post to keep it going.
  8. Fair point, but then Kelly is going ALL IN on the concept that the answer to the defense is someone who has been with him for years and he just figured that out now.... (???) Basically this will prove that Kelly isn't even trying to impress anymore.
  9. Keep a close eye on the DC position. It's one of the most visible coordinator positions open, albeit for a potentially lame duck coach. But if BK wanted to, he could probably make a splash with a solid external candidate (even Strong for a year). If he announces a hire from within, this may signal to us that he is on the way out and this is just a place holder (potentially interim HC).
  10. Agreed Hawaii. Kelly played this game not to lose instead of to win. You can't play that way against navy. The other thing regarding coaching: we had NO answer for the pitch man all game. Totally unacceptable when you have two option teams on your schedule back to back and a bye week two weeks before...
  11. I'm interested to see who returns next year. The 16 schedule is one of the most manageable we've had in a loooooong time.
  12. I'm all for it under one of two conditions: either they alternate series, or Golson is the drive QB and Zaire is the RZ finisher. That way each of them knows what to expect as the game unfolds. If there's ever a game to do this, it's a bowl game where we have nothing to lose. Everyone expects us to get housed, so why not make it an audition.
  13. In my opinion, the redzone is the perfect incubator for Malik Zaire. Give him a red zone package that includes a lot of zone-read.
  14. I reeeeeeaaaallly hope we don't look back at this thread in laughter after the BYU game.
